Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Second Spar
"Can a wanted criminal return to the game?" Xu Huo asked casually.
"The only way to avoid being transferred to a high-risk copy is to leave the original Wormhole Point. If you re-enter the copy at a new Wormhole Point, the player’s identity will be recorded in the game," Madame Butterfly said. "This applies to both wanted criminals and those who flee to other Wormhole Points to avoid high-risk copies."
"There is still a way to avoid high-risk copies," Xu Huo thought for a moment and then said, "Can’t you hide inside props?"
"You’re talking about container props. Players can temporarily leave the game through container props, but it comes at a cost," Madame Butterfly lifted her eyes to glance at him, "If you don’t want to do the copy, you can also hide in the cracks of this ancient castle."
"What cost?" Xu Huo seemed very interested in pursuing.
"Why don’t you try and see?" Madame Butterfly smiled.
Their gazes met, and neither of them continued the topic. After a while, Xu Huo broke the silence, "Do you really plan to rob Rongxin Group’s military weapons?"
"You have a plan?" Madame Butterfly raised an eyebrow.
"No," Xu Huo said, "But you should know more than I do, and since you can enter the Enforcement Department and kill, isn’t stealing a batch of weapons a piece of cake?"
"Testing me?" Madame Butterfly tossed the gemstone she was fiddling with into the box, "There will definitely be a space blockade near the trade site. Just bringing enough players from Rong Xin’s side, what difference does it make if they go in like climbing into a jar?"
"Likewise, once this batch of weapons is stored in the warehouse, it becomes very difficult to get to them."
"The only chance to strike is the time from the station’s exit to the point of transaction between both parties," Xu Huo picked up where she left off, "Your map marks a seaport station. Rongxin Group placed a large number of warehouses at the nearest dock, and within a week, a batch of supplies will be brought in, perhaps the weapons you are interested in."
Madame Butterfly didn’t even look at him as she got up and headed upstairs.
Her attitude was already very clear; the supplies that would be delivered to the dock within the week definitely wouldn’t be weapons. So, the logistical personnel from Rongxin Group’s branch rushing to change the location of the storage room was in itself bait.
As she stepped on the staircase, Xu Huo suddenly said, "Another contest?"
Madame Butterfly turned around, narrowed her eyes, and sized him up, "You’re quite spirited."
Launching a Psychic Attack against an outsider while unfolding the Spiritual World takes a huge toll on oneself. She had an absolute advantage in her clash with Xu Huo, and he should be exhausted from coping. Yet, here he was, daring to ask for a second round after just one day.
"Alright," Madame Butterfly raised her right hand, and behind her appeared a long golden zipper stretching to the rooftop. As the teeth of the zipper parted, golden light burst out, quickly submerging the first floor.
Yesterday she had entered Xu Huo’s Spiritual World, and today she opened her own Spiritual World to let Xu Huo in.
Xu Huo stood in the vast white space, reached out to touch in front of him, and with his movement, a door appeared ahead. Turning the doorknob, he stepped through it.
There was no change in the scenery beyond the door, but he didn’t frown even a bit, opening doors seven times in a row.
Madame Butterfly was nearby, watching him. Seeing that he acted without thinking, she assumed he was merely trying his luck. However, when he entered the seventh door, she suddenly felt a force invading her Spiritual World.
In front of Xu Huo, a huge picture frame appeared. The thick colors within the painting stirred on their own, swirling like a vortex to form a new portal.
His Spiritual Embodiment portal took the form of a normal door, while Madame Butterfly’s was a zipper. The book tower was full of books, with no paintings, so the appearance of the painting caught them both off guard for a moment.
Madame Butterfly flung out a zipper that swallowed the painting, denying Xu Huo any chance to enter it, but in the next second, more paintings emerged behind the door he had opened, floating and aligning themselves within the blank space she had created.
Seeing that he was about to walk into one of the paintings, Madame Butterfly again used her zipper to swallow it up. Thus, the position of the painting was completely replaced by her zipper, and Xu Huo’s portal was supplanted by hers.
"You’ve opened so many doors, aren’t you afraid I’ll find your Spiritual Embodiment?" Xu Huo looked up slightly, eyeing the zipper-like thing in front of him.
"Try and see," a zipper opened and closed twice, voicing Madame Butterfly’s words.
Xu Huo smiled, waved his hand, and countless doors and paintings appeared outside the zippers’ reach. He quickly chose the nearest door to enter, closed it behind him, and was unsurprised to find numerous zippers reappearing in front of it. With a light tap of his foot, layers of steps sprouted from the ground, spiraling upwards and elevating him into the sky.
The spiral staircase was an important symbol in his Spiritual World. The appearance of the spiral staircase meant that his Psychic Power had successfully invaded Madame Butterfly’s Spiritual World, just as she could summon portals in his book tower. The difference was that Madame Butterfly hadn’t exposed her actual Spiritual World, while Xu Huo didn’t mind showing her a second time.
The appearance of the spiral staircase seemed to tear a slit in Madame Butterfly’s Spiritual World. After the white stair emerged, a white liquid resembling emulsion covered the previous blank space, and signs of the book tower started to appear.
Madame Butterfly, watching the figure rising steadily atop the stairs, said gravely, "I just told you not to carelessly expose your Spiritual Embodiment. So what if you bring the book tower in? Your Embodiment can’t stay hidden; I can easily deal you a severe blow!"
Xu Huo didn’t respond to her. Madame Butterfly turned to look beneath the staircase. If the book tower took shape, the table on the first floor and the things on it should appear, but unexpectedly, five to six floors of the tower were already constructed, yet the table in the center of the first floor still had not shown up.
"You’re quite smart," Madame Butterfly said with a smile, "But the book tower is only so big; where can you hide your Embodiment?"
Meanwhile, six zippers appeared around them, and her figure suddenly split into six, each stepping into a different zipper. They searched for Xu Huo’s Spiritual Embodiment within the spiraling book tower.
Xu Huo’s book tower was very complex. Not only did it have up to a hundred floors, but each floor also had at least ten doors, and beyond each door, there were overlapping rooms. If the central staircase and the tower were considered a complete circle, then there were countless circles wrapped around this one, which could rotate independently and were linked by doors, effectively turning the book tower into a massive maze.
It’s easy to enter a maze but hard to exit. Madame Butterfly knew this from yesterday, but she still stepped inside without hesitation. The reason was simple: Xu Huo unfolded his Spiritual World within hers, so it couldn’t possibly be too far from his own world, and she didn’t need to exit the maze—just detach from his world.
However, what she hadn’t anticipated was that in just a short day, Xu Huo’s Spiritual World had undergone another change.
