Chapter 346: Chapter 346 The First Player to Die

"Shsss!" The chain ripped through another curtain, carving a gash in the wall and sending a standing cabinet smashing toward Xu Huo!

"Bang!" Xu Huo lifted his Sword and split the cabinet in two, saying, "There’s no need to kill me at all costs. Why not sit down and talk?"

Spider-Man ignored him, dragging another long whip of a foot out, its movement so agile it nearly swept across half the room.

Although Xu Huo had piano wire in his hands, the space left for him to move remained minimal, dodging the chains that lashed out one after another, he flipped open a lighter and set the curtains on the floor ablaze!

It seemed that Spider-Man feared the flames, immediately withdrawing, its central body completely airborne, with three feet guarding the front, using two other legs to hook the edges of the curtain, tossing the flames out the window in an overlapping throw.

Unfortunately, the speed of putting out the fire couldn’t keep up with the ignition. The lighter’s sound was crisp, and the carpet on the floor caught fire too.

Spider-Man whirled its body, scurrying up the wall, and with the advantage of a bounce, it lunged at Xu Huo!

Even though the Spider-Man was faster, Xu Huo could barely keep up, using his enhanced environmental manipulation skills from his "Super Evolution" and relying on tools. After dodging the fifth attack from the spider’s legs, he lunged forward and tore down the remaining half of the huge curtain still hanging, threading and dragging it with the piano wire, directly covering Spider-Man!

With a ’ting’ noise, flames surged up, illuminating the dark room in an instant, but in the next moment, the outstretched legs tore it to shreds.

Xu Huo was also prepared, smashing half his store of goods in one breath. The flames splashed with the flying liquor, instantly expanding, turning the whole room into a sea of fire within moments!

He retreated to the window and looked back, only to see Spider-Man stabbing a pair of legs into its chest, followed by the flames in the room going out, all the broken items, including the carpets and incompletely burned curtains, flowing backward in their original trajectories like time reversing—the smashed cabinet rebuilt itself in midair, the overturned sofa and tables were repositioned, and even the torn curtains were gathering back towards the window!

The speed of the objects’ restoration varied. With a frown, Xu Huo retreated onto the balcony, not expecting that Spider-Man would also reverse out of the room, maintaining its backward form as it crawled onto the roof.

Xu Huo didn’t follow but swung his Sword at the lamp that was being restored.

The almost repaired lamp was interrupted in its process and immediately fell to the ground again, breaking apart.

He glanced at other objects around him, either already restored or in the process of restoration. It couldn’t really be considered restored; the burned curtains did not mend properly and were still falling to the ground in tattered pieces. Likewise, the supposedly restored cabinets were just shoddily pieced together and would fall apart at a touch.

In those two breaths’ time, a piercing scream tore through the night sky. He quickly opened the door and stepped out, running into the Ma Family Couple holding a mobile phone.

Mrs. Ma, with Mr. Ma’s arm in her grasp, said with schadenfreude, "Quite some commotion, are you alright?"

Xu Huo swept a glance over her and walked first towards Fang Min’s room—outside that room already stood two players, with others following suit.

"What happened?" Liu Zhengping asked.

The scream came from a young servant, who spoke incoherently, "I went to the bathroom... saw a light on the second floor... then I saw something happened to Miss Fang... She was in her room!"

The servant referred to the sickly pale Wei Landeng.

Standing at the door before were Flay and Li Chao, now heading over were Liu Zhengping, You Qiwen, and Yu Shuai, with just a glance their expressions turned grave.

"Dammit!" Liu Zhengping reflexively turned his head away.

Xu Huo had reached the doorstep, his eyes sweeping over the situation inside the room.

Fang Min was dead, not just dead, but had died gruesomely.

The room was dark, light coming only from the doorway; the beam extended from the entrance to the large coffee table in the center of the room, where two cleanly severed, snow-white lower legs lay side by side. The remainder of the body had vanished without a trace, the surroundings awash with not yet coagulated blood and some fragments of organs. The stark contrast with the clean coffee table was a gut-wrenching sight.

"Is that Fang Min?" Mrs. Ma craned her neck from behind.

"Someone’s here!" Yu Shuai, who was then inspecting the room, suddenly shouted, raising his arm to gesture a shooting signal towards the balcony outside. A bullet hole silently appeared in the brick wall!

Flay immediately rushed to the balcony, looked left and right, then shook his head, "Nothing."

"I just saw a pair of red eyes." Yu Shuai frowned, "I’m sure I hit the target."

"Even if you hit them, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re injured." You Qiwen, after having knocked out the panicked maid and placed her in the corner, stepped forward and said, "Are we sure it’s Fang Min?"

"It’s definitely her." Wei Landeng affirmed, "Her calves are particularly beautiful, uniquely..."

"Symmetrical," Xu Huo added.

Players inside and outside the room all looked up at him, but Xu Huo ignored their gazes, heading straight for the balcony. Wearing "Peeping Eye," he detected several dark spots on the exterior wall, likely ashes.

Spider-Man, after leaving his room, had also come to Fang Min’s room, probably attracted by the maid’s screams as well.

At this point, You Qiwen and others were already questioning Wei Landeng about the circumstances in which she found Fang Min dead.

"I have the habit of staying up late and after the power outage, the delayed restoration and noises nearby prompted me to check. I did not expect Fang Min’s door to be ajar, and to then find this scene..." Wei Landeng’s face showed distress as she looked away, continuing, "I was just about to inform you all when this maid came up silently."

Her story was full of holes.

The reason for leaving the room could perhaps be plausible, but upon seeing the horrific state of Fang Min’s room, shouldn’t her first instinct have been to look for other players? Why linger in a potentially dangerous place?

A maid walking up silently behind her? Footsteps, the light from a handheld lamp, wouldn’t these have alerted her? Unless the maid was also a player, which to any discerning person, was clearly not the case.

Liu Zhengping asked bluntly, "Did you kill Fang Min?"

"It wasn’t me," Wei Landeng’s expression darkened, "Believe it or not, that’s what happened."

"Young lady, I think it’s best you tell the truth," Mrs. Ma said indifferently, "unless you want to become everyone’s enemy."

Fang Min died too quickly and in such a tragic manner. For Wei Landeng, suspect numero uno, the players’ vigilance would not wane, and they might even decide to eliminate her on the spot as a precaution.

"She’s not the only suspect." Xu Huo, having made a round of the room, then said, "From the maid’s scream to the moment Mr. Ma, Mrs. Ma, and I left the house, five seconds elapsed. The three of you didn’t come out from your own rooms; you had enough time for a roundabout murder."

He was referring to Liu Zhengping, You Qiwen, and Yu Shuai.

The eyes of others shifted toward the three men.

"That’s right, I wasn’t in my room," Yu Shuai spread his hands, "but just because I was out doesn’t mean you can pin this on me. I did see a pair of red eyes just now."

"You’re the only one who saw them," Flay stared at him.
