Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 186 Empty Elevator Shaft

Chapter 186: Chapter 186 Empty Elevator Shaft

Passing through here, the spacious office area lay ahead, fifty meters in length and width, soaring upwards. By now, a considerable crowd had gathered, exceeding a hundred in number, comprised of both players and civilians.

"What is this place? How did I get here?"

"I don’t know either, I was just walking down the road and suddenly a thick fog appeared, and when I opened my eyes, I was here!"

"Could it be players from the Outer Area? Are they going to kill us?"

"I don’t want to die!!!"

"...This looks like those ’Copies’ mentioned on the internet..." someone said with a cry in their voice, "Haven’t there been rumors that not only players but also regular people can be dragged into Copies? And that they’re those with a very high death rate random instances!"

"We’re doomed! We’re done for..."

"Ah!!! There’s a human head here!" A woman screamed as she kicked a skull out.

The people around scattered as if afraid of catching a deadly virus, opening a path in the middle.

That skull rolled toward the wall in the distance, coming to a stop against the rear of a small car.

"Why is there even a car here?"

Zheng Liang, who had been pushed aside, shook his head and got up. He hurried over to the car, pulled open the door, and dragged out Gu Yu, who was bleeding from her forehead.

Gu Yu had originally planned to leave the Mist Area at full speed, so she had no time to react when her car hit the wall at close range. Fortunately, although the front of the car was smashed, she only sustained a cut on her forehead from the glass.

At this point, several other players who had entered with them came over. The young man in the skull head short sleeves went to support Gu Yu, "Sister Gu Yu, are you alright? Want some Potion?"

Gu Yu shook her head and asked, "How many of our people have come in?"

A few more people made their way through the crowd. The dozen players who had come out of the bar to chase Xu Huo were all here now.

"Damn it, that Xu really screwed us over!" A player with a stubbled face was angrily searching through the crowd, "Did that kid make it in?"

"He’s definitely here. Once in a Copy, no one can escape. Let’s give him a beating first, and then see where he’ll run off to!" Zheng Liang took a quick look around, his keen eyes spotting Xu Huo standing at the back of the crowd. He pushed through the people and walked towards him, and other players followed suit.

Everyone else hastily retreated, suddenly clearing the space in the middle. Zheng Liang and the others surrounded Xu Huo, sneering, "Try running now!"

Xu Huo toyed with a lighter, glancing at Zheng Liang, "If I were you, I’d be more worried about my own situation."

"Thinking about that after the fight won’t be too late!" Zheng Liang rolled up his sleeves.

"Snap!" Xu Huo lit the lighter, and suddenly, a table three meters away from him burst into flames.

Zheng Liang was startled and reflexively stepped back.

"This entire floor is within my fire-starting range. I don’t mind killing a few people before cracking the Copy, it’s up to you to see who dies."

The dozen or so players looked at each other. Most of them had no personal grudges with Xu Huo; they were just there for White Notes. Nobody wanted to be the first to stick their neck out.

"What are you guys doing!" Gu Yu pushed Zheng Liang, "Didn’t you check the Copy information before you came in? This is a Level D Copy with very high risk. Starting off with infighting, who can guarantee they’ll make it out alive?"

"I’ve already checked; there’s no danger here," the stubble-faced player pinched his fingers and said, "Doesn’t the introduction to the copy just hint that there might be fierce mutated animals and plants?"

"But take a look at this floor; you can see to the end in one glance. Where would the mutated animals come from?"

"The game notes that this place has been abandoned for a long time. Maybe those animals have starved to death long ago!"

"Brother Tie is right," another player with a mole at the corner of his mouth chimed in, "Besides, we have more than ten people. This Level D Copy only requires ninety hours, so even if we encounter any mutated animals, can’t we deal with them with our numbers?"

Compared to the random copies encountered by Gu Yu and other players from the organization before, the "Xiaohua Honghong Building" copy gave a specific time, rather than a mere "unlimited." Therefore, theoretically, all one had to do was survive ninety hours.

Instead of seeking an opportunity to crack the copy like a headless fly, passively defending for ninety hours was far more secure.

"But that’s no reason for us to fight amongst ourselves," Gu Yu paused, "Infighting will benefit no one."

"How could it be mutual destruction?" the stubble-faced player said, "Just beat him until he can’t take care of himself and it’ll be fine."

His words made the other players antsy. At that moment, Xu Huo pointed towards the fog-shrouded windows outside, "Do you guys realize how high up we are?"

"It shouldn’t be more than fifty meters," Gu Yu turned to look at the nearby elevator. The elevators facing the office area were all stopped at the fifteenth floor.

"If this were a normal building, that number would be about right, but the architecture in a copy might be different."

Xu Huo lit a cigarette for himself, "Judging by the height of this floor’s ceiling, the fifteenth floor is at least close to a hundred meters."

"We can’t open the elevator doors, all the windows are shattered, and there’s blood everywhere—it doesn’t look like the work of in-fighting."

"The elevator doors won’t open?" Zheng Liang was startled. He hurried over and pressed the elevator button, testing several elevators in a row, none of which moved an inch. Just as he was about to forcibly pry open the doors, the Skull head short sleeves player quickly stopped him, "Don’t do it! Didn’t you see the bloodstains came from inside the elevators? The danger might be in there!"

"We’ll find out if we try," Xu Huo picked up a stapler and threw it with force at the elevator door. After a loud "thud," there seemed to be an echo from behind the elevator.

Zheng Liang’s face changed, "Something’s off, there seems to be an empty space behind the elevator."

Xu Huo listened intently for a while, "There shouldn’t be anything alive in the elevator shaft, but I can’t rule out the presence of mutated plants."

"So what if there are?" the mole-faced player said, "Worst-case scenario, we just stay on the fifteenth floor and not go down!"

"Are you dumb?" another player wearing glasses slapped him, "Look at the glass shards on this floor; they are all splattered inward. That means the attack came from outside!"

"Think about it, what kind of thing would attack from outside at a height of a hundred meters!"

These words caused those close to the windows to panic and squeeze inward.

"There are no stairs here. Over the next ninety hours, we’ll all find the elevator useful," Xu Huo scanned the crowd, "If you guys don’t want to fight, then why not check if the elevator works first?"

Zheng Liang’s rage had already diminished considerably. He shot a glance at the still-agitated stubble-faced player, suggesting, "Let’s talk about anything else after we get out."

Brother Tie, rubbing his stubble, clicked his tongue. Despite his displeasure, he went to the elevator and took out a thin metal strip-like object, inserted it into the crevice of the doors, then wiggled it left and right. The tightly closed elevator doors opened a gap wide enough for two palms side by side.

He peered inside, "It’s pitch black; I can’t see anything. Somebody give me some light."

The Skull head short sleeves player took out a lighting device and had barely shone the light inside when a flesh-colored, suction-cup-like object appeared in the dark elevator shaft and, opening wide, grabbed onto Brother Tie’s head!
