Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 136: Trap in the Game of Life and Death

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Trap in the Game of Life and Death

"What kind of trick did you fall for?" Xu Huo retorted, "Have I told a single lie?"

He had told Brother Feng that all the information about the three of them was traceable.

First, in the life-and-death game, not fearing death gives one a certain edge.

Second, the distinction between the black and white pointers was indeed a trap, as only the white pointer could possibly lead to a chance of survival.

Third, not spinning the pointer would allow one to leave the life-and-death game unscathed.

The last point he had proven successfully, which meant that the less one cared about life and death within the game, the less likely they were to be bewitched by the spinner.

He had once seen transparent chains in the spinner, and those who had entered the life-and-death game before seemed to become more frantic as the countdown neared its end. It was likely that the more one feared inside, the more intense the hallucinations became, enticing them to spin the pointer in a desperate attempt for a way out.

But if one saw through this, the illusions would naturally dissipate.

The black and white pointers were a double trap.

While the white pointer did indeed have the potential to bestow a chance of survival, it was not true that all white spaces represented such an opportunity. It was hard to say whether even one-third of the white spaces in the spinner offered a way out.

However, one didn’t need to judge the accuracy of the black and white pointers, or whether the white spaces truly offered a chance of survival. The real way to break the game wasn’t to obtain two chances of survival, but to refrain from spinning the pointer at all.

As long as one eliminated the fear, this wasn’t a difficult task to accomplish.

The elderly gentleman was an ordinary person too, and he had managed to do it, which coincided with the name of the prop, "Better to Die Seeking Life." It wasn’t really about encouraging people to spin the pointer with a fearless mindset, but maintaining such a mindset was key to escaping the control of the life-and-death game.

"How did you do it?" Brother Feng gritted his teeth, "You must know more, otherwise, you wouldn’t have simply landed on a white space so easily."

"Those last two rounds were clearly toying with me!"

In those last two rounds, Xu Huo merely made the motion of spinning the pointer but didn’t actually touch the spinner, and the white stripe on the back of his hand was nothing but a deception coordinated by Girl in the Painting.

"The fun is gone when everything is laid out." He looked at the person opposite him, formulating an attack plan in his mind.

"No, it’s not possible that you have grasped the method to the life-and-death game, otherwise, you would have won two survival opportunities and left already..." Brother Feng denied his own words, which also served as a probe, but Xu Huo’s expression remained unchanged, revealing no flaws.

"Could it be that you’re trying to save someone?"

"Brother, don’t waste words on him, attack!" Wang Chaoqing shouted from the side, cheering him on.

Brother Feng suddenly let out a cold laugh, and his figure vanished on the spot, appearing instantly in front of Wang Chaoqing!

Wang Chaoqing leaned back, but Duck Tongue Cap next to him took out a red ping-pong ball and smashed it to the ground!

However, what they hadn’t expected was that Brother Feng’s real target wasn’t Wang Chaoqing; it was merely a feint. Before the ping-pong ball even hit the ground, he had already retreated, perfectly dodging Xu Huo, who had turned to rescue someone!

Duck Tongue Cap’s attempt to rescue not only failed to help but also enveloped Xu Huo in the quickly rising red smoke.

Feeling a slight fluctuation in the smoke to his right, he immediately shielded himself with Bull Shield while slashing his Sword through it!

Metallic collision sounds came from within the smoke, and Xu Huo’s arm felt numb from the force rebounding off the sword blade. He took a step back and then directed the Flying Arrow to attack, easing the pressure.

Once the Flying Arrow locked onto its target, it could track and attack, even with the line of sight blocked, it was still able to precisely locate Brother Feng’s position.

Time after time, the Flying Arrow was deflected, and time after time, Xu Huo controlled it to return. Within a few short seconds, Brother Feng had retreated out of the smoke, and Xu Huo followed immediately!

The smoke did not spread out but only occupied a little over ten square meters. Therefore, the other side of the wheel was not disturbed. After the two of them exited, one after the other, Xu Huo first executed a sword strike from a distance, while Brother Feng raised a long metallic strip in his hand to block behind him!

The Sword Qi, upon touching the metallic strip, quickly narrowed down to an equal width and then, as if absorbed by the metal, completely vanished into it. The metal strip vibrated upon impact but did not break.

Seeing this, both the attacker and the defender showed varying degrees of surprise. Xu Huo rapidly refocused his scattered attention and swung the second sword. Brother Feng, however, had no intention of taking the hit head-on. He turned and lunged towards the nearby Girl in the Painting, grabbing her and placing the Short Sword, now coated with a mysterious black liquid, against her throat!

The Flying Arrow halted several meters away as Xu Huo stopped his movements and remained standing in place.

"What do you want?" Xu Huo asked.

"Simple, I want the method to solve the life and death situation," Brother Feng said.

"I’ve already told you the method. Do not touch the needle," Xu Huo replied. "That’s the only way out."

"Do you think I’m a fool?" Brother Feng pushed the Short Sword slightly closer to the Girl in the Painting’s skin. "What I want is a way to gain a chance of survival!"

"There is no way," Xu Huo looked at him. "You should understand from the high mortality rate of the life and death game that whether it’s the black or white needle, or landing on a black or white grid, the likelihood is there’s only one outcome: death. Maybe there are one or two white grids that offer a chance of survival, but do you really think those come up easily?"

"Before you came to this mall, had you used a prop only once? Did you get a second chance then?"

"That’s because I landed on a black grid!" the veins on Brother Feng’s forehead bulged. "Landing on a white grid is different!"

As if to refute his claim, the person standing inside the circle of the pointer in another wheel suddenly screamed, "I’ve landed on..."

Before the sentence was completed, the person exploded with a bang, once again shocking and inciting panic and cries from the crowd that had become somewhat numb under the brutal bloodiness.

Xu Huo glanced over in that direction. That kind of smile, he had seen it on the face of the female service staff who had died earlier.

"Could it be that there really is no way out of the life and death game?" Brother Feng’s attention faltered for a moment before refocusing on Xu Huo. He was about to say something when he suddenly felt a pain in his abdomen. Looking down, he saw a hand piercing through his stomach, and this hand belonged to the Girl in the Painting he was holding hostage!

The Girl in the Painting turned her head to blink at him with a confused and naive expression, her fingers beginning to stir inside his stomach!

"Damn it!" Brother Feng screamed, raising his sword to stab at her, but incredibly, she caught it with her hand. He tried to pull back forcefully, yet he could not break free from her grip!

By this time, Xu Huo had already closed in for the kill. Brother Feng gave both of them a resentful look and then disappeared from the platform.

"Looks like he hitched a ride out." Xu Huo stopped, turned to look at the Short Sword and a chunk of bean-shaped blood clut that the Girl in the Painting was holding, frowned, and said, "Why keep that filthy stuff? Throw it away."

The Girl in the Painting decisively threw everything she was holding onto the ground.

Strangely, the Short Sword turned into the shape of a metal block when it hit the ground.

"Hey, that’s a prop!" Wang Chaoqing ran over, picked it up, and eagerly handed it to Xu Huo.
