Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Return to the Bear’s Paw Restaurant
Tao Chengxin was brimming with offended anger, "If you don’t believe me, then forget it!"
Xu Huo didn’t argue with her but simply said, "Let’s go find the item first."
"Is the thing in the painting referring to the ’Tooth’?" Sun Jirou tentatively asked, "It seems like you don’t believe what they just said."
"I believe in my own characteristics; what they said was true," Tao Chengxin emphasized.
Xu Huo didn’t plan to explain to the two of them. After returning to the bustling streets, he casually asked someone for the location of the lost and found.
He bought two bags of fruit, and the shopkeeper became very enthusiastic, not only pointing out several lost and found spots but also telling them that if they wanted to find something, they could pay the Guard Squad, or go to a specialized auction platform.
"The people of Fairy Tale City are very honest; they won’t keep what’s not theirs. If you can’t find it at the lost and found, it’s most likely picked up by tourists to sell. Check the auction platform; we locals don’t buy things from there. If it hasn’t been gone for long, it might not have been sold yet."
"Would you like to try some fried algae clams?"
"No need," Xu Huo said as he walked away with his purchases.
Sun Jirou, on the side, couldn’t help but take another glance at the shopkeeper, who was spooning fried algae clams into his mouth, and couldn’t help saying, "I’ve been to several copies by now, yet this is the first time I am seeing such a city."
Warm and hospitable, they seemed honest and kind, yet they ate the products from their own kind without any psychological barrier.
"This is a sick city," Xu Huo said. "Maybe that’s why they have no next generation."
Sun Jirou showed surprise on her face, but Xu Huo had already quickened his pace, and she didn’t say anything else.
Tao Chengxin asked her on the side, "You also don’t believe their words, why?"
"Have you forgotten who tricked us into going to the Building Blocks MoMo Shop and Bear’s Paw Restaurant?" Sun Jirou glanced at Xu Huo’s retreating back and continued, "Even if we don’t actively look for her, that guide would come to us."
Tao Chengxin saw the chill in her eyes and pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Xu Huo ahead of them had heard their conversation but didn’t interject, instead, he logged onto the auction platform first.
The network platform of Brick Tale Town was quite different from Zone 014, obviously more advanced in technology. In less than a second, he not only found similar items, but the system also analyzed that the pattern on them was similar to the insignia of a mysterious organization in Brick Tale Town, although with small changes.
"Looks like it’s not on the auction platform," Tao Chengxin said in disappointment, "Should we go check the lost and found?"
"Of course we should," Xu Huo said, "We only have one day left. If the game requires three tasks to be completed for a pass, and we’ve completed the first two, we must try to do the last one no matter what."
"Regardless of what the storytelling woman wants, it won’t be wrong to find it for her."
Tao Chengxin harbored the same thought, "The lost and found is a bit far; we’ll have to split up to search."
Sun Jirou subconsciously looked at Xu Huo, but didn’t speak.
Xu Huo looked up at her.
"What are you looking at? It’s obvious that after being tricked by you we can’t trust you," Tao Chengxin said sarcastically, then became serious, "Honestly, you aren’t playing us this time, right?"
Xu Huo didn’t retort, instead he asked, "If earlier we had gone to find the female guide together, and she told us there are several shops where we can find the old residents of Brick Tale Town, would you go?"
Both fell silent at that.
It was a clue, of course they would go.
"Games have risks, be careful on your own," Xu Huo didn’t say much more, merely pointed out two locations on the map, "I’ll go to these two places; you two go check the others. We’ll meet back here in three hours."
After he left, Sun Jirou pursed her lips and calculated a direction for herself.
Tao Chengxin, holding the map and with a quick glance, followed after Xu Huo once Sun Jirou had walked away.
"Don’t follow me." As she turned a corner, someone suddenly spoke. She quickly stepped back to increase the distance, only then seeing Xu Huo standing against the wall as if he had been waiting for her.
Tao Chengxin dropped her combative stance and stood up straight with a smile, "Who’s following you? Is it a problem if I just want to go this way?"
Xu Huo’s expression didn’t change, but his cold eyes had already made his stance clear.
"Fine, I won’t follow you," Tao Chengxin hesitated but still asked, "I just can’t quite understand, since you don’t trust the female guide, why go out of your way to help her find something? That item may not even be part of the mission, and it’s not necessarily findable."
"I’ve already told you my reasons," Xu Huo said, "If you’ve got so much free time, you’d better check a few more lost and found spots."
"Hopeless!" Tao Chengxin glared at him furiously and then left.
When he was sure she wasn’t following him, Xu Huo headed to a nearby carving shop. He handed the pattern he had downloaded from the internet to the craftsman, "Can you make it in one hour?"
The craftsman didn’t even lift his head, "It’ll cost extra."
Xu Huo paid half the deposit upfront and then made his way to a nearby pet training shop.
"If you are planning to tame an Alien as a pet, it’s best to purchase a complete set of equipment."
"Our shop’s most popular item right now is this five-piece set."
"One sticky net, one extendable electric pole, and an imported, robust metal folding cage, plus a blindfold cover."
Xu Huo glanced at the brochure the clerk had brought out. The sticky net was made of a special kind of metal capable of withstanding the tugging of three Aliens at once. The white bubbles on the netting were a kind of mutated resin glue with very high viscosity. If the Alien really wouldn’t behave, it could be detonated remotely. However, this kind of glue had to be cleaned with a special solution as it couldn’t be removed by hand or by cutting.
Additionally, the metal folding cage could expand or contract, with the smallest size being that of a cat cage and it could increase its volume by five times when fully expanded.
"Can it hold an Alien when expanded?" Xu Huo asked, tapping on the cage’s exterior.
"Rest assured, sir, all these products have been tested. Our government bureaus use these cages for Alien tasks, and not a single Alien has broken out of the cages to date," the clerk said enthusiastically, "If you plan to keep multiple pets, you might want to get some sedatives, which can make them more obedient."
"But we don’t carry sedatives here in our shop; you’ll have to go to the store at the street corner. They have the cleansing solution for the sticky net’s glue there as well."
Xu Huo promptly paid, and the clerk even gifted him a bottle of spray that could blind an Alien temporarily.
After packing up his purchases, he went to the street corner shop to buy Potion.
This Potion shop sold mostly everyday potions. In addition to the cleansing solution for removing glue, he also bought some Insect Repellent and a special sticky patch for stray cats and dogs which apparently made it difficult for them to walk if they got caught on it.
Once he had his supplies ready, he made his way to Bear’s Paw Restaurant.
