Chapter 139: Chapter 139 I am the Player Who Got the Prop
"It’s not about fearing death, as long as you don’t fear death, you won’t be fooled by illusions." Wang Chaoqing said, "If you’re looking to rescue someone, perhaps a squad of daredevils might do the trick."
"That’s not going to work," Dr. Sun immediately responded. "We’ve tried with our warriors, the mental suppression of game props on ordinary people far exceeds our expectations!"
"Does that mean only players can pull it off?" The commander-in-chief frowned. Most of their players came from ordinary backgrounds, with some from the military, but there were too few of the latter.
"Ordinary people can do it too." A young man wearing a duck tongue cap suddenly appeared on the screen. He said, "Just now an old soldier managed to do it, and someone captured it on video."
"Good, transmit the video to us immediately."
After the video was transmitted to the command center, the commander-in-chief reminded Captain Xing to make sure to find Xu Huo, as he had also been poisoned and needed an antidote.
The video was secretly recorded and the process was clearly captured. The people in the command center saw Xu Huo’s face, and someone immediately checked his identity. After watching the video, Dr. Sun quickly analyzed the difference between the old man and their warriors.
"Being fearless in the face of death and viewing life and death with indifference are not the same."
"Our warriors would not hesitate to sacrifice themselves for the people, but they are also living beings, and it’s impossible for them to reach that state. Moreover, a person’s psychological state is variable, which is why some only succeed once. Who would wish for death if there’s hope of living?"
"So, this method is hard to implement," the commander-in-chief pondered, then added, "It seems we can only bring back that player."
"We’ve obtained his personal information," the secretary handed over the materials. "His name is Xu Huo, originally from Jing City, now living in Ting City. He was among the first batch of players sought out by Ting City First Research Institute, has cooperated with the Bureau of Special Affairs, providing them with game items. The latest versions of the POT and POA Evolution Potions were his creations."
"According to records from the Bureau of Special Affairs, he played a crucial role on the preliminary assessment train and was the first to receive a Rank-B Evaluation. It seems the random instance in the slaughterhouse collapsed prematurely due to him, ending the process in advance and rescuing several trapped ordinary people."
"This man is very outstanding," the commander-in-chief appraised, then said, "We must get him on our side!"
While speaking, the secretary brought in new materials. The commander-in-chief, seeing this, asked, "What else is there?"
The secretary hesitated for a second before continuing, "We’ve also found his past records in Jing City."
"Xu Huo was diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder in his youth and has records of treatment in a mental institution for two years. Before the age of seventeen, he was fond of gambling, with an infamous record. He once chopped off the hands of eight people during an illegal gambling match. It wasn’t until his older brother, a year his senior, was shot and killed that he settled down. After completing university ahead of schedule, he went to Ting City, and has since then been working as an extra at the film studio."

Just two hundred meters from the skyscraper, Xu Huo lit a cigarette for himself, looking at the towering building ahead and slowly took a puff.
High-level players were stronger than he had imagined. To pull off the plan of diverting their attention, two conditions needed to be met.
First, the time he spent in contact with the high-level players must be short; it was best to keep it under ten seconds while maintaining distance. Therefore, he would have to wait until the last minute before the departure time to act. Once inside the station, he could quickly board a train and leave.
Second, he needed a suitable location. To divert attention, there needed to be a witness, but the number of witnesses couldn’t be too large—the more players, the higher the risk of exposure.
With one hour and fifteen minutes left until the ticket time, ticket-holding players had to enter the station five minutes ahead, leaving one hour and ten minutes before the final deadline.
Sea City was not the right location. After all, he was not a true high-level player, and "Three Seconds of a Lifetime" was not an offensive item. Surrounded by so many players, he was greatly constrained on all sides, making it nearly impossible to escape without revealing any flaws.
But an hour and ten minutes was not enough time to find another suitable location to complete his plan.
If he used a military fighter jet, he could leave Sea City very quickly, but that would be too conspicuous. The Guile Sound Knights seemed hidden within the skyscraper, but Wang Chaoqing had only discovered one person inside. It was unclear how many other members there were or how many other players were nearby Sea City. Everyone entering and leaving Sea City must be within their field of vision; whether or not they were under surveillance was still unknown.
The government’s people couldn’t be trusted now either.
"Do you want to rescue them?" The Girl in the Painting’s phone appeared before him.
Xu Huo turned and looked at her, "With so many players here, aren’t you afraid of getting caught just hanging around?"
The Girl in the Painting shook her head, "They can’t catch me."
Xu Huo turned his gaze back toward the skyscraper.
"They are very powerful inside, you can’t beat her." The Girl in the Painting walked around to his front. "I don’t like it here, it’s all smelly. Let’s go play in the game instead?"
"That’s the smell of blood." Xu Huo paused, then suddenly said, "Didn’t you say you can only sense paper in one building?"
With a coy touch, the Girl in the Painting typed: "If it’s close enough, I can sense it in houses of the same person, too."
"The owner of this shop and all of the eighteenth floor in that building is the same person?" Xu Huo was slightly surprised and then asked, "Aside from buildings, can you do it with land?"
The Girl in the Painting shook her head again, "No, they’re not houses."
"So, it means you can only do it with houses," Xu Huo said, his eyes moving slightly. "If an entire street became owned by the same person, could you freely control all the paper inside it?"
The Girl in the Painting nodded.
"How about if all the houses were your own?"
The Girl in the Painting’s eyes widened, "Will they really gift the houses to me?"
"Is that possible?"
"Yes, my houses are better than other people’s."
"How large is the range?" Xu Huo asked again.
"I don’t have my own house yet," the Girl in the Painting said with a shy smile. "Someone used to gift me a house, but it wasn’t in my name."
"Then let’s try it." Xu Huo extinguished his cigarette, took out the Medal of the Radiant Gentleman and said, "Help me out, and I can give you this medal."
The Girl in the Painting’s eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously, much more enticed by the medal than by a house.
Xu Huo finally showed a smile, found a voice changer toy nearby, and called the official’s newly updated contact number using a scavenged phone.
The call quickly connected to the office, where the secretary pressed the speakerphone, "All the leaders from the command center are here; you can speak now."
"You say you have a solution for the crisis in Sea City, you better really have one. If you’re like those others making prank calls, you’re going to be in big trouble!"
The speaker was a military-clad old man from Jing City.
"I am the player who got the super prop," a delicate voice came through the phone.
