Chapter 141: Paper Kill
Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Paper Kill
"Shengnan," the blond man began, "how are things on your end?"
The short-haired woman in the projection was the same hypnotist player Wang Chaoqing had seen in the Skyscraper. Her pupils retained a slight reddish glow as she nodded somewhat woodenly, "The little torpedoes have been scattered out. Just now, five exploded."
"So, the Super Props have reached Sea City," the blond man said, his expression unchanged. "Can you estimate their location?"
"In three different directions," the short-haired woman said. "There’s a high probability they’re decoys."
"But I just caught a player from Zone 004," she continued. "He said he saw Lawrence Lee, who’s not in any of these three decoy directions."
She then mentioned the location.
Upon hearing the name "Lawrence Lee," an exaggerated smile spread across the blond man’s face, his eyes nearly slits with glee. "Lawrence Lee, who never rises early without promise of profit, has shown up. Wherever he is, the good stuff is certainly there too."
"Shengnan, stay put," he said and then cut off the communication, turning to give a hand signal to a tattooed strongman.
With a strange laugh, the strongman clapped his hands, and the next second, an armored vehicle burst through the wall at a speed far beyond its own. After smashing through several walls, it created a spacious passage in the large aquarium, then stopped on the street outside. Several sports cars followed one after another, picking up a few people and heading directly towards the southwest of Sea City!
Meanwhile, in a large amusement park in the southwest of Sea City, Nie Xuan quickly tied his profusely bleeding thigh with a piece of clothing, downed two Self-Healing Potions, and then dragged his severely injured body step by step towards the exit of the amusement park.
He was covered in blood, with more than twenty wounds on his body—these were the results of a bloody battle with two players from other zones.
When he truly faced his enemies, Nie Xuan was a mix of anger and regret.
He realized all his previous ideas were wrong.
When the Super Props announcement was issued and he was transferred to Jing City, his first thought was to organize players for guerrilla warfare to confuse the enemy and then take the chaos as an opportunity to enter the dungeon.
Since he didn’t have the real Super Props, and Zone 014 lacked strong players, he couldn’t fight the players from other zones, nor could he fake the appearance of being robbed and killed, leaving him with only one option to escape Zone 014.
The plan devised by the Special Affairs Bureau to divert the disaster eastward and pin the blame on players from other zones was utterly useless. Achieving the outcome where "the possessor fights desperately and escapes into the dungeon" was already the best outcome. At least it could divert some attention in the short term and buy some time for the nation.
However, of the seventeen like-minded players he contacted, fifteen died within half an hour from the start of the plan, with one escaping separately from him. This was even with the Special Affairs Bureau deploying over a dozen "possessors" to draw fire.
Those players from other zones were like sharks that smelled blood, appearing out of nowhere and not even bothering to interrogate them about the whereabouts of the Super Props, but directly killing!
Seeing his companions being slaughtered one after another made him understand a fact:
No amount of strategic cunning could make up for the absolute difference in strength!
Footsteps approached from behind, deliberately made by the pursuers. He turned around, his thumbs and index and middle fingers joined together, and with a light rub, the black leather on his body slowly changed to a magma-like color.
A player emerged from the woods, looking at him with malevolence. "You’ve got some skill, managing to kill two of my men."
Nie Xuan said coldly, "It’s just a matter of life and death, no need for nonsense."
"Ha!" The other party laughed. "Do you still think you have the strength to fight? At best, you’re holding a Rank-C item. If it weren’t for your teammate taking the knife for you, you wouldn’t be alive right now."
During the conversation, five or six figures flashed out from the woods, surrounding him and cutting off any possible escape route.
Nie Xuan sighed deeply and said, "All this effort, and not a single high-level player from the Guile Sound Knights has been lured, just a bunch of small fry instead."
And he hadn’t even managed to deceive these few small fry!
He gave up his ready-to-fight stance, straightened his back, looked around at each of them, and said, "The ones you’ve killed are just Level E players who had neither props nor potions. You’ve paid no small price, and in the end, you get nothing beneficial—a complete waste of effort."
These words struck at the hearts of the several players, one saying, "Big brother, this brat has the gall to disregard us completely!"
The player who was conversing with Nie Xuan was infuriated, "You sure have a tough mouth, but once we finish you off, we’ll naturally go and take back what we’re owed!"
As he spoke, he swung the long knife in his hand and leaped to chop at Nie Xuan, who had no strength left to fight back. Just as he was about to use his tickets to leave, suddenly, a huge poster fell from the sky, blocking the knife for him!
"Shss!" The giant poster was slashed in two, but the halves, defying expectations, flew agilely towards the knife-wielding player, winding around his legs and head and slamming him hard against the streetlight pole beside him!
The surrounding players, thinking it was one of Nie Xuan’s props, locked eyes fiercely and shouted, "Kill him!"
As the six of them attacked Nie Xuan together, a multitude of posters suddenly flew in from all sides, whirling around the group like snowflakes, sticking to their faces or entangling their limbs and dragging them off into the distance.
Nie Xuan looked around in shock and confusion but saw no trace of others. Without the time to ponder who might be helping him, he took the opportunity to escape while the players were still entangled.
Although the posters could temporarily obstruct their vision, being mere paper, they couldn’t cause harm. The players quickly realized this and chased after Nie Xuan.
Catching up with Nie Xuan was effortless, but as they did so, those torn posters followed, persistently diving into their mouths, ears, and eyes. One of the players, annoyed and angry, cursed, "Damn it, why don’t you try cutting me with paper!"
In an instant, all the fluttering pieces of paper in the air came to a standstill, hanging in the atmosphere as if time itself had paused—only three pieces with the words "gladly", "your", and "wish" on them formed a sentence in front of them.
"What the fuck...!" The player’s curse had not yet finished when the papers all lit up, then as if blades in a heavy downpour, they descended en masse!
From a distance, these fluttering papers looked more like a tumbling washing machine attacking the group nonstop. As they moved, the papers followed, and the more the players shredded the papers, the more blades there were!
Nie Xuan watched the scene before him, a thought flashing through his mind.
"That’s a Super Prop."
The words didn’t come from his mouth. Startled, he turned around to see a man in a wheelchair appear three meters away from him!
