Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 104: The Righteous Do Not Kill

Chapter 104: Chapter 104: The Righteous Do Not Kill

"Now that Wu Qiuyi has died unexpectedly, and I’ve been injured, Ke Liang never left your sight. He’s trying to pin the blame on some nonexistent outsider, which is nothing but a scheme to hide in the shadows and wait for an opportunity to strike!"

Ke Liang and his group, including Wang Chaoqing who knelt beside Xu Huo, showed subtle changes in their expressions.

"By your logic, it would be perfectly fine to pin it on Wang Chaoqing, wouldn’t it?" Xu Huo said after listening, "After all, dead men tell no tales."

"Do you think everyone else is an idiot? Wang Chaoqing isn’t that kind of person."

"Hmm, what you said does make some sense." Xu Huo glanced over the crowd, "But currently, only my Sword can possibly cut through the gate. Do you have any other methods?"

"It’s just an artifact, we can still use it after killing you." Lin Pei’s gaze was cold.

Ke Liang retreated behind Xu Huo.

"Hey guys, why turn to violence when we’re just talking?" Shen Yi raised his voice.

Unfortunately, no one paid him any mind.

Xu Huo looked at Lin Pei in bewilderment, "In case my Sword also can’t break through the door, how do you plan on getting out?"

"Of course we would look for the switch." Lin Pei sneered, "You don’t think you’re the only capable one, do you?"

"Then what were you doing in the week before I arrived?" Xu Huo stared intently, and seeing his unchanged expression, suddenly realized, "So you think that by killing me, you’ll definitely be able to get out."

"Under normal circumstances, when there’s suspicion of others, teammates shouldn’t easily turn on each other. Without a shred of solid evidence, merely based on speculation and assumptions, you’ve determined that I’m lying and that there are no other people in the town, demanding my death. You must believe that the item I got from Master Niese’s residence is the key to leaving the town."

"You also ambushed me earlier for the artifact."

"You were the one who decided the scope of our search. Maybe you’d discovered something or an important item at Master Niese’s residence but couldn’t find it, so you took a risk in drawing me in to search, and then tried to assassinate me when I was about to leave, in order to confirm whether I had it."

"However, unfortunately for you, the artifact I found has no relation to leaving the town."

"Of course, I don’t discount the possibility that you just simply wanted the artifact."

He was quite disappointed, as he had thought Lin Pei had some other motives, perhaps related to the method of perfect evolution, but sadly he was just after an artifact. Maybe he knew a bit about the clues related to the instance, but definitely not much.

Xu Huo paused, then scanned Gu Yu and the others, "You guys, you don’t trust the person who has fought alongside you, but you completely trust someone who disappeared halfway and came back with a self-harm ruse. This is a game world, injuries can be healed, and the dead can be revived. Can’t you put your brains to use?"

"Forget it, it’s useless to say more. Anyway, all of you are injured, and the Aliens have been mostly dealt with. There’s no need for you to exert yourselves, so it won’t matter even if you’re killed."

Gu Yu and the others hadn’t yet fully grasped the slew of hidden information in his words – the artifact from Master Niese, the key to leaving the town, the revelation that Lin Pei was the covert attacker, how he knew about the supposed artifact, whether it’s true he wasn’t injured, etc. – when they were scolded to red-faced embarrassment by his remark.

They were shaken, but they would never team up with Lin Pei to kill anyone, nor would they stand by and watch him get killed. But before they could even begin to explain, they were stunned by his blunt statement, "it won’t matter even if you’re killed"!

Why?

Didn’t the series of revelations imply that Lin Pei was the villain, and that he was on the side of good, standing with everyone else? Why then would he want to kill everyone?!

Lin Pei was just as unprepared. When Xu Huo revealed his intentions, Lin Pei had been thinking about how to persuade Ke Liang and the others to side with him. Now, that process could be skipped, for Xu Huo had no intention of quibbling with them. He wanted to take them all out in one go!

Among the players present, except for Gu Yu, everyone else was injured. Gu Yu had lost a powerful item, significantly reducing her combat effectiveness. In contrast, Xu Huo had only sustained minor injuries, and he also had a powerful, unknown item!

To flee or to wait?

Lin Pei had not yet made a decision when a guitar string tightened around his throat and lifted him off the ground!

Xu Huo immediately controlled Lin Pei with the guitar string, and then, with two consecutive taps of his heel on the ground, kicked the approaching Ke Liang and Shen Yi away with lightning speed!

They were too slow to react. One rolled over ten meters away, while the other crashed into a concrete pillar, unable to get up for the moment.

On the other hand, Xu Huo, with one hand gripped Gu Yu’s throat and glanced sideways at Wang Chaoqing, who was half-kneeling.

A second ago, Wang Chaoqing had thoughts in his mind, but upon meeting Xu Huo’s gaze, his mind went blank, and he smiled ingratiatingly, "Brother Xu, I firmly stand on your side!"

Xu Huo nodded towards Shen Xin. Wang Chaoqing immediately jumped up, twisted her arms behind her back, pressed down on her shoulders, and shouted, "Behave!"

Struggling, Shen Xin gasped, "Xu Huo, I really misjudged you, I thought you were a good person!"

"Let go of my sister!" Shen Yi picked up a cabinet to throw at them, but Wang Chaoqing, with an innate understanding, turned while holding Shen Xin’s neck, "Don’t move! Or I won’t be polite!"

Shen Yi, not wanting to harm Shen Xin, had no choice but to drop his makeshift "weapon," glaring at Wang Chaoqing with resentment, "Be careful. If anything happens to Shen Xin, I’ll make sure you go down with us!"

Ke Liang, on the other side, likewise dared not act rashly. His gaze shifted back and forth between Gu Yu and Lin Pei.

"Uh uh..." Gu Yu frantically scratched at Xu Huo’s arm, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. She glared hatefully at the man’s indifferent face, longing to stab her nails into him, but her arms weren’t long enough, only reaching the area below his shoulder.

Xu Huo did not even glance at the person in his grip, foaming at the mouth, but instead addressed Lin Pei, "I don’t even need to use an item to deal with these people. Your painstaking efforts to win them over seem rather ridiculous."

Lin Pei, who had been hoping for his companions to come to his "rescue" and was dangling by an injured leg, stopped struggling futilely. He pulled his legs up, flipped through the air to slip out of the guitar string, and as he landed, a longbow appeared in his hand, and he swiftly shot an arrow at Xu Huo!

Xu Huo was prepared and dodged to the side—the arrow buried itself into the ground!

With a glance and a hint of amusement, he commented, "Your arrows don’t have automatic targeting anymore? It seems this wall-less service station isn’t conducive to your performance."

Lin Pei’s pupils shrank dramatically, looking at Xu Huo with eyes filled with a grinding hatred. He had figured out the characteristics of his items from just one encounter!

"You’re very smart, why not join forces with me," he shouted, "We kill these people, split the items evenly, and go our separate ways afterwards!"

Ke Liang and the others were furious!

Xu Huo released Gu Yu, and the Crimson Sword suddenly appeared in his hand, slashing through the air!

"Boom!" A rest area a few meters away was sliced in half, while Lin Pei, who had been standing in front of it, used his injured leg to leap onto the roof of the gas station, and without looking back, fired an arrow before fleeing toward the depths of the town!
