Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die! -
Chapter 415 Rules of the Sayre Coast
Chapter 415: Chapter 415 Rules of the Sayre Coast
"Really? But didn’t you just want to fight me?" Xu Huo looked incredulous, "You’re bluffing me, aren’t you?"
"He’s bullshitting you, as long as you don’t kill anyone, you can do whatever on this train," said the burly player who had restrained Chu Yuan earlier, cradling a keg of wine and pouring it into his mouth. After finishing, he added, "However, fights between players can easily lead to death, so it’s best to avoid getting physical if possible."
Chu Yuan glared at the man angrily for a while before turning back to Xu Huo and saying, "Aren’t you afraid he’s bullshitting you too?"
The people gambling in the carriage quieted down, and a dozen or so passengers all turned their heads to look at Xu Huo, eagerly waiting for his reaction.
Xu Huo frowned slightly, "I’m a person who believes in the value of harmony."
The onlookers were somewhat disappointed, but due to the restriction of Sayre Coast, they were still relatively polite to each other. After some laughing and joking, the players who didn’t belong to this carriage went back to their own compartments.
Lunchtime arrived quickly, and the attendants, wearing leisurely clothes with a bow tie pinned symbolically on their chests to denote their status, brought up the menu. Other than water, there were only bread and pan-fried deep blue fish—and the prices were not cheap.
"Can the kitchen prepare other dishes?" Xu Huo asked.
"No," the attendant glanced at him, "Take it or leave it."
It was clear that the kitchen on this train was also contracted by Sayre Coast.
The other passengers in the same carriage seemed to be used to it, with each person ordering at least one set meal. Some players also shrewdly purchased Sayre Coast’s specialty sashimi and potions from the attendants.
"The sashimi from Sayre Coast is unparalleled. I have to have it several times every time I’m here," a well-dressed player recommended to the others, "The taste is just divine. I’ve never found anything like it anywhere else."
The attendant had already moved on to the next carriage, and another player asked, "Wasn’t Sayre Sea polluted? You dare to eat raw stuff?"
But the player seemed completely unconcerned, "Once you’re in the game, who knows what day you might die. If you’re too afraid to even satisfy your cravings, won’t you die full of regrets? Besides, I’ve been to Sayre Coast many times, and nothing has ever been wrong with my body after leaving. You can eat it without worry."
Some players were tempted by the talk and were about to call the attendant back when a commotion suddenly erupted from the rear carriage. Following that, a person was flung out of the train. After a few seconds of silence, the attendant came back cursing, "Ungrateful bastard, trying to act tough with me! What do you think this place is?"
Except for the initial train journey, Xu Huo had not heard any more announcements on subsequent trains about attendants being able to kick out players; however, it was clear that the rule was still in place.
"Serves him right! Teehee!" the girl with the tongue stud laughed.
No one cared about the player who was kicked out, and the train’s liveliness returned.
Xu Huo leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes, and rested. A short while later, Chu Yuan said, "Hey, stand up for a sec, I need to use the restroom."
Xu Huo stood up, "I need to go as well."
Once they reached the transition carriage, Chu Yuan rushed into the restroom first and closed the door, with the rope caught in the crack of the door. Xu Huo could only stand outside and wait.
"Ka." The door from the rear carriage was pulled open, and a player wearing a mask stepped out. He was hunched over, and his messy hair obscured his eyes. Glancing down, he said, "Ah, someone’s here. Kid, do you want me to help you untie the rope?"
Xu Huo leaned on the doorway, took out a lighter, lit a cigarette, and squinted his eyes at the man without any intention to converse.
The masked player didn’t mind and just stood on the other side of the door, waiting as well.
Xu Huo ignored him and after a few seconds, he banged hard on the restroom door. Chu Yuan quickly came out, looking unhappy as he said, "What’s the rush? It’s not like the toilet is going to run away!"
"Do you want me to sew your lips shut since they’re so damn quick?" Xu Huo stared at him with a dark look in his eyes.
Chu Yuan immediately closed his mouth and gave up his spot to him.
The restroom door closed again, and at that moment, the player with the mask spoke up again. He asked Chu Yuan, "Do you want me to help you untie those ropes? I happen to be good at unlocking these kinds of props."
Just as Chu Yuan was about to speak, he felt a sudden tug on the ropes around his wrists. He paused instinctively, and in his hesitation, Xu Huo had already opened the door.
Their conversation hadn’t even started when it was interrupted. Xu Huo walked straight ahead, and Chu Yuan, being led by the rope, had no choice but to follow.
The noise in the compartment didn’t stop. Chu Yuan looked back to see the masked player returning to the rear carriage, then lowered his voice and said, "Why not give it a try? Maybe he really could’ve untied the ropes."
"Have you ever met someone that kind?" Xu Huo countered.
Chu Yuan was taken aback for a moment, then said, "He must want something in return, like a prop or money."
"Hmm, you can go find him later if you want," Xu Huo replied indifferently as he took a seat.
Chu Yuan’s expression changed, and he seemed to realize something from Xu Huo’s attitude, taking his own seat with a hint of wariness.
After lunch, players occasionally came up to joke around. Xu Huo entertained a couple before starting to sleep against his seat. Seeing this, the amicable Chu Yuan also blocked some of the players who came to disturb them.
The night passed without incident, and the players returned to their own seats. After the lights were out, the noisy train suddenly fell into absolute silence. All the players were like fierce beasts lurking in the dark, waiting for prey to come to them.
Nothing happened in Xu Huo’s carriage or the one behind for the entire night. However, there was some commotion at the front in the early hours, but it quickly subsided.
The next morning, an announcement echoed through the train, "We have some good news. Two players in the first-class carriage have lost their qualification for the Sayre Coast invitation. When the train arrives at the coast, no ship there will offer them any services."
The reactions of the players in the carriage varied, with some cursing "idiots" and others pleased by the decrease in competition.
"For those heading to Sayre Coast, the copies they need to do are mostly on the islands. Without a boat, they won’t even be able to reach the island, making their tickets a complete waste."
"That’s not all. When the time comes, all the merchants on the coast won’t provide them with any service. Not to mention buying food, they won’t even find a place to stay," the girl with the tongue piercing interjected. "The Beren Clan is really powerful."
"The Beren Clan controls the Sayre Coast? Just one family?" Xu Huo asked.
"Don’t underestimate them just because they’re ’one family,’ big brother. The family tree could probably list over a hundred members. They own most of the business there, so of course, they call the shots on the coast," the girl with the tongue piercing said and then asked, "Which copy are you going to?"
"I’m not sure yet, but it’s a Level D Copy," Xu Huo replied.
"That’s too bad, we’re definitely not going to the same copy," the girl with the tongue piercing shrugged.
"Are you going for the ore?" Chu Yuan asked abruptly from the side.
