The incessant movement of her pen on paper poked and prodded at Miss Ma’s nerves. After several futile attempts to use the Prop, she began to curse loudly again.

However, the man opposite her showed no reaction, observing her with a pair of indifferent eyes behind his glasses while taking notes. His expression didn’t vary much, but judging by the speed of his writing, he was not as relaxed as before.

"It seems that your condition hasn’t improved." After Miss Ma finished cursing, he closed his notebook and said, shaking his head, "You can’t leave this room for now."

Miss Ma wore a puzzled look; from the beginning, she had no idea what this man was doing. It seemed like he wanted to inquire something from her, but he didn’t ask anything significant. Instead, he was mumbling and jotting down notes.

Xu Huo picked up his notebook, ready to leave.

Miss Ma found she could move again, but there was now an iron chain on her hands and feet, restricting her to a small area. The room was no longer the pure white from before but had returned to its original appearance.

Although still bound hand and foot, Miss Ma’s expression eased slightly. Carrying the chain gently, she tiptoed to the door, prepared to call out for help, when she heard Xu Huo outside speaking with Zheng Da, "Her condition is worse than when we last assessed her. She might have a tendency for violence. Don’t open the door for her, and be careful when delivering food."

Zheng Da, also clad in a white coat, nodded. His face lacked the fake smile of bygone days, replaced now with a serious and professional demeanor.

Miss Ma twisted the doorknob forcefully, shouting, "Zheng Da, what are you doing! Come and help me!"

As soon as Xu Huo left, Zheng Da’s expression outside the door became ferocious, "Behave yourself, or you won’t get to eat!"

"You’re the crazy one!" Miss Ma, infuriated, kicked the door, but Zheng Da didn’t even glance at her and turned to walk away.

"Come back!" Miss Ma banged desperately on the door but received no response. Suddenly, a bright light reflected on her face. Instinctively shielding herself, she looked up to see Zeng Shangping in the room opposite, shining a mirror onto her face.

"Zeng Shangping, you’re so..." Her words cut off midway, and Miss Ma’s eyes widened, "Why are you also wearing a hospital gown? Why is there sunlight outside? And the sound of birds?"

"Patient number 23, Ma Chunchun, time for medication." The nurse with bright red lips approached, placing the prepared medicine on the window ledge, "Eat it nicely now, don’t spit it out, or we’ll have to tie you up."

Miss Ma fell into a stupor but didn’t completely lose consciousness. Vaguely, she felt herself tied to the bed, while Zheng Da and Qian Zi discussed giving her medication, mentioning another patient who had mysteriously vanished within the hospital.

"...Must have run off, who wants to stay in this godforsaken place?" said Qian Zi.

"Shh... I’ve heard from Doctor Xu that you can often smell cooking meat near the Director’s office..." said Zheng Da: "You know we’re always lacking in supplies here, we don’t have such good food, who knows what it might be!"
