Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 167: Trust No One

Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Trust No One

"I’ll do it," Tang Yuan said, scratching his head. "If the government office people find the female guide and we can clear the level, the higher the risk, the more likely we’ll get a bigger game reward."

"That settles it!" Wang Qiao hurriedly said and then turned to Sun Jirou, "Anyway, the props are in the two of your hands; if anything happens, you guys need to take the lead."

Sun Jirou gave him a cold glance and walked off first.

Tang Yuan and Yang Sheng followed behind her, with Wang Qiao and Gao Baimei in the middle, and Xu Huo and Tao Chengxin trailing at the back.

As they passed a restaurant, Xu Huo stopped the people in front, "It’s almost afternoon; are you guys hungry? Let’s grab something to eat before we go."

Wang Qiao and the others turned back to see the discount dishes posted at the restaurant’s entrance; their faces twitched as Gao Baimei sourly said, "Some people just have money. Unlike us, we can only pick the cheaper options."

The nearby shops were all high-end, but Yang Sheng spotted a shop at the next street corner and suggested, "Let’s go there."

Sun Jirou, not lacking money, hesitated slightly between Xu Huo, Tao Chengxin, and Tang Yuan before choosing the latter.

Tao Chengxin, feeling the pinch, reluctantly followed Xu Huo into the restaurant.

The moment they entered the private room, Tao Chengxin sat down and stared hard at Xu Huo, who calmly sat down, drank tea, ordered dishes, and ignored her gaze as if she weren’t there.

Feeling defeated, Tao Chengxin took the initiative to speak, "Why do you want to split from them?"

"Why are you following me?"

"Compared to those people, you’re more cunning," Tao Chengxin said. "You actually don’t care about those two props at all, do you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You’re afraid the old lady tampered with the props." Tao Chengxin said with conviction, paused, and then continued somewhat despondently, "You were right; my special effect is useless because my trait also determined the old lady’s words as true."

"Her story differs from the female guide’s, but there can only be one true fact among the two. It must be my trait that’s malfunctioning."

"It’s not necessarily your trait that malfunctioned," Xu Huo said. "You didn’t understand Fairy Tale City in advance and lacked the basis to discern truth from falsehood. Aside from factual recognition, you probably have to rely on others’ heartbeats to determine if they are lying."

"If that’s the case, it’s easy to deceive you."

Tao Chengxin’s eyes widened slightly, then she asked, "Then who do you think is telling the truth?"

"I don’t trust anyone," Xu Huo glanced at her, "The dishes are here."

Tao Chengxin held back her words until the waiter finished serving the dishes and left before she hurriedly asked, "Do you mean they are all lying?"

"If so, wouldn’t that mean we can’t complete the first two tasks?"

"Lying doesn’t mean it’s not the correct story," Xu Huo said. "The instance requires us to find the person telling the correct story, not one that is 100% true."

"Both the female guide and the old lady talked about the pollution incident from twenty years ago, so they roughly count as the people telling the correct story. As long as we find the Tooth, our mission will be considered complete."

"In that case, doesn’t it mean that what the old lady from the Delicious Sausage Shop said is the true story?"

"Truth or fabrication doesn’t matter; all we need to do is find the Tooth," Xu Huo said.

Tao Chengxin rubbed her head, "No, I still don’t understand; according to what you said, anything could be possible. The ’Angel’s Tooth’ mentioned by the old lady might not even exist. Are we not being tricked into finding someone for her? And to top it off, we’re taking on a great risk!"

"Didn’t they promise two props? It wouldn’t be a wasted trip," Xu Huo replied indifferently.

Tao Chengxin stared at his calm face, observing him intently for a while before saying, "I used to think others were fools, but now it seems I’m not so clever myself."

Xu Huo gave her an appreciative look.

This time, Tao Chengxin didn’t show any emotion but simply picked up his chopsticks and ate his meal in silence.

After finishing the meal, they came across several tourists laden with large and small bags, ready to leave Fairy Tale City. Xu Huo helped them carry their luggage to the entrance, then doubled back to settle the bill.

"Four thousand, two thousand each," he said to Tao Chengxin.

Tao Chengxin paid the money with difficulty.

As the two headed towards the street corner, Sun Jirou and her four companions had already been waiting for a while.

"Are we just going to stand around waiting for someone to come to us?" Gao Baimei asked.

"We’ve already been to Sunflower Courtyard, and there was no one there, besides waiting there’s nothing we can do," Sun Jirou felt that the female tour guide wouldn’t have returned there after they left.

"Finding someone is simple," Xu Huo said at that moment. "Let’s go to True Love Plaza, maybe she’s waiting for us there."

"Are you out of your mind? Why would she still be there!" Gao Baimei blurted out. "Isn’t she afraid of being found by the government office players?"

Xu Huo smiled, "She has something she wants, so she’ll definitely be moving around outside. Anyway, you don’t have any better ideas, so we might as well try our luck."

Tang Yuan and Yang Sheng exchanged a glance, with the former saying, "We still have a chance until the end of the instance tomorrow. Let’s go to True Love Plaza first. If we don’t find her, we’ll head back to Sunflower Courtyard."

With no other options, they turned their steps towards True Love Plaza.

"...After her husband died, the wife also leapt into the sea, and where they perished, blossoms covered the surface of the sea..."

The girl in the white dress was indeed at True Love Plaza.

Taken aback, Sun Jirou couldn’t help but hesitate, seeing her so confident and unafraid of the government office players. If they took the Access Card in, would the government office really have a way to deal with it?

At this moment, Xu Huo walked up with a smile and handed her the Golden Purple Flower he had bought on a whim.

The girl in the white dress accepted it with a smile, "It’s been a long time since anyone gave me flowers."

Sun Jirou and the others were doubtful of her identity and had no interest in chatting with her, but Tao Chengxin said bluntly, "No way, you’re so beautiful, hasn’t anyone given you flowers?"

Twirling the flower stem, the girl in the white dress said, "Since my husband died, no one has given me this kind of Golden Purple Flower."

"A tragedy of young love, indeed," Tao Chengxin felt no particular sorrow over death.

"Have you found the item I want?" the girl in the white dress changed the subject.

"It’s not convenient to talk here, can we go to your place?" Sun Jirou chimed in.

Without saying much, the girl in the white dress turned and led them back to the courtyard they had visited earlier. As she opened the door, all the sunflowers turned in unison.

"Even a magic door isn’t this handy," Tao Chengxin muttered under his breath.

The girl in the white dress appeared not to hear her comment and invited them in for tea.

However, the courtyard was different from what it had been during the day.

Originally, there was a small patch of sunflowers followed by a house, but now the sunflower field seemed as if it had been magically expanded. They walked for quite some time before they came to a greenhouse. Passing through the greenhouse, they finally saw a two-story residential building.

The rocking chair they had seen earlier was still inside the house, but the old man was nowhere to be found.

Once the tea was ready, the girl in the white dress sat across from Xu Huo. "Did you find my cat?"
