Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 349: Damage Transfer

Chapter 349: Chapter 349: Damage Transfer

The Garden Maze was taller and denser than it appeared from the outside, with a path wide enough for only two people to walk side by side. The intertwined branches and the thickness of the flower walls, at least two meters, made them impassable with a knife or an axe in a short time.

Moreover, probably because no one had tended to it in a long time, there were snake nests among the shrubbery.

The vast maze was all passageways, and after walking a third of the way, he had not found any signs of digging.

By this point, Xu Huo was certain that those "missing guests" from before were most likely not buried anywhere in the old castle.

There was no point in going any further, so he led the servant back the way they came.

"Has the rain stopped, and is the bridge passable now?" he asked.

"Mr. Xu, do you plan to leave?" the servant asked in surprise. "But the appraisal event isn’t until the evening after next."

Xu Huo smiled, "I need to buy some things."

The servant smiled with him, "You can make a list and leave it with me or another servant, and we’ll purchase them for you. It won’t take much time to come and go."

Xu Huo took out a list he had prepared in advance, "Just a few small items, but it might be a bit troublesome because I didn’t bring much cash with me this time, so I only have a few pieces of jewelry on hand."

The servant immediately said, "There’s a pawnshop in town. If Mr. Xu trusts me, I can handle it for you."

The young girl became shy after she spoke, "I wouldn’t deceive you."

Xu Huo handed her a diamond ring with a gentle smile, "I won’t let you make the trip for nothing, take one-tenth of whatever this ring pawns for."

The servant showed a slight panic, but Xu Huo said, "Consider it a fee for keeping my secret, as being short on cash isn’t something to be proud of."

The servant then agreed to do it.

When they returned to the main building, Xu Huo had her bring some strong alcohol to his new room.

At the door, he hesitated, but then he turned the doorknob.

"Click!" As soon as he opened the door, his eyes were dazzled for a moment, and two hands shot out from the side, one on the left and one on the right, grabbing his arms and dragging him into the room.

It was the twin players.

He swung a punch and a kick, sending both reeling backward. The piano wire snagged the neck of the one on the left and yanked him away, while the Crimson Sword parried three sleeve arrows shot from the right!

Ding! Ding! Ding!

With three crisp sounds, the person on the left had already broken free from the control of the piano wire, and with a leap, his knees shot towards Xu Huo mid-air!

Being close to an armed man was unwise. Xu Huo carefully retreated, but the other twin came from behind and traced his fingers on the ground, announcing "Chu River Han Border!"

In front of him, a barrier rose up behind Xu Huo like a flow of water!

Cut off from retreat, he was trapped. The still-unsuccessful twins already had a smile of assured victory on their faces, but in an unexpected moment, Xu Huo pulled on the piano wire and hoisted himself up, causing the twin in front to kneel on the water-like barrier.

His knees didn’t actually hit the barrier but released a golden, arc-shaped shockwave about thirty centimeters away, which shattered the water barrier!

The twin from behind was affected by the impact. The one who launched the knee attack, Chen Nan, couldn’t help but yell, "Brother!"

"I’m fine!" Chen Tu stepped back, quickly signaling him to check on Xu Huo.

Chen Nan turned his head, only to see Xu Huo’s long sword emitting a red glow from the hilt, and then a Sword Qi slashed toward him!

Xu Huo hadn’t intended to be lethal, so he targeted Chen Nan’s left arm. However, as the Sword Qi vanished, there was no mark on his shoulder—instead, his own left shoulder ached terribly, and when he glanced over, there was a bone-deep laceration from his shoulder to his armpit!

Injury transfer?!

"Strike him down while he’s weak!" Chen Tu leveraged his position to rise, shooting several arrows at him, while Chen Nan followed up from the front!

Xu Huo knocked away the sleeve arrows and fell to the ground, unhesitatingly swinging his sword at Chen Nan once more, aiming at the same left shoulder!

The Chen Brothers were briefly surprised, seemingly not expecting him to dare to swing his sword after being subjected to injury transfer, so they advanced and retreated!

In those brief few seconds, Xu Huo had grasped the limitations of this magical item. Firstly, the injury transfer had a limit on the number of times or a time restriction—it certainly couldn’t happen a second time in quick succession. Secondly, the type of damage transferable was limited; the twins had been punched and strangled by a string previously, and those injuries hadn’t transferred to him. Of course, it’s also possible that the item needed time to activate.

Lastly, the reason to believe it was a magical item was that Chen Tu, who rushed over, also didn’t seem afraid of being hit by a sword, pushing his speed to the limit without any intention of dodging.

Planning to use the time bought by this sword strike to seize an opportunity?

Xu Huo lifted his sword without hesitation, still aiming for the left arm, but Chen Tu, having figured it out, unexpectedly shifted a bit to the left himself!

The Crimson Sword could easily bisect a person, and Chen Nan’s arm should have been severed, but the damage reflected on him wasn’t as severe, at least two-thirds less potent. It wasn’t time for a do-or-die effort yet, and Chen Tu’s actions confirmed that even fatal wounds could be transferred.

This sword strike did nothing except add another wound to himself.

Xu Huo kicked a chair beside him, using it to block the sword aimed at Chen Tu.

Chen Tu was momentarily taken aback but soon his expression hardened. He slid on his knees under the shattered chair, rolling up to Xu Huo and slapped the ground, "Draw Ground as Prison!"

A line of water drew a circle around Xu Huo’s feet. He tried to step out but found his feet as though nailed to the ground, unable to move.

He flung the Non-Knotting Thread to ensnare Chen Tu, then hoisted him up by the thread, choking him. The moment Chen Tu was lifted off the ground, his own feet became mobile again. He delivered a kick right into the oncoming Chen Nan, slamming him against the wall before turning back to add another kick to Chen Tu.

The brothers showed pain on their faces, but their rich combat experience quickly kicked in. Chen Tu smeared something on his neck and slipped out of the bindings like a snake!

"If you come at me again, I’m going to get serious," Xu Huo warned before they could move.

The brothers hesitated for a moment but chose to attack the next instant.

This time, Xu Huo didn’t confront them head-on but instead rushed to the other side of the room!

The twin brothers’ faces turned pale as they hurriedly followed, but it was too late—Xu Huo had already struck down the standing mirror by the vanity!

"Crack!" The mirror shattered easily, and Xu Huo frowned slightly, but upon seeing the pained expressions on the Chen Brothers’ faces, he confirmed he hadn’t targeted wrongly.

"Chu River Han Border!" Chen Tu drew a line with two fingers, pulled up a water stream barrier, and fled with Chen Nan towards the door.

Xu Huo wasn’t about to let them escape so easily, he flicked his lighter, and flames engulfed Chen Tu!

"Brother!" Chen Nan rushed to help, tearing at the burning clothes, but by then Xu Huo had already bypassed the water barrier, confronting them. As he raised his sword, Chen Nan flung open his arms in front of Chen Tu, yelling, "You’re now our substitute, wounding my brother is just like wounding yourself! Even if the magical item is destroyed, its effect remains!"
