Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 173: The True Purpose of the Player

Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The True Purpose of the Player

"That makes sense," Xu Huo nodded. "And even if the old lady from the Delicious Sausage Shop is a Cannibal Player, you could also say she let you and others go on purpose to lead you to Granny Bai."

"You, Yang Sheng, and that Cannibal Player following me are in cahoots, aren’t you?"

"Since you were following me and also happened to stop by the Delicious Sausage Shop, you guys must not be players from the government office."

"If the players from the government office could trust a low-level copy player, and if it were viable to use the Access Card to trace this route, Fairy Tale City wouldn’t have been peaceful for the past ten or twenty years."

"You and Yang Sheng are egging other players on to find Granny Bai, not for the sake of clearing the game. What are you really here for?"

Tao Chengxin quietly distanced himself from Tang Yuan and moved a bit closer to Xu Huo and the others.

Tang Yuan faced the three of them, his demeanor shifting from previously polite to a cold sneer. "Looks like you guys are planning to kill and seize goods."

Xu Huo didn’t take the bait, just watched him perform.

"From beginning to end, only you have been talking. Up to now, some players have died, others are trapped, how can you be sure he and Granny Bai aren’t lying?" Tang Yuan said, glancing at Sun Jirou and Tao Chengxin. "It might well be them drawing on a plan to bring in the government office’s people, then play a double act to clear their names!"

"What if what you’re saying is true?" Sun Jirou appeared calmer compared to Tao Chengxin’s confusion and bewilderment. "Whether it’s Fairy Tale City or the government office, who’s a good guy and who’s a bad guy doesn’t make much difference to me, but since you used us to get in here, you ought to at least tell us what it is you’re looking for."

"If this place really is that dangerous, we’re all taking a risk, and it wouldn’t be fair to let you reap the rewards alone."

Seeing his attempts at sowing discord were unsuccessful, Tang Yuan no longer intended to waste words with them. He threw out a dazzling ball, and while the sudden burst of blinding light from the ball made everyone else unable to open their eyes, he reached out for the inconspicuous flower on the ground!

But before he could pluck the flower, Xu Huo, with his eyes closed, was already behind him, delivering a kick straight to the back of his head.

Tang Yuan narrowly dodged, trying to take the flower with him as he moved aside, but his arm was suddenly grabbed by someone. Without even turning around, he heard Xu Huo say, "You can go, but leave the item behind!"

With a cold laugh, Tang Yuan kicked back, pushing him away, then quickly rushed towards Tao Chengxin to retrieve his glove!

Tao Chengxin, with his experience from Bear’s Paw Restaurant, had already released his frog, big as a human head, which clamped onto Tang Yuan’s wrist with a bite!

Tang Yuan’s glove had defensive capabilities, so the bite didn’t pierce through, but he still felt intense pain. As he retreated with his other glove, he suddenly stepped on black spikes emerging from the ground!

This was Sun Jirou’s doing!

Since all the players had enhanced hearing, they could pinpoint locations by sound when they’re unable to see, so the ball attack could only serve as a surprise tactic. After the first few seconds, Tang Yuan no longer had the upper hand.

But unexpectedly, Sun Jirou’s blind attacks didn’t discriminate between friend and foe, and Tao Chengxin, moving towards Tang Yuan, also had both his feet pierced!

"Sun Jirou, I curse your father!" Tao Chengxin screamed as he retreated.

Sun Jirou’s face turned red with anger, "Aren’t you even a woman anymore!"

"Whether I’m a woman or not is none of your business!" Tao Chengxin retorted, picking up a fishing rod and swinging it furiously in the direction of the voice.

Sun Jirou, of course, wouldn’t just stand there and take a beating. Since the two of them were allies now, she didn’t go for the kill, but used the fishing rod to engage in close combat with Tao Chengxin.

The two fought in a scuffle, and Tang Yuan took this opportunity to attempt an escape, but Xu Huo, holding a guitar string, flew in from one side and kicked a glowing ball on the ground far away, mistakenly grabbing the upper part of the flower stalk in the process!

"Let go!" Tang Yuan slashed his sword at his throat in retaliation.

Bull Shield blocked the attack head-on, and Xu Huo bent over, ramming his shield against him and knocking him to the ground, strangling his throat with the flying guitar strings!

Tang Yuan reacted extremely quickly, lifting his hand to block under his jaw and, after prying open the guitar strings with his Short Sword, he spat forward while kicking the shield away!

Xu Huo dodged the attack and kept a three-meter distance between them, glancing at the broken flower in his hand, and nudged his chin towards him, "It’s broken."

Tang Yuan clearly didn’t expect the flower to be so fragile, snapping into two with a tug. While he was bent over checking the flower’s condition, the soil around its roots suddenly rustled and fell away, revealing the stem inside started to twist on its own and spread root tendrils out, morphing into a ball-shaped humanoid object!

"This flower has become an enchanted one!" The two fighting also stopped, and Tao Chengxin’s eyes widened, "I’ve never seen a plant turn into a spirit before!"

"It’s a prop!" Sun Jirou said disdainfully.

Clearly, Sun Jirou was right. As the ball-shaped object unfolded its body, its slender roots that served as limbs suddenly pierced into Tang Yuan’s arm. Then, a mouth full of sharp teeth appeared within the ball and bit off his hand in one gulp!

"Pah!" Instead of eating the severed hand, it spat it out to one side and contracted its roots to move up the body, trying to bite Tang Yuan again!

"What the hell is this thing!" Tang Yuan yelled in shock and anger, shaking off the roots and chopping at them with his Short Sword, but in just two or three seconds, the plant’s tendrils had crawled up along his blood vessels, seemingly absorbing enough nutrients to grow back as much as he cut off!

"Hiss!"

"Pah!"

After the humanoid root bit off another chunk of his arm, Tang Yuan had no choice but to chop off his own arm along with the roots altogether. The humanoid root fell to the ground, its tendrils floating in the air, apparently looking for another target.

Tang Yuan turned and ran, while Tao Chengxin and Sun Jirou instinctively backed away, but they didn’t expect the humanoid root to show no interest in them and instead hopped and skipped after Tang Yuan!

"I’m glad I didn’t try to pull out that flower just now," Tao Chengxin said with a face full of relief.

Meanwhile, Xu Huo had already used his guitar strings to collect his belongings. He opened the cage, splashed the solution onto the puppet creature, and took it chasing after them.

The three of them followed closely behind Tang Yuan and the humanoid root. As they chased, the scenery in front of them suddenly blurred, and the forest transformed into an unfamiliar small courtyard!

All those who entered were stunned for a moment, but then Tang Yuan wasted no time and fled through the door. Xu Huo and the other two had to follow, only for the surroundings to shift again outside the courtyard, this time turning into a place resembling a temple altar.

The group didn’t linger and immediately ran through this area as well.

During the chase, the slime on the puppet creature also melted away. Xu Huo threw away the cage and commanded it, "Catch that ball up ahead!"

The puppet creature ran with him while tilting its head to watch him, its dull, lifeless eyes remained blank as ever.
