Chapter 359: Chapter 359 Bidirectional Restraint
Xu Huo tilted his head to dodge and delivered a vicious kick. It was visible to the naked eye that Hu Shan’s calf was broken, but she did not retreat. Her left hand, stabbed into the wall, dragged outwards, turning the hard bricks into sludge, which stretched into a long strip and plastered onto his shoulder, rapidly drying!
Xu Huo’s right shoulder was momentarily grasped by the wet-then-dry brick sludge, but the contact area was small, and he broke free with little effort. He clamped the Note Launcher and flicked several Liupi Worms onto Hu Shan.
With a sledgehammer in hand, Hu Shan swung her weapon at almost imperceptible speed, pulverizing the man-eating worms mid-flight. Raising her knee, she slapped her palm onto the broken bone, instantly straightening her bent leg back to normal, before she blinked to the window, blocking Xu Huo’s escape attempt!
Xu Huo leapt up, supporting himself on the windowsill to avoid her, while simultaneously tossing his wallet over.
"Clang!" The sledgehammer flew out of her grip, landed, and was then bound by the Omnipresent Strings, getting dragged out the window before Hu Shan could reach for it, while at the same time, Xu Huo advanced with his Sword!
"Bang!" Hu Shan, bent over and ducking, wasn’t killed by the blow. Her white apron suddenly turned muddy, flowing behind her and solidifying into a barrier as hard as porcelain, blocking the attack.
The apron-shaped porcelain shield shattered upon impact, and the enraged Maid Hu Shan slapped away the splintering shards. The pieces she touched, as if instilled with life, shot like bullets toward Xu Huo!
Deflecting the shards swiftly with his Sword, Xu Huo lit his lighter and attempted to set Hu Shan on fire, but her clothing could turn to porcelain, making fire useless against her. During this brief engagement, Hu Shan had already picked up her sledgehammer and entangled the Omnipresent Strings directly around the hammer’s handle.
The subsequent fight could only be described as a brutal demolition. Hu Shan employed no meticulous strategy, relying solely on her strength and speed to thwart Xu Huo. She held an absolute advantage in physical power. Xu Huo fought with all his might yet still sustained many injuries. Her speed remained consistent from start to finish, and even while trading blows with injuries, she could use her unique traits to heal herself, becoming a veritable humanoid fighting machine.
"I have a curious question," Xu Huo suddenly spoke up, "You are so loyal to He Pu, have you never thought about protecting his property?"
Engrossed in the battle, Hu Shan paused, "I am for the master..."
But before she could finish, the color drained from her face, and she leaped back to the door, reaching for the handle. Instead, the door suddenly shifted, and the wall in its place, now a mass of black substance, bit into her hand. The sound of crisp fractures echoed as shards of porcelain continuously fell from Hu Shan’s body. The repaired wounds became exposed once more, and the black substance, seemingly amplifying the pain, left her unable to break free, forcing her to kneel in agony with cold sweat beading on her forehead and uttering painful groans.
A shadowy figure stood on the windowsill, red eyes tormentingly fixed on her—it was Mr. Dong.
"This is the master’s castle. The master hasn’t said anything—what right have you to meddle?!" Hu Shan shouted.
Mr. Dong on the windowsill ignored her, but the black substance on the wall tightened gradually, devouring her whole arm and shoulder.
Hu Shan merged with the wall, her entire body seemingly about to be consumed when a bizarre surge of power from the third floor enveloped her, and the black abyss-like wall suddenly returned to normal. Hu Shan, along with Yu Shuai, who was watching from the sidelines, were both flung out.
Hu Shan glared resentfully as Mr. Dong walked away, holding his arm, while Mr. Dong entered from the outside, paying no attention to Xu Huo and Yu Shuai, focusing instead on the destroyed room.
"Ugh!" Yu Shuai spat out a large mouthful of blood at that moment. Seeing Mr. Dong frown at him, he quickly wiped his mouth and stood up beside Xu Huo.
"Is that why you kept that guy upstairs in Rose Castle?" Xu Huo was not so wary of Mr. Dong; instead, he initiated conversation.
Mr. Dong’s expression remained unchanged as he spoke in ventriloquism, "The master has said a guest’s mistakes can be forgiven but not more than three times. You have set fire to the rooms twice."
Xu Huo chuckled, "Let’s be reasonable, the first time the room was set on fire was you causing trouble for me. Moreover, most of the destruction was your doing."
Mr. Dong was silent.
"Was this place also a replica venue five years ago?" Xu Huo asked again.
"No," Mr. Dong said, taking out a small notebook from his pocket and began to record the items destroyed in the room.
Seeing him busying himself, Yu Shuai spoke with a hint of worried suspicion, "What should we do now?"
"Of course, we go back to our rooms and sleep," Xu Huo pointed outside the window, "The other players will arrive soon."
This time, Yu Shuai didn’t return to the wall but quickly exited through the front door instead.
After Xu Huo returned to his own room, You Qiwen and the others entered the second floor. Seeing Mr. Dong who was opening the door and tallying items, they broke out in sweat on their foreheads and tried to minimize their presence as much as possible.
Just ten minutes ago, they were full of confidence in killing Mr. Dong, as he was not only the one holding their belongings but also one of the reasons for the guests’ disappearance. They thought that killing him might earn them extra points in the game. However, after aimlessly wandering in the labyrinth and failing to hurt Spider-Man, they realized it was a wild fantasy.
The only relief was that Mr. Dong had no intention of retaliating against them; otherwise, they only had one way out—death.
Mr. Dong did not leave the second floor all night, and the players waited with their eyes open until dawn. It was only after the servants got up and started bustling about that they finally breathed sighs of relief.
Chen Tu, Chen Nan, the Chen brothers, didn’t sleep all night. At the break of dawn, they sought Xu Huo immediately, "What happened last night? Was there a fierce fight on this side of the castle?"
"It’s nothing serious." Xu Huo, who was injured, didn’t intend to conceal it from them, "I had a confrontation with Hu Shan last night."
The brothers exchanged surprised looks. Chen Tu said, "No wonder Mr. Dong left not long after we pursued him... I think he doesn’t seem to hold any malice toward the players."
Xu Huo nodded, "Mr. Dong is neutral toward the players; he is indifferent to our life and death."
"Then there was no need for us to confront him," said Chen Nan. "In my opinion, that Hu Shan is more dangerous."
Xu Huo’s gaze grew solemn, speaking frankly, he had secretly breathed a sigh of relief when Mr. Dong returned yesterday. The difficulty of the Rose Castle replica lay in the replica boss who sought to completely annihilate the players. Fighting alone, he couldn’t defeat Hu Shan and the longer the delay, the more likely it was that He Pu would join the fray personally.
Now, with He Pu and Mr. Dong restraining each other, it had become the players’ only chance of survival.
"Gather the other players; I know the whereabouts of the missing guests," Xu Huo threw out his words.
The players, who were becoming increasingly desperate as time ran out, hurriedly gathered upon hearing the words conveyed by the Chen brothers.
"Do you really know, or are you just bluffing us?" Liu Zhengping said anxiously.
