Chapter 1095: Chapter 1095: Those Who See it, Get a Share

Xu Huo read the lip movements and raised an eyebrow: "They’re going to gather a kind of hallucinogenic mushroom."

"For whom to eat?" Zhou Yuanzhu reacted quickly, "We won’t eat their stuff, even the water for cooking today was brought by ourselves."

"That I don’t know," Xu Huo paused before adding, "I’m very interested in fungi, I want to go take a look."

Zhou Yuanzhu had no objections, "I have trouble moving, so I’ll go back to wait near the rendezvous point. Be careful."

The two parted ways, Xu Huo put away the Detector, glanced at the hole in the ground, and simply jumped in.

The passage below was not as spacious as the hole above, but it could still accommodate two or three people crawling through.

Entering a tunnel with no convenient way to turn back in a place teeming with Aliens was not a wise move, but once the Detector had tunnelled underground, he could directly see further from below.

Having assessed the nearby situation, he then crouched and entered, using the "Near-Ground Hover" capable of flight to reach the nearest exit – the Detector had made more than one tunnel underground.

He touched the minerals in the cave with his Prop Gloves and effortlessly broke off a piece. Xu Huo looked around; the minerals visible in this cave, seemingly abandoned by the Aliens, were like the piece in his hand—somewhat transparent, yet shriveled and brittle.

After testing with the Detector, he found that these minerals were radioactive.

In the game, the variety of radioactive substances far exceeded the known amount in Zone 014, yet the vast majority still harm the human body, Evolvers included. It’s not surprising that this place, with such abundant mineral resources and radioactivity, was abandoned.

Radioactive elements are used in all aspects of human society, but not every zone can exploit these materials, and zones with more advanced technology might have better alternatives. It’s within reason that some resources, awkwardly positioned with high extraction costs and low utilization efficiency, are left untouched.

Clearly, this high-risk instance was an abandoned area.

Looking at the diverse variety of Aliens here, it’s unclear whether they’re related to these radioactive minerals.

After concealing his form and shadow, Xu Huo followed the tunnel and found some scattered fungi.

Previously in Clown City, he had obtained a book about fungi and had perused it during his spare time. Two of the species listed matched the fungi in the cave; both were highly toxic, but influenced by radioactive elements, their appearances had changed, including some non-toxic fungi.

The fungi mutated by radioactive elements were no longer edible, considering the inconvenience of preservation, he decided against gathering them.

Avoiding the Aliens dwelling in the cave, he located the spot where Zheng Da and Jiang Wenzhang had stayed, and found a large patch of non-toxic mushrooms harvested not far from there.

Picking up a mushroom to examine, the emerald-green cap was beautiful and translucent. It had also once appeared on Waga of Xiaohe City’s dining table; this must be the hallucinogenic mushrooms they mentioned, as he clearly had seen the majority of Players eating a stew made with this type of mushroom in the restaurant.

Mutated hallucinogenic mushrooms with radioactivity—it seems Players from Xiaohe City have been consuming this regularly. Could they have evolved resistance?

Players from Xiaohe City didn’t show excessive gluttony; was it because they ate the food from this instance, or was it because the filtered water was pure enough to remove impurities, making the consumption of fruits and vegetables not much of a problem?

However, regardless of the reason, Zheng and Jiang Wenzhang mentioned the word "hallucinogenic," indicating their purpose for collecting these mushrooms was not pure.

Xu Huo casually filled his pockets with some mushrooms, slung them on his back, and continued forward.

"Woo!" Not far away, an Alien was fighting, emitting intimidating noises from time to time, unsettling the nearby Aliens, which responded with sounds of varying tones.

Shortly thereafter, a small group of Aliens charged over, and Xu Huo leapt into the air, dodging into a corner.

Fortunately, some underground caves were spacious enough; otherwise, with passages filled with Aliens, there would be no room to hide.

Once the small group of Aliens had moved on, he landed back on the ground, but he stopped after just one step, turning his head to the left.

Not all mutated animals were large; there were also creatures like geckos, lizards, and bats that infiltrated every cave and passageway, but unlike the larger Aliens, these were quieter, often not moving for long periods. However, the moment his foot touched the ground, a few geckos opened their eyes.

He made no sound, only leaving behind a footprint on the ground.

Three geckos slid down the wall and darted toward his feet. Xu Huo didn’t move, letting the geckos circle around his feet—earlier, he had used a Potion to mask his scent.

After a while, the geckos crawled over his feet and scurried down the passageway, emitting fine cries as they went.

Their cries attracted several nearby Aliens which rushed past Xu Huo and into a fork in the path on the right ahead.

Xu Huo followed them, and before long he saw several Aliens surrounding Zheng Da and Jiang Wenzhang.

Both of them had used Invisibility Props and Defense Props, but they were trapped within the Defensive Barrier, with Aliens clawing at them from all sides, unable to escape for the moment.

However, the real reason they couldn’t come out wasn’t the Aliens outside, but rather they were both covering a large object with an Invisibility Cloak.

Xu Huo couldn’t see the object, but he could sense it was an oval shape, about two meters long, and both men seemed to struggle to hold it together.

Stowing such an item in the cargo hold would be no problem, but neither of them would let go... Xu Huo used "Everything Wants to Slice" to cut through the men’s Defensive Barrier.

Sensing danger, Zheng Da and Jiang Wenzhang handled the incoming Aliens in turn, but this caused the object they held to become unruly, slipping from their grasp as they struggled, and the object wrapped in the Invisibility Prop rolled out.

It was a very large Stone.

Unlike the minerals he had seen before, this Stone was pitch-black like ink, faintly gleaming, appearing somewhat like a gemstone.

It wasn’t peculiar for the occasional high-quality gemstone to appear in the mine caves, but the fact that Zheng Da and Jiang Wenzhang were at a standoff over it suggested this was a valuable find.

Xu Huo hooked the Balloon String onto it and dragged the Stone towards himself.

Zheng and Jiang had long known there was a third person there, but their standoff was simply due to the inability to break through each other’s Props. So when the Balloon String lifted the Stone, two unseen forces appeared on it, but owing to the strong pull from Xu Huo’s end, both men were dragged forward two steps.

"Lock it away!" Jiang Wenzhang first enclosed the Stone within a four-sided barrier; the slightly slower Xu Huo and Zheng Da failed to break through and retreated in a split second, moving back to a safe spot.

"Who are you?" Zheng Da glared at Xu Huo and demanded angrily.
