Chapter 1404: Chapter 1405: The Magician’s Stage
For a gentleman player, the quickest way to leave an instance is to destroy it. However, destroying an instance isn’t that easy; it’s not as simple as just blowing up a few buildings. Without a considerable degree of destruction, the game won’t recognize the instance as destroyed. So, there’s a better way, which is to destroy the Instance Authorization Document or directly kill the instance holder.
The game rules state that when an instance is opened, the Instance Authorization Document must exist somewhere within the instance. Searching for it everywhere certainly won’t work. Therefore, it’s best to either level the instance buildings or kill the instance holder.
Xu Huo was missing ever since he entered the game. Although the gentleman player initially guessed that the instance belonged to the Magician, the Magician’s strength is at least Rank-B; there’s no need to bring out a Level D Copy. The only purpose of this instance might be to prevent him from entering the game, but by now, he also understands that the instance probably still belongs to Xu Huo.
"Did you use an instance to trap me so I wouldn’t enter the station?" the gentleman player laughed while manipulating Staff Notation to confront the Magician’s Moth Arts. "Don’t worry, this little melee won’t possibly make me escape!"
The lines of Staff Notation repeatedly filled the corridors of the hospital, the rest symbols trembling again, reenacting the scene in the pharmaceutical factory. It was effective against Xu Huo, but generally not much against Moth Arts. When the sonic attack entered a ten-meter radius around him, it caused several fireworks to explode out of thin air, which neutralized the power of the notes. Moth Arts himself suffered no harm, and being a Spiritual Super Evolver, he was much more adept than Xu Huo in utilizing the Spiritual World, and felt at ease in a spiritual-oriented instance like the Seventeenth Hospital.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The hospital walls exploded along with it, but it wasn’t a harmful explosion. Instead, blocks of mottled walls burst into fireworks and confetti. In an instant, the entire corridor transformed into a giant magic stage, with commonly used props for magic and the Magician himself lightly flying in the air, occasionally releasing small pets or some fireworks to interfere and affect the gentleman player.
When the gentleman player’s Staff Notation went in, it seemed to automatically soften, transforming into colorful ribbons tied under bouquets or dancing with the music. Even the notes on the lines separated and flew to his hand to bounce against it, as if trying to make him jump along...
The gentleman player sneered, grabbing a trumpet and shouted loudly at the corridor upfront: "Quiet!"
In an instant, the magic stage began to retract, revealing the original appearance of the hospital as metal peeled away at a distance. Although the stage seemed to disappear deep in the corridor, faint sounds of fireworks still came from up front, seemingly from very far away, accompanied by applause and the Magician’s voice...
"This illusion is damn impressive!" The gentleman player wiped his face, picked up Staff Notation, and strode into the depths of the corridor.
Meanwhile, in the director’s office on the rooftop of three buildings, Moth Arts was sitting across the desk talking.
"This person’s characteristics are strong. Using sound as a means of attack so effectively, I haven’t encountered many in the game. It’s a waste of talent to be a Cannibal Player."
"Him being a Cannibal Player might not be genuine," Xu Huo said. "Some people are not overwhelmed by their own instincts; rather, they embark on this path only after instincts return."
Moth Arts agreed, then said, "He’s also a Super Evolver with strong physical abilities. Let’s use this instance to wear him down first... Are you in any rush?"
Xu Huo looked up at him, "If I said I was in a hurry, would you have any solution? After this is done, I have other things to handle, and the other players in the instance also need attention."
Instance holders can interfere with the instance on a small scale but can’t openly kill players within the instance unless there are loopholes in the instance itself to exploit.
One of the clearance ways, psychological counseling, is controlled by Xu Huo, which counts as opening a backdoor. This process can kill or release people, but it doesn’t apply to those advanced players who entered.
However, excessively strong physical evolution doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good thing.
In the pharmaceutical factory, the gentleman player, relying on his Secondary Evolution, disregarded the toxins within the factory. In the confrontation, Xu Huo did find that his body could automatically detoxify; the relatively dense body hair covering him seemed to be a detoxification channel. Whether toxins entered through breathing or wounds, they eventually evaporated through sweat—a natural toxin carrier.
Whether the opponent can truly digest all toxins isn’t clear, but it doesn’t matter, as there are still plenty in the hospital. As long as there’s a "suitable" reason for bacteria to appear inside the hospital...
"I didn’t expect to use the Performance Ticket so soon," Xu Huo said. "Earlier, I feared you wouldn’t finish your task in time to make it here."
Moth Arts had chased Xu Huo to Zone 014 due to receiving a "Magician’s Gift." After several encounters, neither party could severely injure the other. Finally, he gave away "Magician’s Gift" for free, exchanged for Moth Arts’ Performance Ticket, and promised to assist as long as it was at the same-level Wormhole Points.
"I didn’t expect it so quickly. I thought I’d have to wait until I became a Rank-A player to use this Performance Ticket," Moth Arts shrugged. "Didn’t anticipate just dealing with a player of the same rank."
"A Rank-B player still requires thorough preparation before taking action, not just because the opponent is strong."
"I don’t ask much for reasons, as long as I kill this person for you."
Xu Huo appreciated his straightforwardness, "Best to hurry... but be cautious; they might carry Rank-A bacteria."
Moth Arts gave him a deep look and disappeared from the office.
As the instance holder, Xu Huo could only provide Moth Arts with convenience, and personally joining the battle was not feasible. So, he had nurses bring those twelve children over for psychological counseling.
"Director, some of the newly arrived patients went into Building Three and then came out," the nurse brought new information.
Building Three is sealed with the disease and pollutants left by Yuguo.
"It’s fine," Xu Huo was pleased, "Just have the staff and other patients take precautions, and try not to interfere with them."
The nurse agreed and left, soon returning with the children.
It was outside Xu Huo’s expectations that these children entered the instance. All along, he thought only the gentleman player was in the pharmaceutical factory. If not for accidentally entering the instance, nobody would know there was space beneath the factory, let alone so many children were locked inside.
Xu Huo beckoned to the older child, "Tell uncle your name, and uncle will write you a discharge form. After you leave, your family will come to pick you up."
"77," the older child nervously clutched his clothes, "The uncle in the laboratory said we’re sick, and we can only leave when we’re cured."
