Chapter 362 Replica Trap

Chapter 362: Chapter 362 Replica Trap

Without He Pu’s command, the self-playing instruments stopped, but except for You Qiwen, who was the first to recover, the hands and feet of the other players were still numb. The final confrontation had come so unexpectedly, and with the emergence of a non-task player, everyone’s hostility towards He Pu was coupled with mutual suspicion and guard against each other.

Looking at the players with trembling legs, Flay sneered, "This play is really uninteresting. How did you start suspecting me?"

He was asking You Qiwen. Xu Huo had been distrustful of any player from the beginning, and You Qiwen had initially signed his alliance contract. He wanted to know at what point he had given himself away.

"I felt something was off about you when we signed the Contract." You Qiwen said, "The Contract itself doesn’t impose much restraint. From what it seems, if someone found the missing guest but didn’t want to tell the other players, this Contract would only lead to infighting amongst the players ahead of time."

"But that’s not really evidence. To complete the task, everyone is unscrupulous. Later, when Mr. Xu said there was a non-task player, I didn’t think it was you at first. What really made you suspicious was because of Li Chao." You Qiwen continued, "You claimed that Li Chao acted on his own, separately from the group, but Li Chao’s actions had been agreed upon with you."

"You agreed to cooperate with him, but in reality, you never left your room."

"That happened in my room, how did you know?" Flay paused for a moment, then suddenly looked towards Wei Landeng behind Liu Zhengping.

Wei Landeng, who had just been beaten to a pulp, struggled to sit up, spitting out a mouthful of blood and saliva. With a pale face filled with scorn, she said, "You use the Contract to bind others, but the Contract is also a medium."

She didn’t clarify, but the others understood. Flay dug a pit for others with the Contract, and Wei Landeng laid a trap for him through the contact with the Contract, by some means knowing what happened in his room.

"No wonder you signed without hesitation back then," Flay said with a grim face, "If that’s the case, why would you still cooperate with me to confront Mr. Dong?"

"Because we also wanted to know Mr. Dong’s stance," You Qiwen took over the conversation, his gaze sweeping over Mr. Dong, who stood still, Hu Shan who had been frozen, and finally resting on He Pu, who was listening to the story on stage, "Six against four has no chance of winning, but six against two might not be hopeless."

"Knowing about Li Chao’s death, you must have completed the task through him," Flay said.

You Qiwen and Wei Landeng didn’t answer; in fact, they hadn’t found Li Chao’s corpse, they had only seen Hu Shan take him away.

Seeing they didn’t respond, Flay turned to Liu Zhengping and the other two, "Only you three fools haven’t completed the first task yet."

Liu Zhengping had gotten along well with You Qiwen after entering the instance, but now he seemed very calm, "If I were You Qiwen, I would do the same."

Being in the same instance was one thing; they weren’t friends, so it wasn’t a betrayal.

At that moment, You Qiwen turned and struck the wall behind him thrice with his sword. According to Xu Huo, at this spot, there should be a wardrobe within the wall — the corpse was inside!

However, as the wall cracked open and the wooden panels fell, the closet it revealed was empty.

"Since you guessed I was the non-task player, how did you not guess that I would tell Mr. He ahead of time?" Flay laughed, "I didn’t expect you to be so loyal."

It wasn’t that he hadn’t guessed; Xu Huo narrowed his eyes slightly. It was because You Qiwen and Wei Landeng hadn’t seen through Flay as they’d said they had.

"Clap." He Pu clapped his hands gently, his laughter audible, "The lies were quite convincingly woven."

You Qiwen and Wei Landeng’s expressions changed slightly, but He Pu walked down the stage and said, "They couldn’t guess that I would move the body. On the contrary, they were waiting for this opportunity."

"Because they were afraid that once they reached the music room, they wouldn’t be sure they could find the body. That’s why they claimed to have completed the task. That way, I might be less guarded, thinking they found the missing guest. In doing so, whether I took the doll from the wardrobe or not, they would have a chance."

"Look, now the doll is not in the wardrobe. Later, the girl playing dead will definitely take advantage of the melee to slip out and look for the body."

Among those present, Wei Landeng was the only female player. After hearing He Pu’s words, her expression stiffened, and then she straightened her back as if she hadn’t been injured at all.

"I didn’t expect to be found out so quickly." You Qiwen also took a couple of steps toward the door. His previous words were indeed a mix of guessing and deceiving. Wei Landeng’s abilities were not as formidable as he had imagined. He doubted Flay but hadn’t caught any concrete evidence. It was only after Flay’s sneak attack and his own inability to break the stalemate that he had reluctantly resorted to these measures.

As He Pu had said, he had intended to use He Pu’s moving of the body as a chance to let Wei Landeng seek it out.

"What a bunch of kids," He Pu looked at them with what appeared to be pity. "Did you really think I would hide the body somewhere where you could never find it?"

"Impossible!" You Qiwen exclaimed. "You are the boss of the instance; you have to follow the instance’s rules. No instance is a definite death trap. If you hid the body where it would be forever out of players’ reach, it means this instance cannot be solved, which would be against the game rules."

He Pu’s smile was ethereal; he didn’t reply to that rebuttal.

You Qiwen gritted his teeth, then turned toward Xu Huo, "I can tell you the truth about the disappearance of the guests, but you have to agree to help us complete the first task!"

"No problem." Xu Huo drew out Crimson Sword.

"It’s too boring to live here." He Pu didn’t take them seriously, and said in a leisurely manner, "I’m also curious about what the truth is. Go ahead and tell me. If you guess correctly, I might just let you off."

You Qiwen paused, his gaze piercing as he looked at him.

"Speak," He Pu glanced at his watch. "Starting now, you have five minutes. If you don’t satisfy me in five minutes, then you can all go die."

Five minutes.

You Qiwen glanced at Mr. Dong and then declared forcefully, "Because you are not the real He Pu."

"You impersonated the real He Pu and took over as the master here, using his identity to slaughter players. Yet because of instance restrictions, it wasn’t convenient for you to act personally, so you secretly brought in other players to do it for you. Your aim was not only to kill players but also to kill Mr. Dong with them!"

What he had said was indeed beyond what the other players had considered. But for He Pu and Mr. Dong, the two important figures in this real truth, not even an eyelid flickered; they were not in the slightest shocked by his "truth."

You Qiwen looked to Xu Huo for confirmation, and when he did not receive any, sweat broke out on his forehead. His shocked gaze moved between the two men, then turned toward Flay, "Could it be you’re in collaboration to commit murder? Did I guess wrong?!"

"You didn’t guess wrong, but you only got a small part right." Xu Huo raised his sword, signaling Flay to step aside. He then walked in front of Mr. Dong, opposite He Pu, and smiled as he breathed a sigh of relief, "Thankfully, you gave yourself away, or else I really couldn’t have guessed the truth."
