Chapter 386: Battle in the Sandstorm

Chapter 386: Chapter 386: Battle in the Sandstorm

"A transport vehicle is missing!" Xu Huo quickly turned around, the vehicle that had just fallen back to the ground was gone!

"Could they be targeting the vehicles?" Wan Tingfang’s face showed a look of astonishment and doubt, "Would they go to so much trouble just for a cart?"

"It’s not the transport vehicles!" Xu Huo immediately said, "Can the repair instrument be placed inside a prop or game luggage compartment?"

"No." Shi Youzhi caught on and leapt down from the transport vehicle, simultaneously saying, "Guard the station!"

"You two stay on the car." Ai Jia instructed Xu Huo and another person before getting off with the other team members, but before they could even enter the station, a sandstorm suddenly whipped up in the desert, the oppressive black sand enveloping the entire station!

This sandstorm was far beyond what Xu Huo’s Desert Pinwheel could compare with; he was protected by his soap bubble without being impacted by the sandstorm, but the transport vehicle beneath him was drifting from its original position!

"Seastabilizing Needle!" Wan Tingfang, who remained on the vehicle, took out a stone stele engraved with the words "Seastabilizing Needle" and placed it on the vehicle, stabilizing the drifting and floating vehicle amidst the sandstorm.

The space outside of the soap bubble was almost packed solid with sand, making it nearly impossible to see or hear anything from outside.

Wan Tingfang touched the stele with trepidation and turned towards Xu Huo, only to see his gaze shifting over the sand.

"What are you looking at?" She followed his gaze.

Xu Huo didn’t answer, but instead drew out the Crimson Sword and slashed toward the front left!

"What are you doing!" Wan Tingfang turned a sudden shade of anger, let go of the "Seastabilizing Needle" and moved to seize the sword, questioning, "Are you in cahoots with the attacker?"

Xu Huo dodged her and moved forward a few steps, then chopped several more times, cutting a path from the left front to the right, until the last strike elicited fresh blood from the sand!

"There’s someone!" Wan Tingfang also saw the scene, immediately pulled out a metallic sphere and threw it into the air, "See through the flesh, look at the bones!"

A glowing green light radiated from the sphere, instantly turning the entire soap bubble green, and right then, to their right where the light shone, the skeletal figure of a person appeared, albeit with the left hand missing.

Xu Huo knew this had to be the person he had just struck. The person was mingling in the sand, circling the transport vehicle. He had intended to feign a few slashes to close the distance, but had not anticipated that the Sword Qi could pierce through the soap bubble and directly hit the person in the sand.

Logically, with a layer of sand in between, the Sword Qi shouldn’t have been able to harm a person, but the adversary’s hand was severed, suggesting either the sand, like the soap bubble, was not considered the "first object touched" for the Crimson Sword to activate or the sand itself was the player!

Now that the opponent was revealed by the prop and had no place to hide, he didn’t leave but instead continued to spin around outside at an exceptionally fast speed!

Seeing this, Wan Tingfang said, "What does he want to do? Is he trying to break the soap bubble?"

Injured and not fleeing, wasn’t his intention clear? He obviously wanted revenge!

Xu Huo stood on the roof of the car, continuously swinging the sword, chasing after the player and slashing at him!

"Aren’t you afraid of popping the soap bubble?" Wan Tingfang tried to stop him, "There’s a sandstorm outside, and I don’t have the appropriate defense prop. If we go out, we’ll have to use the tickets!"

"Didn’t you see just now that She Ping and his group all used props? That shows this soap bubble can withstand attacks from outside props, but it won’t affect the power of the props used inside." Xu Huo continued without halting his actions and added, "If it has a time limit or a breaking point, it’ll burst whether I do anything or not. Better to take the initiative to strike."

Wan Tingfang glanced at the one-armed person outside, not knowing what he was up to, and her face darkened, "You’re right. Even if we do nothing, others won’t let us be! I want to catch him!"

Having said that, she threw a toy centipede the length of her forearm outside. The centipede burrowed through the soap bubble and clung to the one-armed person’s direction outside.

"The Centipede that Bites Feet will bite the target every ten seconds after locking on, but each bite only causes half a second of stiffness."

Xu Huo nodded, intercepting the player moving through the sand ahead based on their trajectory.

One, two, three... ten!

Counting the time, he swung his sword down. The Sword Qi reached the soap bubble, leaving a trail of blood on the sand at a hair’s breadth distance, but the blow only caused superficial wounds to the opponent, and the bones under the green glow remained unchanged.

"Venomous Snake Fangs!" Taking the opportunity, Wan Tingfang launched a miniature arrow from a tiny launcher next to her. The tiny arrow disappeared into the sand, presumably hitting the target, as there was a noticeable pause in the player’s movement. However, the next second he vanished into the sand.

Before Xu Huo and Wan Tingfang could catch their breath, the soap bubble was pierced by sand spinning like a high-speed drill, creating a deep depression that almost reached them!

The pair reflexively retreated, but the opponent’s move wasn’t to attack them, rather to destroy the prop that could reveal human bones. As the soap bubble rebounded, the metallic ball floating in the air was knocked off the roof of the car!

Watching her prop disappear into the sand, Wan Tingfang cursed aloud, then shot two more poison fangs at the sand cone before turning back to ask Xu Huo, "Did I hit him?"

Xu Huo shook his head; he could only see the "Friendship Value" when the opponent was moving close to the soap bubble. The other player had gotten wise and stayed away.

The first sand cone was like a charge signal; immediately after, a dense cluster of sand cones began to whirl and converge, shaping the soap bubble bizarrely!

Xu Huo retreated to the middle of the transport vehicle and tried slashing with his sword again, but to no visible effect.

Noticing cracks appearing on the elongated soap bubble, he warned Wan Tingfang, "The sandstorm is coming!"

As his words were about to fade, the soap bubble burst, and a surge of sand waves followed. Xu Huo quickly donned his protective mask and threw the Dual-color Cube and the Fair Wallet out, then picked up the Desert Pinwheel and opened the Umbrella of Justice!

The Fair Wallet could make the target randomly drop an item. Although Xu Huo hadn’t spotted that player nearby, he still chose to throw the wallet, entirely gambling on luck.

The fatal weakness of the Desert Pinwheel is the rain, and clearly, the player who played with sand was of a special nature. Using the Umbrella of Justice’s feature which brings rain could possibly counteract it. If that didn’t work, he would have to use the Desert Pinwheel.

The other’s special nature was sand, and the Desert Pinwheel could unleash a sandstorm. The powers of nature and the prop might not be compatible, yet if the Pinwheel’s sandstorm became a boon for the opponent, maybe he would come closer, which would only be useful if they were near each other.

However, to his surprise, as soon as he opened the Umbrella of Justice, the sandstorm stalled and then began to fall in large swathes. The player mixed in the sand also revealed his tracks. The Fair Wallet and the Dual-color Cube lay in front of his feet, with a lasso nearby.
