Chapter 1349: Chapter 1350

(Wait for modifications) The fleeing player was originally using props to move between floors, but unexpectedly stepped on 101. This type of metallic prop from the game he couldn’t break through. Then he saw Xu Huo beside him, holding a crossbow arrow aimed at him!

The arrow shot out wasn’t a solid arrow, but a kind of translucent ice, which quickly melted after piercing the wall!

"I’m not looking for you," Xu Huo clarified his stance. Due to this momentary delay, the chasing player had already come down from the upstairs, but hadn’t even revealed more than a pair of feet before being struck by a strong force, directly carving a deep trench in the ceiling, stopping only at the wall.

The next second, two people and a Stone Lion landed on the same floor where Xu Huo and his companion were located.

"Go, Da Mao!" Yan Jiayu commanded the Stone Lion to pounce on the people, while pasting a muscle doll sticker on her face, instantly boosting her speed to an overwhelming rate, like an unstoppable cannonball crashing toward the person by the wall!

That player clearly didn’t regard her reckless combat method with much seriousness, patting his shoulder to immediately unfold a blue light arc in front of him. With this light arc shielding him, he didn’t spare Yan Jiayu another glance and instead shifted his attention to the Stone Lion that was running in circles nearby.

However, just as he was about to free his hands to deal with the Stone Lion, Yan Jiayu, the living bomb, smashed into him—unsure if there were other invisible defensive props on her body, but she crashed into the light arc at such force that she sent this player flying through the wall, while the light arc also erupted with cracks!

"What!" The opponent couldn’t hide his astonishment, then was propelled to the furthest outer wall of the building by the impact, only to be bounced back by a barrier affixed to the wall.

On the other hand, as the side taking the force, Yan Jiayu wasn’t as disheveled as he was, landing firmly in the middle of the room, swinging the Demon-Subduing Pestle in a chaotic flurry!

With a few "bang bang bang" sounds, a Shield Prop cracked, and the player quickly evaded, temporarily restricting Yan Jiayu’s speed utilizing his characteristic, before heading towards Xu Huo’s direction!

His true target was the government player who hadn’t managed to escape yet, but barely halfway there, a cold light swept from the side!

"But it’s somewhat different from the Super Evolvers I’ve encountered before. Others typically control objects via spatial rays or use them as sharp tools. You, however, can make air explode, certainly using some auxiliary prop for that."

"Not even wearing gloves."

Bai Jing, with a steady expression, said, "It seems you’re also a Super Evolver. I noticed it while you were moving just earlier. You’re not fully using spatial rays to shorten distances; you vanish in plain sight right in front of people, imperceptible even when very near. You probably didn’t use a prop for this."

"A dual-type Super Evolver, and a Rank-C Player, you’re the first I’ve ever known."

Xu Huo nodded slightly, pointing to the person on the ground, "Let’s cut the chit chat, this person is dying soon."

Seeing their companion suffering, the others present didn’t look pleased. Two of them quickly moved to the back, attacking from the left and right; however, Xu Huo didn’t move from where he stood, having already set up "Everything Wants to Slice" nearby, directly cutting the props the two had released.

Opening a door in the ground to send the two away, Xu Huo looked once more at the suffering player, nearly unable to breathe on the ground, and said plainly, "Truly pitiful."

The Black Blade was held against his throat, "I’ll make it quick for you!"

"Wait!" Bai Jing shouted, "If you let him go, I can assure my people will no longer interfere with your course clearance!"

The blade remained on the notebook player’s throat without moving, yet the player’s painful convulsions inadvertently touched the Black Blade, and blood flowed from his neck within moments.

"This sounds quite familiar," Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, "Before entering Twin Cities, a Ya Clan person told me the same, assuring me their kin wouldn’t ambush me again. What, you Ya Clan people don’t communicate amongst yourselves?"

Bai Jing furrowed his brow but didn’t continue on that topic, instead asking, "Are the players we killed your friends?"

Xu Huo shook his head.

"If not, then we can go our separate ways without interfering," Bai Jing said.

"The Dr. Duor I was escorting disappeared," Xu Huo stated, "The unlucky few who just died probably weren’t the ones tracking me, nor did they attract the Aliens. Without Dr. Duor, how do I clear the course?"

Bai Jing’s expression slightly darkened. He knew that Xu Huo daring to come actively kill was surely not to probe lightly and leave; this matter wouldn’t end well.

"There must be something you seek when taking hostages; you can propose it." He quickly said.

Xu Huo nodded approvingly, "How many Dr. Duor have you killed in the past ten days?"

"Fifteen," Bai Jing answered, "But I’m not sure if any of the fifteen who died were the real Dr. Duor."

"Do you have photos?" Xu Huo wanted to know what face the other Dr. Duors appeared with.

Bai Jing glanced at the notebook player, "Can you detoxify him first?"

Xu Huo straightforwardly administered a shot to him. When the notebook player seemed to regain some color, Bai Jing produced six photos, "One-third of them match the appearance in the first photo."

The photo he referred to was the likeness of the Dr. Duor Xu Huo had received.

"Why kill Dr. Duor? The genetic disease in Twin Cities shouldn’t concern you," Xu Huo asked, "Or is it due to hatred with the Zone 023 people that you don’t want the Twin Cities’ people rescued?"

"Those people aren’t the real Zone 023 people at all!" another Ya Clan person spoke with resentment, "Only our Ya Clan are the true residents of Zone 023!"

"Alright, let’s say what you claim is true." Xu Huo bypassed the emotional venting aspect of grudges, "But I encountered Ya Clan people on the way and saw their caliber, not people so indiscriminative."

"If you knew what those people did to Zone 023, you wouldn’t say that," Bai Jing’s eyes shined with hatred, "They all deserve death; the sins carry on through their blood... However, we aren’t intercepting Dr. Duor for revenge."

He quickly calmed himself, looking directly at Xu Huo, "I’ve heard you Super-Evolvers of the Psyche are adept at reading emotions, able to determine from minor details if someone is lying."

"I’ll be candid, Dr. Duor isn’t a doctor researching genetic disease at all, but the leader in live human experiments!"

"He does study genetics, but not to rescue ordinary Twin Cities citizens, but to create more powerful, game-adapted Evolvers!"

Xu Huo’s eyes narrowed, "The genes of the Ya Clan are suitable for evolutionary modification?"

"Indeed!" Bai Jing’s chest heaved uncontrollably.

This shouldn’t be.

After making this deduction, Xu Huo quickly reached a conclusion.

Whether Dr. Duor or the people of Twin Cities are genuinely from Zone 023, currently, the point both they and the Ya Clan acknowledge is about the evolutionary disaster over twenty years ago. The Ya Clan were numbered back then, assuming they were used as experimental subjects; over twenty years now, no remarkable players have emerged from the Ya Clan or Zone 023, proving they lack the so-called "excellent genes."
