Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 375: The Banquet Scene?

Chapter 375: Chapter 375: The Banquet Scene?

"Monkey Deng?" The three of them clearly knew the person, and even though they took the cigarette, they didn’t intend to let things slide just like that. Two of them moved to Xu Huo’s sides and wrapped their arms around him, about to drag him toward a narrow alley where surveillance cameras had limited visibility, "Since he’s a friend you know, no need to be a stranger."

Xu Huo complied and walked with them.

Half a minute later, the three thugs were wailing on the ground, clutching their feet. Xu Huo straightened his collar and repositioned the umbrella on his arm before walking away.

"Looking for Deng Xuan?" At this moment, a middle-aged man with a hat leaned against the wall at the entrance of the alley, smoking. He nodded his chin, "Come with me."

Xu Huo followed a few steps behind. The man led him through several alleys and stopped in front of a door sprayed with graffiti, signaling him to wait before entering.

This area seemed to have been built earlier; its facilities were not as advanced as the main urban district, but wherever high-tech could be applied, it was in use. Surveillance cameras were not the only things present; some areas were blatantly equipped with gun weaponry.

The sound of footsteps soon approached from inside the door. Deng Xuan appeared rather surprised to see him. After sizing him up, he said, "Kid, out of the instance so soon? Made a fortune this run, huh? Come on in and talk."

As he spoke, he made room for Xu Huo to enter.

Xu Huo stepped forward, glanced through the half-open door, then paused outside, "No need to go in. Didn’t you say last time you could get potions? I want to buy some."

"No problem," Deng Xuan didn’t insist when he saw Xu’s stance, closing the door slightly, and stepping outside, "What kind of potions do you want?"

"Evolution Potion, Self-Healing Potion, and if possible, other potions that can quickly enhance physical strength," Xu Huo paused before adding, "Can you get hold of the advanced versions of the potions?"

The game currently distributed the basic version, and there were also A and T versions, among others, which were more expensive than the base.

"That’s easy," Deng Xuan readily agreed, "I have P1 and P2 Evolution Potions, and the selling price is two-thirds of the official channel’s."

Xu Huo’s eyebrows twitched, "Diluted ones?"

"Of course not," Deng Xuan said with a smile, "We only sell, we don’t produce, you know."

They were either delivered through special channels, or they were stolen goods, hence the lower price.

After setting the transaction for five days later, Xu Huo was ready to leave. As he turned around, he realized that the street he had just walked down had changed.

The middle-aged man who brought him here came out again to lead the way. Although they were retracing the original path, the scenery behind them changed after they passed each location. Looking back, the street view and entrances and exits were almost completely different from before.

"What’s so interesting? Haven’t seen a special item before?" The middle-aged man glanced back at him.

Xu Huo didn’t say a word and left the area directly by cab.

Once the hovercar had completely left the area, the middle-aged man, cigarette in mouth, returned. In the alley where they had been, he searched along a wall and knocked. The wall rapidly dissolved, revealing a passage behind it. The buildings and public facilities on either side of the passage alternated between real and illusionary, as if a layer of hazy shadows had been cast over a real street, or as if no street existed at all and everything was just a holographically constructed façade.

The middle-aged man pushed open the graffiti-covered metal door and entered. Inside was a small yard with a roof over it. Deng Xuan stood aside, a large table in the center with a bald man with black patterns painted on his face sitting at it. Across from him was a hunchbacked old man wearing a face mask. Behind each of them stood three or four people with hostile expressions, as if their relationship was not that cordial.

"Is the man gone?" Bald Head asked the middle-aged man.

"He’s gone," the middle-aged man confirmed.

"Are you sure he didn’t see what was inside the courtyard just now?" the old man with the face mask asked, his voice modulated.

"We’ve used a special item in this courtyard. He definitely can’t see anything inside without entering," Bald Head said with a hint of sarcasm: "Old Brother Zhao, instead of worrying about this, you’d better worry about yourself. Your people have been cleaned up and you’ve slipped up. Be careful of the Enforcement Department tracing back to you."

"The aftermath has been handled properly. No one will trace it back to me. This transaction is no small matter; you might not be able to handle it," Old Brother Zhao said indifferently.

"Whether we can handle it is our business." Bald Head raised his hand, and his men immediately put down a chip, "Everything you asked for is in here, the time and place of the transaction."

Old Brother Zhao checked the chip and then laughed, placing a thin paper on the table before rising to leave.

Bald Head watched them vanish from the spot before nodding at Deng Xuan, who then lowered the wall’s large gate. Four beams of blue light scanned from the four corners of the courtyard, meeting in the middle. Only after the rays intersected did Deng Xuan say, "Brother Jing, it’s all clear."

Bald Head flipped over the piece of paper on the table with a "tsk," "Zhao is too easy with his money, giving us places that seem plausible yet are so far apart. Is he going to station people at every location to keep watch?"

He didn’t seem intent on pursuing the matter further, instead slipping the paper into his pocket. Then he asked Deng Xuan, "Who was that guy who just came by?"

"A Player who just arrived in Zone 011 a few days ago," Deng Xuan explained, "He’s bought items from me before. I told him if he needed anything, to come here and find me."

"Don’t bring people here next time," Bald Head said, "It’s not safe."

"He’s just a Level D Player. Shouldn’t be a problem," Deng Xuan hesitantly said, "He seems like a newbie, doesn’t understand the market. I made a good profit selling items to him."

"Should we take care of him?" the middle-aged man asked.

"No need, Old Brother Zhao will definitely make a move." Bald Head patted the pocket with the piece of paper, "We’ve got more important things to do."

Bald Head was right. After leaving the courtyard, Old Brother Zhao had his followers tail Xu Huo.

Xu Huo was still leisurely driving around the city, so he was quickly caught up to. The follower kept a cautious distance. If not for the number "7" atop his head, Xu Huo might not have noticed him at all.

With only a little thought, he knew that the person tailing him was related to that mysterious courtyard.

The yard used a special item; from the outside, looking in, it was pitch black, lit only two feet from the door enough to see. While he couldn’t see inside, he felt there were at least ten people inside. With so many people, they couldn’t possibly be just happening to have a meal, right?

So he didn’t go in.

Now someone was following him, likely a move by the other side to cover their bases. They might be trying to confirm whether his appearance had an ulterior motive, or they might be here to eliminate a potential threat.

"To the Eternal Star Hotel," he hesitated for two seconds before boarding an automatic taxi.

The person directly followed him to the Eternal Star Hotel. Seeing Xu Huo enter, he didn’t leave but loitered nearby. Through the telescope in his room, Xu Huo watched him for a while and decided to give him a chance.
