Chapter 1412 - 1413 Relax and Unwind

Chapter 1412: Chapter 1413 Relax and Unwind

There are at least six free fighting arenas on one floor, and Arena 25 is particularly lively. Even before entering, the deafening noise is audible, interspersed with jeers like "rip her clothes" and "pull down her pants."

"The fight’s really heating up!" Li Kun walked ahead and pushed open the door, a gust of foul air rushing towards him. The light beams sweeping through the venue swiftly focused on the two individuals in the middle of the ring.

The arena is surrounded by props as barriers, preventing anyone other than the referee and the competitors from getting within five meters. The circular seating allows spectators to see everything happening on the platform clearly from any angle. Yet, despite this, many spectators jumped off their seats, clinging to the barrier and shouting inside.

Xu Huo swept a glance over the arena.

One of them was a young female player with a gentle face. This was clearly not her first match; she was injured in multiple places and was panting while consuming a potion.

Her male opponent, on the other hand, was severely injured. The blood vessel in his thigh was ruptured, and despite emergency treatments, a substantial amount of fresh blood continued to gush from the wound — he ideally needed a hospital.

"Can you do it or not!"

"If not, get down from there!"

"Can’t even beat a woman, what a disgrace to us men!"

"You’re bleeding so much, at least tear a piece of cloth from her, useless thing!"

...

The spectators kept shouting, and many hurled vulgar language at the female player, as if they could touch her body through the air and her clothes.

The female player casually tossed the bottle out of the ring, adjusted her prop gloves without changing her expression, and said to the male player opposite, "Dare to come at me? After this match, I’m taking a break!"

"This is the sixth match for the arena champion today. It seems she’s ready to take away all the gambling proceeds. Let’s see if the final challenger will give up the significant stakes right in front of him or fight on with his injuries... Our challenger steps forward; it seems he doesn’t intend to let the reigning champion pass easily!"

Arena fights allow the use of props, which greatly increase the spectacle of the match. However, it also leads to both sides attacking each other from a distance, losing that visceral thrill of blow-to-blow combat. And spectators buy tickets to see blood splatter; fancy tricks with props are better watched online.

So, under the encouragement of the audience, the injured male player used a prop to pull the female player towards him, landing a punch squarely on her chest!

The female player swiftly stepped back two steps, and with one kick, she hit the man’s chin, knocking him to the ground. Before he could get up, she threw out a rope prop, tying his hands and feet, pinning him face-down on the floor.

"The beauty’s skills aren’t bad; tying him up seems a waste. Tie me instead!" a spectator with a peculiar fetish pounded the arena barrier zealously, shouting with a flushed face.

The female player coldly glanced at the crowd, stepped over in high heels to the kneeling male player, and kicked him off the platform by stepping on his back.

Amidst the howls and cries, the referee declared the female player the winner.

The arena champion can choose whether or not to continue accepting the next challenge. The female player chose not to, took the winnings from this match, and left. A new arena champion quickly replaced her on the platform.

"We came too late," Li Kun smacked his lips unsatisfied and asked Xu Huo, "Want to check out Arena 20?"

Xu Huo looked at him steadily, prompting Li Kun to hastily explain, "I have no interest in men; didn’t they say there are many female players eager to take the stage over there? It’s usually overly masculine here, and most female players just want to catch the excitement, rarely personally engaging. I’m telling you, some girls get so fierce, they leave no room for men!"

Xu Huo followed him to Arena 20, where the number of female players clearly exceeded that of male players, and they were shouting even more wildly than the men.

The male player as the arena champion was indeed a handsome young man. He intentionally heated up the atmosphere, deliberately allowing the challenger to tear half his shirt, his firm chest and arm muscles faintly visible, earning waves of screams from the audience.

"Sisters! Aim for his lower body! We want to see the real stuff!"

The challenger successfully threw a prop from afar with the "disrobe" function, stripping the champion of his outer trousers—such small props are actually easy to defend against, but the champion clearly didn’t want to, and even spun around to show off his physique.

"I’m going blind," Li Kun waved his hands dismissively with a disdainful expression, "Let’s go; this match is too much for us!"

"Are there other types besides these free arenas?" Xu Huo asked after leaving Arena 20.

"Of course, free arenas don’t have very high stakes; winning a few matches lets you take the money of those rounds. Upstairs, there are accumulation matches with fixed numbers of matches, where you only get paid if you win to the end. If you forfeit midway or lose to opponents, you walk away with nothing. But those usually involve risking your life," Li Kun explained, "Only those very short on cash or in debt to the casino would take that gamble."

"Someone like us who isn’t short of money doesn’t need to. Besides, spending all day fighting and killing in instances, of course we want to relax coming out."

He pointed to the women moving through the corridor, "Any caught your eye? As long as you look decent and spend a little money, you can likely win them over... If you look as passable as that guy in Arena 20, the female players might flip the tables and take advantage of you!"

Li Kun sounded slightly sour but soon found a female player, threw Xu Huo a "See you tomorrow," and went over to chat her up.

The two clearly hit it off, walking off together closely.

Xu Huo casually watched another couple of matches before leaving the Star-Moon Radiance Building and took a stroll down the street to get a feel of the nearby prop stores.

The majority sold finished products, and few actually made props, with the displayed products not being of high levels either.

"How could the level of Artifact Maker you mentioned possibly do business here? People flock to their doorstep without them having to move," a store owner pointed him in a direction, "Go check the rankings on the Collection of Information Terminal; those that rank are listed there, though advanced Artifact Makers are hard to approach. You can try your luck."

Xu Huo paid for and bought two small props, then asked, "It seems particularly lively around here these days, with many people applying."

The owner smiled, "You must be an outsider; the Municipal Government is building a new ship, needing a lot of manpower, and the recruitment notices have spread out. A lot of craftsmen have come in the past few days."

"I thought most of Eye of Platinum’s industries were already mechanized," Xu Huo said.

"No way," the owner replied, "No matter how advanced machines are, they still need people to imbue them with a soul, like with props. The same materials given to different Artifact Makers end with different results. Otherwise, how would the ranking of Artifact Makers exist?"
