Chapter 1567: The Primarch’s Fate

With three factions voting for this proposition, Kong only needed four more for a majority. So, he started conversing and negotiating with the other factions through divine sense to gain their votes. It didn’t take long before Taoism also voted positively.

After what Supreme Unity did to the mortal’s population, the Tao Beginning Palace cannot afford to vote against a plan that involves the preservation of the mortal population. Although they would like to get some advantage from Kong, in the interest of their religion’s reputation, they voted positively.

"Wang Wei, are there any positions underneath the Vice-Commanders?" Mongke asked.

"Yes, there will be many generals under the Vice-Commanders," Wang Wei replied.

"Any requirements for the position?"

"They must be knowledgeable about the soul to direct the Battle Spirits, and it wouldn’t hurt if they had accomplishments in the arts of war."

"Give us 20 positions and we’ll vote in your favor," Mongke said.

"It’s not my project, so talk to Kong," Wang Wei said.

"Alright."

A few minutes later, the Barbarian race voted in favor. This vote did not count as a tally since only the Overlords’ votes counted. According to the assembly’s rules, the Primal Lineage’s vote only matters when something that directly negatively affects them is being voted on.

Kong’s Mortal Soul Legion is about increasing the individual faction’s strength and power, meaning their vote did not count. However, their support increased the momentum of Kong’s proposition. It also helped that less than ten minutes after the Barbarian Race voted in favor, another Primal Lineage — True Essence Lineage — also voted in favor.

Wang Wei glanced at Buddhism’s room. ’Why haven’t you said anything?’ He knew Maitreya was a compassionate woman, so she would save the mortals even if she had to use force. ’Do you have faith in Kong, or do you know something we don’t?’

Wang Wei was deep in thought, trying to figure out her mind. Because of how much more powerful Maitreya became, it was hard for him to deduce her thoughts or actions. After all, Wang Wei did not know the limits of a Primordial Saint. Heck, he barely knew the limit of Primals.

’Forget it, I’ll do it myself,’ Wang Wei thought. Time was of the essence, and he did not want to waste it here in this mindless political game. He would rather this meeting ended so that he could continue training to become a Primal.

He gazed at Kong on the podium and thought, ’ Since you already have the momentum, let me give you a little hand.’

"I have a question." His words brought everybody’s focus to the Dao Opening Sect.

"I’m listening," Kong nodded.

"What will happen if this plan does not pass?" Wang Wei asked.

A light flashed in Kong’s eyes. "I’m sure the relocation will pass since this is the perfect opportunity to gather a small amount of merit." His words caused the room to pause for a moment. There is no doubt that the first step of this plan would not be accepted. Now that everyone knew the value of merit, no one would refuse.

"As for the Mortal Soul Legion," Kong continued. "If this council fails to accept the proposition, I will just continue the plan with my academy, the Ten Thousand Buddha Haven, the Dao Opening Sect, and the Origin Seal Continent."

Kong’s words caused another pause, and this time, it was a deep one. These people have been fighting and trying to maintain a balance for eons, so it’s in their nature to prevent their competitor from having any advantage. Kong’s bill took advantage of that mindset.

No one wanted these four factions to have a Mortal Soul Legion, while everyone else did not. By accepting this plan, they will have a legion of Battle Spirits, and they will have some control over this legion. They can even compete for positions below the Vice Commanders.

However, if the proposition does not pass, they will have nothing. After figuring this out, the Limitless Exchange Hall, Skill Path Association, and Divine Faith Heaven voted in favor, achieving the seven-vote requirements. The other factions did not continue voting after the seventh, but the fact that no one voted no revealed a lot.

Kong grinned. "Thank you for your support. The plan has already been set up. After relocating the mortals, you can have them enter the Void Illusion Realm, and they will be transported to the training area." Kong cupped his fist to salute the crowd before flying into his seat.

"Anyone else want to take the floor?" Ying Zheng’s voice boomed into the palace. Everyone then remembered the main event: the eternal battle between the demon and Innate Demon Races. As expected, the Battle Saint and Myriad Star Rabbit Chiefs flew to the podium.

The Battle Saint Ape hasn’t changed much, still barefoot and wearing pants and an untied, loose robe. Meanwhile, the Myriad Star Rabbit still wore her white hanfu, but her pink hair was braided into a long ponytail.

"All of us here have lived a long life and experienced numerous wars," Battle Saint Chief started. "And one fundamental truth of war that I’m sure everybody has learned is that the rear cannot be chaotic — our base cannot have any unstable variables."

"But recent events have shown us a great flaw in our rear," the Myriad Star Rabbit continued. "How can we focus on the disaster when our people can turn against us with a snap of the finger? If we want a chance to survive, we must eliminate this unstable factor — no matter the cost."

The two chiefs did not say much, but they got their points across. So, as soon as they finished talking, all eyes were on the Primarch Origin Temple.

"Do you think it’s fair for our existence to be wiped out because of who we are?" said an ancient voice. Most people did not recognize the voice, but the Primals did: Elder Touch Dragon, one of the few Insurgent Heaven Primarch of the world, and probably the strongest Insurgent.

Elder Touch Dragon is considered the old living cultivator in the Eternal Ascension World, as his presence can be traced back to the Tribulation Era.

"We were born from Heaven and Earth — we are its children. And unfortunately, this means sometimes, we cannot resist the call of our mother."

"This is not about fairness," Battle Saint Ape said calmly. "It’s about how you’re a liability. Since you can be controlled once, it can happen a second time."

"I understand your concerns. That’s why our kind is willing to cooperate with Her Esteemed One, Lord Maitreya, to prevent this from happening again. We are willing to do whatever is necessary — even if it means temporarily handing over control over our soul."

"This is not helping as much as you think," Myriad Star Rabbit countered. "I don’t mean to be rude, but even Saint Matreya’s powers cannot guarantee the enemy will not control you again."

"If I used your logic, then doesn’t everyone present at risk? If a Transcendent Saint wishes to control anyone in this room, besides the Lord, who can escape?" Elder Touch Dragon argues.

"That’s not the same. As soon as the enemy arrives in this world and learn of our history, they will learn that your kind can be easily controlled."

"And controlling you has a different implication," Battle Saint Ape added. "You said it yourself — you are the children of Heaven and Earth. Through controlling you, our enemy can form a connection to Heavenly Dao and gain access to the core authority of our world. I don’t think I need to tell anyone how disastrous that will be."

Elder Touch Dragon was quiet. These words cut off all his other paths, including migrating to another Chaos World. He could ask to sever their clan’s connection to the Eternal Ascension World, but even if Maitreya was the one who did it, the backlash was probably enough to annihilate what little remained of the Primarchs.

"Let’s put it to a vote," Ying Zheng’s voice echoed after a brief period of silence. The result was overwhelming. Besides the temple that abstained from voting, everybody else voted in favor of eradicating the Primarchs. Even the Primal Lineages have voted, as this decision can affect them.

Elder Touch Dragon’s deep sigh echoed in the halls. "Lord Maitreya, please show the Primarch a little bit of compassion. We don’t ask much — just for the right to exist."

These words immediately intensified the atmosphere in the assembly. Everyone waited with bated breath, knowing that the next words coming out of Maitreya would dictate how the assembly — no, not just the assembly, everything—would proceed from now on. Do the remaining Overlords still have any power left, or is this world about to become Buddhism’s show?

Maitreya sighed softly. "Don’t you already know what path you must take? Your fate was determined long ago; you just refused to accept it. Now, there is no other choice."

Many people were puzzled by her words, but a few — including Wang Wei — squinted as a flash of understanding quickly passed in their eyes.

"The soul race," Qiyuan muttered.
