Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 108: The Surge of the Alien Tide

Chapter 108: Chapter 108: The Surge of the Alien Tide

The group standing in front of the door were clearly elated, and as soon as the gate rose high enough for a person to pass, Ke Liang turned on the flashlight and crawled through. Then he stuck out his head, "There’s a path inside."

Xu Huo and the others followed inside, where a road as wide as the door awaited them, closed off on both sides with iron fences. In the distance, they could vaguely make out a sky-colored exit, though it was still far off.

Xu Huo propped up the flashlight to look behind the door and discovered that there was a pulley on each side of the lifting gate. When the chain was pulled, the door naturally rose.

Right next to the door was a steel suspension bridge, parallel to the path on the ground and sandwiched between the fences on either side.

"What’s this on the side?" Shen Xin walked over and strained her eyes. The light revealed an uninhabited thicket, with overgrowth on both sides.

"Why fence it off?" Shen Yi wondered aloud, "I thought the town was right outside the door. There’s such a wide passage here; we entered, but the game didn’t notify us of passing through. Do we have to walk out to count?"

"The door’s open anyway, let’s just go out and have a look," Gu Yu said nonchalantly, pausing before adding, "I’m actually more curious about what Lin Pei is thinking right now?"

Shen Xin exchanged a glance with her and burst into laughter, "If he knew we left, he’d be green with regret."

"Shh." Xu Huo cut them off, strode over to a corner of the fence, and started to move the flora poking through the gaps. Then he paused abruptly.

"What did you find?" Gu Yu leaned in, just in time to see the torn gap behind the brushed aside undergrowth. The edges of the wire had been forcefully ripped through, not appearing man-made but more like the work of a ferocious animal.

Exchanging quick glances, Gu Yu immediately lowered her voice, "Go! Hurry up! There might be Aliens inside the gate, don’t draw them over!"

Shen Xin and the others suddenly tensed up, halting their chatter and quickening their pace towards the front gate.

However, at that moment, a faint whizzing sound came from behind followed by the clink of a Flying Arrow striking the suspension bridge overhead, its tail trailing a long rope that dragged a person up with a thud onto the bridge!

The sound of the heavy object hitting the fragile metal plate reverberated farther in the tight, enclosed space than one would expect, like ripples from a tossed stone spreading out layer by layer. But the sounds echoing back were accompanied by a slight rustling!

Without looking back at the person on the bridge, Xu Huo ran forward, shouting, "Run!"

The people on the ground took off at a sprint, glancing to the sides as they ran. The once empty thicket suddenly became alive with pairs of glistening eyes, densely packed everywhere!

"What is that!" Shen Xin, on Shen Yi’s back, reflexively shone her flashlight towards them. But in just an instant, the light seemed to trigger an Alien, which abruptly pounced out from the bushes and slammed into the fence!

The tightly woven iron fence deformed upon impact. The Alien’s eyes bulged, and its teeth furiously gnawed at the wire, with its tongue, full of sharp teeth, wriggling out and stretching forward, flinging foul-smelling saliva everywhere!

Despite being several meters away, Shen Xin screamed in fright. She thought sightless Aliens looked horrifying enough, but those with eyes were even more terrifying!

"Don’t look at them!" Shen Yi commanded in a deep voice. "Look ahead!"

Shen Xin mustered her courage to look forward, but by then, more and more Aliens had gathered. They piled on top of each other, quickly covering the fences on both sides. They roared and howled, constantly shaking and tearing at it—all of their eyes fixated on the group of people in the middle of the road!

"The iron fence won’t hold much longer, go faster!" Xu Huo, who was well ahead of them, looked back and shouted.

The group, including Gu Yu, was desperately running behind, but as more and more Aliens appeared, the iron fence was on the verge of collapsing, and the exit in front seemed impossibly out of reach!

"Rip!" A gap appeared in the iron fence ahead!

Xu Huo suddenly stopped, witnessing the gap grow larger under the tearing of three or four Aliens. He stepped back and turned around, "Back, go back!"

Almost the moment he shouted, the section of the fence just a few meters away from them was completely torn open. A pile of Aliens spilled out and, before they even got up, they scrambled towards the players!

"Ahhhh!" Wang Chaoqing screamed, "We’re dead, we’re dead, we’re definitely dead!"

"Retreat, get back first!" Gu Yu shouted loudly; however, Shen Xin’s trembling voice came from ahead, "They’re coming out over here too!"

The crowd looked up to see the hole that Xu Huo had noticed earlier. Three Aliens were stuck in it, desperately struggling to break free, threatening to swarm out before they could safely reach the doorway!

"Up there!" Xu Huo, holding "Omnipresent Strings," took off from the ground and snatched the nearby Gu Yu.

In the moment they were airborne, Wang Chaoqing lunged over and clung to their legs, "Bro, take me with you!"

The strings could only bear so much weight, so Xu Huo kicked him towards Ke Liang!

Ke Liang’s specialty was leaping. Jumping seven or eight meters to a suspension bridge was no problem for him. He had planned to carry the injured Shen Xin, but in the urgency of the moment and with Wang Chaoqing crashing into him, he had no choice but to hold on to him instead.

As the two of them jumped onto the suspension bridge, Xu Huo and Gu Yu also landed steadily on it. Then Xu Huo controlled the strings to fly towards Shen Yi and his sister, "Grab on, I’ll pull you up!"

Just as Shen Yi and his sister left the ground, two Aliens pounced and bit into Shen Yi’s legs on either side, dragging the two of them downwards!

"Pull them up fast!" Gu Yu couldn’t help but yell.

"The strings can only bear two people at a time!" Feeling the strings were close to losing control, Xu Huo lay on the suspension bridge and threw down a belt.

Shen Xin clamped Shen Yi’s waist with her legs and desperately grabbed the belt, looking up at the people on the bridge, "Save us!"

"Quick, help!" Gu Yu, lying next to Xu Huo grabbing the belt, realized their combined strength wasn’t enough to pull the two up and couldn’t restrain herself from yelling at Ke Liang and Wang Chaoqing.

The two rushed over, some holding the waist and others grabbing hands, pulling with all their strength.

Below, Shen Yi was also kicking away the Aliens latching onto him, but for every one he kicked off, another would replace it. Even beneath the Aliens, more would hang on, stacking on top of each other like a row of arhats on the iron fence, and suddenly it was a tug of war between above and below!

Lin Pei, who deliberately made a "grand entrance," had wanted to escape back to the town when the Aliens first burst through the enclosure. However, from his high vantage point, he could see clearer than those in dire straits like Xu Huo. The Aliens inside the wall were different from any they had seen before; they lacked strong leaping ability and couldn’t reach the suspension bridge, so staying atop was safe.

He coolly observed the life-and-death situation unfolding before him and spoke, "Why not just give up on Shen Yi? He’s been bitten by the Alien, there’s no way he can survive."
