Chapter 1023: Verify the Clearance Method

Chapter 1023: Chapter 1023: Verify the Clearance Method

"Are you sure this is the method to clear the game?" the lip-pierced Player spoke first: "You’ve got your corresponding number slip and book already."

"I’m not a dungeon player." Xu Huo clarified directly, "I just happened to enter this dungeon."

The others slightly shifted their eyes, with a bit more caution evident in their expressions.

If it were dungeon players, generally all would be Rank-C Players, if not, it would be troublesome.

"Let’s go downstairs." Xu Huo looked at the Player who had ambushed him.

That person, having had a few Props taken away by Xu Huo, was a bit resentful earlier, but now, faced with Xu Huo’s gaze, became much more compliant, hurriedly saying, "Why don’t we just give the method a try? If it works, it would benefit everyone."

Currently, the Players who got the slips and failed to kill the Player with the matching number can’t clear the game.

Those who got slips but couldn’t successfully kill the corresponding numbered Player won’t clear either.

What remains is for the Players mentioned on the slips to try using their matching numbers.

Number 10’s slip was indeed snatched by Xu Huo, but since Xu Huo isn’t a dungeon Player, he can’t verify it, thus he gave the chance to Number 10.

Under the current circumstances, it’s certainly beneficial for Number 10; if he can clear the game, he could leave immediately. Even the muscular man who had his slip stolen had been dealt with by Xu Huo, and since Xu Huo stole the slip purely to verify the method, there’s no possibility of him holding onto it.

But it may not be the same for other Players.

Of course, for Liang Zong, Ding Xiang, Teacher Fan, Zhou Yuanzhu and others who are also here, there isn’t too much of an issue currently, just wait for their corresponding numbered slips to appear.

As the muscular man said, generation Players, the lip-pierced Player, the spotted Player, and Chi Minghong are all likely to be on the second slip, which has already been taken by someone. It would be difficult to expect them to hand it over willingly, meaning, even if all Players manage to get different slips eventually, the second slip probably won’t appear again. If each number appears only once, one of these four could ultimately be unable to clear the game.

In this scenario, it’s quite likely these four would hide upon discovering a slip; if they get their number, they’ll reveal the slip. If not, too bad.

The slips one obtains usually won’t pair up exactly, such as having a situation where you have mine and I have yours – this is highly unlikely. A minimum of three people is needed to complete the loop, but as long as the Player on the second slip obtains numbers of other Players, an uncoordinated situation could arise at the end, potentially even creating a chain reaction.

If it is assumed that the method Xu Huo provided to clear is correct, the possibility of Players hiding slips from each other is very high. Moreover, to ensure their own numbers appear, Players would try as much as possible to keep others alive, inadvertently prolonging the clearance time.

Of course, if any of those four potentially corresponding to the second slip realize or suspect they won’t receive a slip, they might choose to destroy found slips or commit murder—though this possibility is slim.

Most likely, everyone will try to ensure they hold onto a slip.

This scenario makes prolonging the clearance time easier compared to when Players are unaware of the method. With the previous pattern, Players obtaining slips and then targeting others reveals them faster, whether in reducing numbers or grabbing slips more conveniently.

The muscular man hiding slip number 10 and attempting to persuade Xu Huo was intended to provoke other Players who later got a slip into exposing themselves—it’s a smart move. If a third person guessed this method, they would likely also keep quiet, hoping to find their corresponding slip in the process.

But Xu Huo isn’t playing this game.

The group headed downstairs, with eleven people searching together. To avoid anyone hiding the books, each person got a specific quantity of books and occupied a spot, to prevent any ambiguities later.

The book was found by the lip-pierced Player; when he paused holding the book, Xu Huo caught his reaction: "You found it?"

Xu Huo sat at the center of the hall, about four to five meters from everyone, but when the lip-pierced Player looked up, it felt as if Xu Huo’s presence was right in front of him; he hesitated for a moment, then handed out the book.

"Let me see, let me see!" the Ambush Player hurried over to grab the book, slapping the pages, "This is it!"

He then turned and handed it to Xu Huo.

Xu Huo took a look, then casually returned both the slip and book to him.

The Ambush Player tentatively took them, his eyebrows lifting the next second, "Cleared the game!"

"So the method to clear the game was this simple!" he paused for a second or two, probably checking his personal rewards but soon he smilingly handed a contact card to Xu Huo, "Brother Xu, if there’s anything good after getting out, contact me. I may not be good at much, but I can help!"

"Let’s go," Xu Huo took the card.

Number 10 successfully cleared the game, pulled out a long-distance moving Prop, and said: "Once I’m out of this villa area, I’ll send up a signal flare to notify you guys."

Then he disappeared from the villa, and in less than five minutes, a tiger-head colored signal flare lit up in the direction of the city center.

"The clearance method was actually this simple!" The bespectacled man still found it incredible, "So anyone who counter-kills the Player holding a slip can clear the game?"

"Then did you think of these books?" the lip-pierced Player mocked.

The bespectacled man glanced at him, "It was only a matter of time."

Once all possibilities are tried, the Players’ focus would inevitably shift to the stuff inside the villa.

"Not necessarily," Chi Minghong spoke, "Even if you know these books belonged to the original owner Jin Li, no one would match the content of the books with the content of the slips, after all, the illustrations on the slips are so abstract, and there are many not even the main characters in the books."

"Who would read each book thoroughly? I was just checking if anything was tucked inside them before."

The group’s attention turned to Xu Huo.

Xu Huo’s focus wasn’t here, "Number 10 successfully clearing indicates the slips are real. If the second slip wasn’t forged by Teacher Fan, it represents that the number of slips appearing daily could be variable."

"I definitely didn’t forge them!" Teacher Fan, still tied up, hurriedly asserted his innocence, "If you don’t believe me, you can test me with a Prop!"

"Props tests might not be accurate," the spotted Player maliciously remarked.

"Just shut up," Zhou Yuanzhu kicked him, "You’re in no position to argue with anyone looking like that. If we didn’t need you to find slips, you would have been dead already!"

The spotted Player sneered darkly, about to say something but then saw Xu Huo look his way, and he quickly swallowed his words.

Other Players might need slips, might be careful, but Xu Huo doesn’t need to clear the game. As long as he ensures most Players get their slips, who would oppose killing one or two?
