Chapter 376 Assassination

Chapter 376: Chapter 376 Assassination

The hotel’s car left the twenty-seventh floor, and somehow the follower managed to accurately trail behind.

Xu Huo got off in the downtown area, pretending to shop as he entered a mall. Guided by the salesperson, he entered a VIP room. The player who was tracking him soon came in with a wine glass and, bending over, said, "One, two, three, freeze."

Xu Huo’s motion to take the wine glass paused, and he swiftly countered with a slash of his sword, simultaneously throwing the "Fair Wallet."

The player hadn’t expected him to break free from the special ability, but after a moment of surprise, reacted quickly. A wooden sword sprouted with flowers appeared in his hand. As the swords clashed, the flowers and vines instantly grew onto the Crimson Sword. As the foe withdrew his hand, Xu Huo was also pulled forward, but that was when the "Fair Wallet" took effect—the wooden sword fell from the man’s grasp!

The flowers and vines wrapped around the Crimson Sword quickly retracted, yet the player’s speed was so fast that before the wooden sword hit the ground, he kicked it back into his hand.

Dodging the other’s slash, Xu Huo retreated, trying to loop a wire around his neck, only to be shocked when the wire bounced off an invisible force just before it made contact, falling to the ground controlled as the man simply said, "Freeze," to it.

Xu Huo frowned, wondering if the special power also worked on his props?

"Who are you?" he asked. But the other clearly had no interest in conversing; his eyes darkened and he lunged forward!

Noticing that he seemed eager to touch him, Xu Huo pulled out a roll of cloth soaked in alcohol and drew back, setting it ablaze with rapid-fire "dings." The cloth spat by the spinning wheel caught fire and engulfed the player!

He was on the offensive and, given their proximity, the player got his shoulders wrapped by the cloth. Startled, he stumbled back, tearing off the burning cloth, only to see Xu Huo a few meters away, lifting a lighter toward him!

It must be said that against an experienced player with superior combat skills, props could sometimes be ineffective. The very instant the lighter was lit, Xu Huo found that the figure in his view had vanished only to reappear at lightning speed behind him on his right!

A piercing chill emanated from his back, causing Xu Huo not to turn or look back, but to toss the retrieved wallet over his shoulder and grab the Umbrella of Justice. As he pressed the handle and unfurled the umbrella, he only managed to see a wooden figure drop to the ground and vanish, followed by the sound of three gunshots!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The bullets did not penetrate the Umbrella of Justice, and as Xu Huo pulled the umbrella down, he lifted the ignited lighter and set the person opposite ablaze once more!

This time the player was caught squarely by the fire, only to unexpectedly have a transparent raincoat appear on him. As the raincoat covered him, the flames were instantly extinguished.

"I hate firebugs the most!" As the fire went out, the man hissed and kicked at Xu Huo.

Xu Huo quickly retracted the umbrella to block in front of himself, only to find the opponent’s feet sprouting vines and flowers, which entwined around his umbrella and pulled the man forward.

With an irremovable person on his chest, Xu Huo stored the Umbrella of Justice back into his inventory and held a pen in his right hand.

The sword aimed at his neck frozen, the player’s eyes involuntarily followed Xu Huo’s hand.

Just causing the opponent to halt wasn’t enough for Xu Huo to do as he pleased—he needed to put the pen into motion. So, as he wrote, he took out a Hallucinogenic Spray and pressed it against the man’s face.

As soon as the spray was released, the player snapped out of his daze. Though he inevitably inhaled some of the potion, it wasn’t severe; the drug’s effect wasn’t as good as described. Not only did he remain conscious, but he also threw a piece of amber wrapped around dried flowers in a fit of embarrassed fury, "Lament of the Plants!"

The amber melted like water while still floating weightlessly in mid-air, the dried flower inside swaying, emitting an unbearably sharp noise!

The sound vanished instantly, not because the dried flower stopped crying out, but because Xu Huo’s ears went temporarily deaf. Overwhelmed by the high-pitched noise, his vision darkened and his head buzzed with numbness.

Swinging his Sword in different directions one after another, it wasn’t long before he whirled around, only to be able to shield his chest with his Sword before a heavy punch struck him!

He was hurled into the air by the force of the blow. Although he couldn’t see or hear, he felt that the player had teleported behind him!

He made a minor adjustment in mid-air and tossed the Desert Pinwheel!

In an instant, a sandstorm enveloped the spacious VIP room, catching the player at the forefront, who was swept directly to the door. When he hit the door, a transparent glass dome appeared over his head, immediately cutting off the sandstorm.

But in the midst of the sandstorm, nearly nothing was visible, and his hearing was severely impaired. He listened intently for a moment, then shouted, "With such a fierce sandstorm, your fire won’t burn, will it? There’s only one room; where can you hide? I’ve used a prop outside the door, and nobody will come in before I leave!"

There was no sound in the sandstorm, but the next second, a shiny Slaughtering Knife swung out of the sand, shattering the player’s protective dome!

Of course, just as Xu Huo could use the sandstorm and the Silent Figurine to attack, the player could counterattack the moment he made his move. The player grabbed the Slaughtering Knife and plunged his other hand towards the direction the blade came from, into the whirling sand.

"Unstoppable Direct Hit!"

The effect of "Lament of the Plants" had worn off, and Xu Huo had just regained his sight when a golf ball-sized black sphere hit the visor on his mask. Covered in porcupine-like quills, it pierced an array of tiny holes into the visor.

Fortunately, his visor was expensive and sturdy enough to withstand the blow. A fraction of an inch more, and his eyes would have been punctured!

The Slaughtering Knife vanished and reappeared, and Xu Huo, seizing the opportunity, aimed a slash at the player’s throat, only to miss. But the player hadn’t disappeared from the room; Xu Huo could track his moving direction.

With the sandstorm acting as a barrier and his senses dulled, paired with a 0.5-second advantage, they were evenly matched in physical strength; the difference lay in their equipment. It seemed the sandstorm could counter the player’s special ability to rapidly grow vines, and in several exchanges, the player couldn’t use that tactic.

"Knock, knock, knock!" Someone was knocking on the door at that moment.

Sensing that the player was moving towards the door, Xu Huo hung the "World in the Painting" over the door handle.

The sandstorm disappeared. Xu Huo picked up the zither strings, amber, and wooden sword from the ground, walked over to the door, collected the painting that now had an extra face on it, and then opened the door.

It was the store manager who knocked, "Sir, what happened in the room?"

Xu Huo glanced at the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, took it off, and said, "I’ve broken a few things, make a list."
