Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die! -
Chapter 329: Twenty Deaths
Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Twenty Deaths
The scent of blood that filled the air kicked off the melee. The burly man turned around and knocked down the player who had tried to sneak attack him with a punch, and the two began to fight, quickly involving several nearby players.
Barely able to open her eyes and almost totally deaf to any sound, the female player at the front door stumbled and inadvertently awakened scattered strips of fabric on the ground to attack indiscriminately. The soft fabric flew around the carriage like Flying Arrows, pinning themselves on tables, chairs, and window glass.
Of course, the windows couldn’t be easily broken, but leaving a small mark was enough to terrify the others. Thus, the blonde man threw a water ball that rolled forward, and the wildly flying fabric arrows involuntarily pierced into it.
"Who?!" the female player roared, but her voice was completely drowned out by the thunder. She threw out a ring-like object and was about to control it when the blonde man dashed forward and pressed her hand, entangling the two in a struggle.
With no one guarding the front door now, Skinny Monkey carefully avoided others and sneaked out the front door.
Xu Huo stepped forward, but a player who had been eyeing him took the opportunity to launch a sneak attack from behind. In his state of blinded vision, he still felt a force rapidly expanding behind him.
As he dodged back and turned around, he barely opened his eyes to see what was behind him—a Paper Beast, crudely shaped, but its paw could slice a seat in half!
The Crimson Sword immediately appeared in his hand, and Xu Huo swung it, slicing the Paper Beast in half at the waist. However, once split, it didn’t lose its vitality but instantly remerged, turning its fake eyes towards him. At the same time, the player controlling the beast approached, with his fingers twisting in the air, making nearby tables and chairs fly towards Xu Huo!
The carriage was confined, and even though Xu Huo tried his best to avoid, he still couldn’t escape being cornered. He dodged other players, aiming to go through the front door to the connecting carriage, but unexpectedly, the player pursuing him suddenly stiffened. Immediately after, tables and chairs clattered to the ground, and the Paper Beast turned back into a piece of paper.
Through the dim light, one could see a bloody hand piercing through the opponent’s chest and abdomen. In the next second, a flash of light, and two more players fell into pools of blood. Startled, Xu Huo quickly pulled open the front door and slipped out. Right as the door was closing, a pair of blood-red eyes suddenly appeared on the other side of the glass, intensely staring at him and forcibly pulling the door open!
In the blink of an eye, Xu Huo fired two Liupi Worms from the Note Launcher through the gap in the door. The bloody hand wedged at the door’s edge instantly retracted, and when the flash of light sparked in the distance again, the pair of blood-red eyes had vanished.
Clutching the door, Xu Huo’s heart was anything but calm. That was definitely not a player just now—could it have been an Alien lurking near the tracks?
Before he could ponder more, Skinny Monkey came out from the front carriage, still holding the black briefcase. Seeing Xu Huo holding the door and taking a quick glance inside the carriage, Skinny Monkey gave a twisted smile and attempted to knock him out in the same way.
After the Super Evolution, Xu Huo had greatly enhanced his perception of his surroundings, capable of detecting movements without listening or looking. He dodged the attack and then kicked Skinny Monkey out with a swift back kick.
Skinny Monkey crashed into the restroom, and Xu Huo stepped forward to pick up the briefcase, immediately receiving a game prompt:
[This item has signs of life and cannot be placed in the luggage compartment.]
Just then, the door to the front carriage swung open with force. The player who made eye contact with Xu Huo saw the situation and swept a leg at him!
The opponent was incredibly fast. After Xu Huo parried a few moves, the briefcase in his hand was kicked away. The man immediately caught the briefcase and retreated back to the front carriage, clearly not intending to entangle further with Xu Huo.
Since the door had closed, Xu Huo had no desire to cause more trouble. He stood firm in front of the carriage door.
Skinny Monkey came out of the restroom and, seeing the person standing with closed eyes in front of the train car door, dared not to act rashly. Instead, he looked forward with a look of regret toward the front carriage and then waited outside the restroom.
Two hours weren’t long, but for players with acute hearing, it was an absolute disaster. In the first hour, they could still fight among themselves, but after life-and-death outcomes ensued, neither their physical strength nor their props could keep up. The continuous thunder also caused interference, thus they agreed on a ceasefire midway, waiting quietly for the Storm Zone to pass.
The storm came fiercely, but it passed quickly. As a glimmer of light appeared on the edge of the clouds, in less than ten seconds, the train completely left the Storm Zone.
Xu Huo took off his headphones and returned to the carriage. He scanned the scene inside: four were dead, and the player who controlled the Paper Beast still had a bloody hole in their chest and abdomen.
"Who did this? It’s too cruel." Skinny Monkey came over as if nothing had happened, but upon seeing that everyone else’s hands were clean, he smirked and said, "Dare to do it but not admit it, huh?"
The others’ heads were still buzzing, they couldn’t hear him clearly, but even if they did, they wouldn’t care. It didn’t matter if it was a fellow passenger who committed the murder, or if someone had killed and then used Cleansing Potion to cover the tracks—once on the train, everyone was an enemy; it didn’t matter if they were Black Player or Red Player.
Xu Huo’s carriage had the correct number of people, and there were no bodies of Liupi Worms on the floor. He walked a few steps to the back door and opened the door to the adjacent carriage.
"Such a strong smell of blood..." Skinny Monkey was right behind him, fanning the air, but upon seeing the corpses scattered all over the floor of the carriage, his expression changed as he walked in, turning over the piled bodies and feeling the neck of one.
A big hole had been smashed through a glass window, and all sixteen bodies in the carriage were laid out here. Fresh blood had soaked the carpet; each step left a wet footprint.
The howling wind outside the window brought a moment’s silence to those present, and then the doll-faced man said, "This person is too formidable."
Players didn’t fear mutual slaughter, but someone who could kill a whole carriage of players in one go was on a different level altogether. If they dared to kill so many people after crossing a Storm Zone, how many more would they kill after the lights went out?
"Could it be the Cannibal Player?" The female player’s face was pale.
"It’s not the Cannibal Player," the blond man said, "Although almost all of them were killed by penetrating the chest, the organs that were taken out are still here."
"One can kill without eating." The female player said, "Among the players I’ve encountered, only the Cannibal Players are so brutal."
"Perhaps, for everyone’s sake, we should check the player numbers," the middle-aged woman suggested, struggling to maintain composure as her eyes moved amongst the players.
"The color of the numbers can be covered up." The female player was getting agitated, "Besides, what difference does it make to find out who the Cannibal Player is?"
If this person was among them, certainly a few of them would die before exposure.
"It’s also possible that it’s an Alien that came from outside." Xu Huo finally spoke up.
