Chapter 279: Chapter 279: A Kill
In the following time, the two of them visited the remaining game points, making it ten in total, which matched the guide provided by the amusement park.
"Which game point here is fake?" Yan Jiayu shifted her gaze from the map to the person beside her, "They all seem genuine to me."
"The location of Heifeng Valley overlaps with one of the game points," Xu Huo said, "but the map is too vague. Let’s head into the valley first."
The location of Heifeng Valley was very cleverly chosen.
The main environment of Bunny Bear Park consisted of primeval forests and grasslands, with Heifeng Valley located in a mountain range not far from a game point, from which a simple map of the mountains could be purchased. It indicated that there were about seven peaks in the area.
Ahead, the entrance was nestled between two mountains, and beyond it lay a lake with waterways flowing on both sides. The lake was sizable, and atop it sat a dilapidated ancient castle. According to the stuffed dolls, it was a high-risk building that people usually avoided.
Of course, some players had ventured inside, but it was desolate and gloomy with no dolls, and so it wasn’t considered part of the game locations.
The two hid in the forest not far from the entrance, observing the constantly bustling valley mouth.
"There’s only one entrance. Should we go over the top to get in?" Yan Jiayu suggested.
"Our props have been exposed when we escaped. If those six people are waiting for us here, they’ll be prepared in advance," Xu Huo said, only glancing at the dolls mingling in the crowd before suggesting they return to the previous game point.
Re-entering the game, they successfully took down two dolls and then sewed them back together using children’s sewing kits from the stalls. After that, they followed the other people into the valley with feigned nonchalance.
Outside the ancient castle in the valley, an astonishing number of players gathered idly, waiting for the Q&A game to start. The castle had been searched by the players, but since staying inside was quite unpleasant to the senses, most only briefly toured it before exiting.
On the lawn in front of the castle, dolls were bustling about, hawkers selling candy and toys. Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu weaved through them and easily entered the ancient castle.
The structure of the castle was divided into two sections, front and rear, separated by a straight bridge spanning the lake, which was now broken in the middle. The building at the back was more dilapidated; parts of its walls and roof were broken, allowing an unobstructed view of the interior.
Connecting the two buildings, aside from the direct bridge in the middle, there was a high arch bridge at the top, with a lighthouse-like structure in the center. The arch bridge began at the top of both buildings, but the arches that could have led to the front were all broken and fallen away. The lighthouse-like structure was supported only by the arches at the back, teetering as if ready to collapse at any moment.
"This place is so rundown," Yan Jiayu whispered, but suddenly noticed people across the broken bridge moving towards them—it was the twins.
"Let’s split up," Xu Huo said, turning back toward the front section of the castle.
They went separate ways, one to the left and the other to the right, and the chasing twins also split up after entering the castle to follow them.
Xu Huo quickened his pace to the second floor. Noticing his conspicuously different movements from the other dolls, one of the taller twins cracked a smile and pulled out a slice of thin air, sending it trailing after him.
Xu Huo glanced back and suddenly accelerated towards the corridor ahead.
"Don’t think you can run!" The tall man immediately manipulated the air blades to increase his speed, but unexpectedly, two people turned the corner ahead and collided with the air blades.
Having spent a lot of time in the amusement park, one naturally ignored the NPC mascots, so when a mascot ran past them, Jin Zhao and Peng Ru did not pay attention at all. Instead, they reacted swiftly after being hit out of nowhere, immediately retreating to keep their distance.
"Get out of the way!" Annoyed by the interference, the tall man tried to use the air blades to knock the two aside. However, Peng Ru had already pulled out a palm-sized Laser Pointer. When activated, the laser beam was like an elongated Laser Sword, slashing diagonally ahead!
The tall man had just dodged the attack from the laser pointer when he was surrounded by several Paper Planes thrown consecutively by Jin Zhao. He flipped onto the wall to gain leverage when one Paper Plane struck the wall and explosively burst like a hand grenade upon impact!
There were successive explosions, stone chips flew in the corridor, the air blades were shattered, and the tall man, after quickly scanning the dust-filled air and not finding the mascot, hesitated for a moment before rapidly creating more air blades in front of him to block Jin Zhao and Peng Ru, then turned to run towards the staircase.
"Stop him!" Jin Zhao and Peng Ru chased after him in unison. But before they could destroy the air blades, a semi-transparent barrier flew from behind them. It penetrated the air blades and decapitated the tall man at an angle.
A head rolled to the ground, blood spurted out, and Jin Zhao and Peng Ru immediately turned around on guard, only to see a mascot walk around the corner and pull off its head.
"It’s you!" When they saw Xu Huo’s true face, the two did not relax but instead asked, "Did you bring this player here?"
"Somebody wanting to kill and plunder, chasing me all the way here." Xu Huo put the mascot’s head to the side, took out a body bag from the luggage compartment, quickly walked over to put the decapitated head and body into it, and then put it back into the luggage compartment.
The twin’s ability to work together was quite effective, but when it came to fighting alone... While air blades could trap a person and regular gadgets were ineffective against it, making it seem strong, their ineffectiveness also meant that it still acted like air to some gadgets. A Sword could pass through the blade, and he could control the piano strings through the blades earlier, indicating that it could not completely block gadget effects, hence long-range attack gadgets could still affect the player.
Peng Ru looked a bit disgusted, "After putting away the body, can you still use your luggage compartment?"
Her luggage compartments were used for daily necessities and food.
"The luggage compartment has an automatic cleansing function," Xu Huo responded without looking up.
Peng Ru moved her lips but said nothing more, and Jin Zhao, seeing how things had turned out, asked, "Does he have any companions? To avoid being targeted, let’s leave here first."
Xu Huo poured out some Cleansing Potion on the ground and cleaned up most of the bloodstains on the ground and on himself. Then he followed the two into another corridor.
"Why haven’t we seen Miss Yan?" As the three found a relatively secluded room to stop, Peng Ru said, "This castle is quite strange; it’s better to move when there are more people."
"She went to the other side," Xu Huo said. "There is a partition in the middle of this building. To find her, we would have to go back downstairs. It’s very likely that I’m being watched; it’s not convenient to look for her."
"No need to go downstairs." Jin Zhao walked towards the left wall of the room and pressed down a decorative painting, and a small door popped open in the wall adorned with dense square patterns.
