Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 1057: Proposing a Deal

Chapter 1057: Chapter 1057: Proposing a Deal

Nobody in the storage room was speaking, other than the uneven breaths of three critically injured people at the back, the only sound was Guan Shu smiling continuously as he watched Xu Huo.

"There must be more options than just joining, right?" Xu Huo finally said with a smile after a moment.

"You jest," Guan Shu was not visibly disappointed, "there’s no need to be ruthless just because our paths differ."

Although he said that, he followed up with: "You seem to have gotten quite close to the people from the Dong Family?"

"Not really, it was just a chance encounter after arriving in District 002," Xu Huo replied.

Guan Shu nodded, "None of the big families in District 002 are clean. If you’re just staying here for a short while, there’s no problem. If not, there’s a nine out of ten chance we’ll be at odds."

Xu Huo did not make any promises, merely nodding to show he understood.

Guan Shu did not press him to join the Holy Sword Society and allowed them to continue hiding out there, adding, "You could also wait until the people sent out by the government hall have been recalled before leaving."

People of strong will often do not waver due to a few words from others, and the wise know when to stop pressing.

He appeared sincere, and Xu Huo also stayed and rested quite frankly.

Chi Minghong beside him did not say much, whereas the woman from District 002 couldn’t help but ask Ruan Qiyuan about joining the Holy Sword Society.

Although the group appeared to have a method to their actions, it didn’t mean they were always charitable. It wasn’t just a matter of whether ordinary people were easy to take along; if people like her were too numerous and they took in everyone they met, the Holy Sword Society wouldn’t have the space to accommodate them all.

The usually reticent Ruan Qiyuan spoke up, "Better find a safe place and live a good life."

It was evident that the woman felt some distress upon hearing this, but she simply gazed at him sorrowfully, then silently returned to Chi Minghong’s side, smiling at her ingratiatingly.

Such was the sorrow of ordinary people under the game’s rule.

Chi Minghong did not mind, for following the people from the Holy Sword Society might mean escaping the order of District 002, even leaving the district, while she had only promised to take her to another city.

The poisoned player deep in the storage room was on the verge of death; he convulsed twice, drank two potions in an attempt to sit up, and took out all his props, saying to his companions, "I’m finally saying goodbye to this damn game, brothers, it’s all on you from here on out..."

The others, including Guan Shu, gathered around him, watching him in silence and sorrow.

A few seconds later, the player’s pupils dilated, his breath ceased.

Guan Shu covered his face with a white cloth, then bowed his head in respect.

"Cough cough!" Just after one companion was sent off, another seriously wounded man suddenly turned his head and spat out a mouthful of black blood; his previously fine-looking face was quickly covered with dark purple veins.

Ruan Qiyuan hastily poured antitoxin into his mouth, but You Xuewen held his shoulder, "Let it be. If it worked, Xiao Zhao wouldn’t be dead."

Ruan Qiyuan watched his companion vomiting up blood and potion together, angrily smashing the antitoxin in his hand, "Useless thing, and we spent so much effort and money to get it!"

No one else spoke; this was, in fact, a very common occurrence. Antitoxins sold in the game might not work on every type of poison, especially the higher-grade toxins. Often from Rank-B poisons and above, players needed to arm themselves with dozens of different antitoxins of the same rank, fearing a situation like this one.

But the tragedy was that aside from the antitoxins they carried and those specially purchased from potion experts in the past, none could treat this kind of poison, and they didn’t even know what poison it was. They could only infer from the severity of the toxicity that it was likely above Rank-B, and Rank-A antitoxins were very scarce on the bounty platforms, unlike props that can be replaced – players can never have too many antitoxins.

Chi Minghong glanced in that direction as if she couldn’t bear it and asked Xu Huo, "Will the potion you gave me be effective?"

"Not sure," Xu Huo replied conservatively.

"Then let’s give it a try!" Chi Minghong clapped her thigh, took out the potion, and quickly stepped forward, "Excuse me, excuse me, we might still be able to save him!"

Ruan Qiyuan instinctively tried to stop her, but Guan Shu held him back, signaling for him to step aside.

"Just to clarify, don’t blame me if he can’t be saved," Chi Minghong waited for Guan Shu to nod before helping the injured man drink the potion. At first, he vomited a bit, but after swallowing some, his condition noticeably improved; not only did he stop vomiting blood, but his complexion also softened.

"It actually works!" Probably others didn’t expect Chi Minghong to have a better potion than they did, and she herself was surprised, shrugging her shoulders, "The potion was given by Old Xu, I only have one bottle."

Guan Shu and the others turned their gaze to Xu Huo, with You Xuewen speaking first, "We can pay a high price for your potion."

The potion Xu Huo made was concocted from the juice of the King Fungus he cultivated. The process was simple, but it had a short shelf life, and since the quantity of King Fungus was limited, there wasn’t much of the ready-made potion.

"I don’t have any more," he said, pausing before adding, "The friend could be saved because his condition wasn’t too severe."

"We mean no harm," Guan Shu said, "or you can tell us the name of the potion, and we will search for it ourselves."

Xu Huo slightly shook his head, "That will be difficult. It was a gift from a potion expert. As for the formula and whether it’s sold in the game, I’m not quite sure."

After such a clear refusal, it was not easy for Guan Shu and the others to insist on asking for it, so they soon turned their attention back to the injured companion.

Upon receiving a token of thanks, Chi Minghong walked back, smacking her lips, "Had I known the potion was this effective, I would have kept it for life-saving."

Xu Huo smiled, "That kind of potion doesn’t last long; it wouldn’t be effective if kept for too long."

Chi Minghong chuckled, "That makes me feel a bit better."

Only after confirming that the companion was completely detoxified did Guan Shu turn around and indicate he wanted to speak to Xu Huo alone.

The two of them went outside, and Guan Shu used a Muffler Artefact before speaking, "You can name your conditions."

Xu Huo did not rush to strike a deal but asked instead, "There are so many antitoxins in the game, it might have just been luck that mine worked. Buying more might not be useful to you."

Guan Shu, however, disagreed, "The Holy Sword Society still needs to survive in District 002, and encountering this kind of situation again is bound to happen."

The poison originated from the government hall; it should be a product of some laboratory. After being refined, antitoxins sold in the game suddenly became ineffective.

"I meant what I said earlier, I really don’t have much potion, and its effectiveness doesn’t last long," Xu Huo said, "Think it through before you decide whether you want to make this trade."

"Do you want Dr. Wu’s information or the S-Version Drug?" Guan Shu asked directly.
