Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 1014: Probing Through Words

Chapter 1014: Chapter 1014: Probing Through Words

"You make a good point," Xu Huo conceded without arguing, immediately acknowledging his perspective.

The eyebrow-piercing Player was somewhat surprised, appearing as if he had something ready to retort, but upon hearing this response, could only reluctantly hold it back.

"I also think this guy’s words make more sense logically," another male Player said, "Ordinary Players wouldn’t use such a brutal method to kill, unless it’s a red Player, but as you have seen, nothing was taken from the body."

"This means we have a basic idea of what the instance wants Players to do," Chi Minghong said. "The key is that nobody heard any noise last night. Even with the help of a Prop, it would be difficult not to disturb anyone, and this is possible in a ritual-related instance, which might have restrictions on Players."

"Does that mean the person who received the note might even get protection from the instance’s power?" Miss Ding disagreed, "Instances rarely present such situations unless the game involves faction distinction."

"It’s hard to say that the person who got the note and the others aren’t opposing factions," Xu Huo added.

"All of us being Advanced Players, it wouldn’t be strange to have one or two powerful Props," Teacher Fan commented cautiously, "but we’ll need to be careful."

Whether it’s interference from the instance’s powers or the perpetrator has a Prop to shield them from others, it’s tricky business. Notes appear randomly, and who knows if the next recipient will be the same person?

Xu Huo wrapped the deceased Player in a sheet and moved the body to the main hall on the first floor.

Miss Ding looked disgustedly, "Why did you bring her down here? Isn’t it okay to just toss her in any room?"

Xu Huo chuckled, "Didn’t we say the instance might involve rituals? Since other rooms also have similar circular patterns, putting the body in them would play right into their hands. It’s better to bring it out, at least it won’t harm us."

"This is like interrupting a spell," Chi Minghong arrived smilingly to help and put several religious items on top, "Good and evil cannot coexist, let them clash."

After saying that, she high-fived Xu Huo.

"Nutcase," Miss Ding turned and left.

Besides searching the rooms, there wasn’t much for the Players to do. As for the broken lights, everyone had their own illumination Props and didn’t necessarily need to fix them, so no one bothered with maintenance. Everyone carried their Props with them, and unoccupied rooms were left in darkness.

District 002 was already devoid of light, and Snow White Villa was surrounded by dense forest, unable to even borrow the distant city lights, adding to the eerie atmosphere as Players moved about and shadows shifted.

Xu Huo took a round upstairs and then suggested checking the electrical lines.

With nothing better to do, Chi Minghong said, "Sure, we might as well cook something. We have the resources, no need to gnaw on dry food all the time."

The two hit it off and found the villa’s power supply room, discovering it was due to aging circuits that couldn’t support the increased electricity demand.

"The old landlord has been dead for quite some time, right? With Snow City’s advanced technology, it’s strange they never bothered to replace a single wire. If I’d inherited such a large property, I might not redo the decoration, but at least I would sort out the utilities to make living more comfortable," Chi Minghong, who had some maintenance skills, took the initiative and started working while talking: "That’s really stingy."

"This location is quite advantageous, near the city but with restrictions against reconstruction. It’s not certain that the inheritors reside here," Xu Huo said. "Besides, so many deaths here afterward."

Chi Minghong quickly fixed the circuits, and with the flip of a switch, the room’s lights came back on. She whistled with pride, "Seems like my skills haven’t rusted. Before becoming a Player, I was a bona fide firefighter!"

Xu Huo gave a thumbs-up.

They left the power room to cook, and as soon as they opened the door, they unexpectedly ran into a long-haired female Player coming out of the adjacent room.

She momentarily showed surprise when she bumped into them but quickly regained her composure and greeted them with a smile, "You guys fixed the electricity, huh?"

Chi Minghong glanced behind her, "Anything in your room?"

"What could there be?" The long-haired female Player smirked, "I’m just looking. Who knows if I might find a clue?"

The door was not closed, and most of the room was visible at a glance, just as cluttered as the other rooms.

As the three of them walked out, upon learning they were going to cook, the long-haired female Player offered, "I’ll go too. I have some specialties from my hometown that are well-preserved and ready to cook."

Chi Minghong certainly did not refuse, "Are you a good cook?"

"It’s decent," the long-haired female Player laughed, "Edible at least."

"That’s great, I’m not good at cooking, thank you for your help."

The long-haired female Player did not refuse and even brought out her own seasonings and cooking utensils.

"You are really well-prepared," Chi Minghong took out some vacuum-packed cooked dishes from the storage, "Let’s make a soup with your vegetables, your home isn’t far from District 002, so the vegetables are still fresh."

"No, I bought a Prop specifically for preservation, I can store some things, but not a lot," the long-haired female Player proficiently started cooking, "I used to be a full-time housewife. I signed up for a cooking class at home but didn’t keep it up after a while."

Chi Minghong glanced at Xu Huo, who was washing vegetables nearby, and didn’t crowd around but started chatting with her.

Their talk went from trivial matters to discussing the instance, and from the diverse instances to strange Players they had encountered.

"That guy with the lip piercing is pretty strange," the female Player said, "Last night, after everyone had gone to rest, I saw him come out. He wore a lady’s nightgown and knocked on the door of that very tall man... Are they a couple?"

Chi Minghong looked shocked, then said, "They probably don’t know each other, right? I didn’t see the muscular brother when I arrived, only saw him come upstairs later."

"Maybe they deliberately separated," the female Player smiled, "Many districts in the game don’t like same-sex love. I’ve been to one where families have to pay a fine if someone is gay, parents even go to prison, regardless of whether they’re male or female."

"That’s absurd," Chi Minghong said, "Jail them just because they can’t tolerate homosexuality, what does it have to do with the parents?"

"It’s a question of genetic guilt," the female Player shook her head, "As for siblings and other relatives, it’s because they failed to fulfill their supervisory duties."

"Speaking of which, District 002 isn’t much better," she continued, "That Player from the district seems to have psychological issues, doesn’t talk."

Chi Minghong nodded in agreement, "He touched every decorations in the hall; not sure if he is here for archaeology or to clear the instance."
