Chapter 1320: Chapter 1321: This time the Alien’s active duration is 30 seconds
After the robed man left, the carriage quieted down again. Especially once the two doors in front were closed, many people visibly breathed a sigh of relief. Although most of the people on the train were players of the same level, it’s not impossible to run into one or two advanced players, and if you do, it’s beyond just bad luck, since the train is not like an instance.
"That must’ve been a Rank-B player," someone said. "In just a short time, everyone in the same carriage is dead."
The purple-eyed woman’s group, who escaped, of course didn’t count.
"Rank-B players should just do Rank-B copies. What are they doing in a Rank-C train..."
Despite the grumbling, no one dared to make a move again. While players of the same level might be evenly matched, provoking someone clearly much stronger would just be asking for death, right?
The journey ahead was shrouded in moonlight. When the lights came on the next day, the sky switched back to day, but the scenery outside the train was no longer as magnificent as before. Instead, it turned into a barren zone, where the moisture-soaked ground had rotted any growing vegetation. Occasionally, half-buried bones of unknown animals surfaced from the mottled soil, and strange footprints or handprints could be seen in some places.
"Are there alien activities here?" Many players inside the train were puzzled. "I’ve never heard of different species groups appearing near the tracks during the day."
"As long as it’s a place where aliens survive, there should be aliens regardless of day or night, right?" another person answered. "But trains mostly pass through these areas at night. No one ever said there wouldn’t be aliens during the day."
Moreover, unless the species is particularly rare, most aliens aren’t afraid of light under usual circumstances.
"Trains used to pass through these places at night. Why is it daytime now?" someone worriedly asked. "Are Rank-C trains no longer safe?"
This added some psychological pressure to those on board. Even veteran players who frequently did Rank-C copies wouldn’t dare say there was absolutely no danger during the day, and the train guide didn’t assure passenger safety at all times.
"Ding dong!"
The train’s announcement suddenly came on:
"Welcome everyone aboard the C2579 train. The train is currently traveling through the Mire Space. In an estimated one and a half minutes, it will encounter a different species group. This time, the activity duration is calculated to be thirty seconds. From now on, the train will speed up. Passengers, please be aware and protect yourselves."
"Hey hey hey, what’s this? Are different species groups approaching?" The players were agitated. During instances, they’ve had some engagement with different species groups, which are especially agitated when visible!
"Where? I can’t see anything!" someone immediately used a prop to observe into the distance.
"You idiot," the person next to them scolded, "The train is speeding up, and it takes a minute and a half to reach the different species group. Where are you looking now?"
"Does it mean a large number of different species groups are sprinting towards us right now? What does ’activity duration’ mean? Does it mean the train will collide head-on with the different species group?" Some players seemed to have a psychological shadow about the different species group, especially frantic. "Why not take a detour or speed up earlier? If the different species group derails the train, everyone will die!"
Every carriage was filled with cursing, but soon, a large mass of black shadow appeared in front—the different species group wasn’t like the ones players had occasionally encountered in instances that surrounded a building once or twice, nor like the ones that stuck to the train for a while at night before leaving. Instead, it was like a dense black tide rushing from the horizon with terrifying speed, carrying the oppressive force of a living, disaster-like killing machine!
Even Xu Huo was startled for a moment.
He had seen a lot of aliens during the high-risk instance, but they were nothing compared to this. Looking out from the train, it seemed as though the area outside the tracks was covered in aliens, and these humanoid aliens with super speed and strength were far more terrifying than any mutated animals.
"It should be fine. If the train wasn’t sturdy enough, how could it travel through different dimensions?" someone reassured themselves, but as they got closer and closer to the different species group, they couldn’t help but retreat to the middle of the carriage.
Soon, the first aliens to reach the tracks began to leap towards the train, but the train’s speed was too fast. Most of the aliens pounced on and were crushed like mosquitoes against the car walls. However, as more and more aliens jumped onto the train, it was soon covered in blood and flesh. During this time, quite a few aliens managed to successfully latch onto the train. They weren’t completely without intelligence; they knew to hide at the tail of the train to avoid the strong wind caused by high speed, and they used their kind as windshields to buy themselves a moment.
"Crack!" A subtle cracking sound came from somewhere, but with the dense slapping noise, players couldn’t pinpoint exactly where it originated. Through the blood-smeared car walls, distorted and grotesque faces pressed against them, letting out greedy roars at the people inside.
Thirty short seconds were enough to drag a person back and forth through hell a few times.
Thirty seconds later, the different species group outside the tracks was gone. Although they were still chasing after the train, they were soon left behind, turning into a small black dot on the horizon and eventually disappearing.
Only then did the players on the train breathe a sigh of relief.
"Can’t an advanced player even find peace on a train ride?" the severely injured woman being supported by the sturdy black man sighed.
"There’s no safe place in the game," the sturdy black man said. "The train is even more dangerous than an instance."
With no tickets to escape, at least instances have clearance requirements as constraints, while many on the train thought to seize an opportunity before entering the instance. Gaining one or two good props would also increase the chance of clearing the instance.
However, after just experiencing an alien attack, the players temporarily calmed down.
Shortly, Xu Huo reached his stop.
Unlike before when he smoothly disembarked, this time he was thrown out. The dark sky flashed by in his vision, and the next second, he was falling rapidly!
In mid-air, he adjusted his posture, and a bubble ball shaped like a cloud enveloped his body. This was the Rank A Prop "Ball of Whim," which could resist gravity or water pressure. So when the ball expanded, it countered the feeling of falling.
The ball descended like a cloud, though not at a slow speed. But as it approached the ground, a slender black shadow suddenly shot out from the distant Gaomu Forest, sweeping over the cloud with incredible speed. Then the ball was quickly pulled off its original trajectory and swung through the air towards the Gaomu Forest again.
An abrupt force of gravity hit the ball, not only pressing the entire cloud downward but also causing the mutated avian beast clinging to it to sink heavily...
