It's Your Turn To Cry and Beg, Dear Uncle
Chapter 45: Dangerously Attractive

Chapter 45: Dangerously Attractive

Kyra was talking and giggling with Valeria in bed when James suddenly returned. The two women immediately turned their heads to the opened door. Almost instantly, the smile on Kyra’s face disappeared and was replaced with a rather awkward expression. Her entire being stiffened as she gripped the rim of her blanket.

All of the sudden, the shame came rushing in and her cheeks burnt red like a well-cooked crab. James raised an eyebrow in amusement. His eyes had been on her from the moment he entered the room, hence he quickly noticed the obvious change.

How cute, the man chuckled internally despite looking deadpan outside.

Her adorable reaction was enough for him to discern what the young woman was thinking about. She must have figured out what had happened last night by now.

Although his heart was very much tickled and the urge to smile was on the tip of his lips, he didn’t want to embarrass her even more. At the same time, he wasn’t keen on getting chummy in front of a stranger. Thus, the man’s eagle-like eyes rested on Valeria silently, prickling the woman’s entire being.

The message was clear—Get lost!

Valeria was rendered speechless by his arrogance. Feeling offended, she couldn’t help but wonder, Don’t men usually try to win over their woman’s close friend so that they might get a brownie point with the friend’s praise?

Yet, all she received was a death glare and an expulsion. All of the sudden, Valeria felt like she had gotten the short end of the stick. Just moments ago, Valeria had encouraged Kyra to follow her heart and that it was okay if she loved the man.

She had indirectly rooted for James. But, an hour had yet to pass and she was being despised by the very person she had given her brownie points to.

No, she was not convinced!

Cursing internally, Valeria suddenly found the courage to oppose the powerful man. Instead of getting up and preparing to leave, she humped and turned her head away, smiling at Kyra again.

"Where were we again?" ...before the intruder entered?

There was a hint of challenge in Valeria’s tone as she spoke to her friend. Her eyes even twinkled with mischief. Kyra could clearly see through her friend’s meaningful smile as well as her slightly playful tone what she was up to. And she couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.

It was not difficult to guess where this newfound courage had come from. Her friend was obviously treating her as a backing in front of James. After all, Kyra reckoned that this very situation had always been Valeria’s dream. She had been ticked off by the man’s attitude for God knows how long and all she had ever wanted since then was to go up against him one day.

Hence, when she heard of James’ confession just now, she felt like her lifelong goal was right in front of her eyes and the final stamp was Kyra’s opinion. After that, no one, simply no one could understand how delightful she had felt when Kyra displayed a positive sign towards dating the man.

Her ultimate weapon was finally here!

And this exact weapon was even willing to be used as Kyra cooperatively responded, "We were talking about Orlando! You were just going on about how charming he is."

"Right! Gosh, I’ve never met a man as dashing as him before. I mean the way he carries himself, his composure, his gestures—everything about him exudes both danger and elegance," Valeria said, her tone brimming with admiration.

Kyra blinked, momentarily at a loss for words. "If you think he’s dangerous, doesn’t that make him a red flag in your eyes? So, why do you still find him so charming?"

Noticing her friend’s confusion, Valeria broke into a series of laughter.

"You really are innocent, My Dear," she said with a pitiful expression on her face. Thereafter, Valeria leaned over and gave Kyra a pat on the back like a kind teacher to her innocent student.

"Let me tell you something. The more dangerous a man is, the more attractive he becomes. It’s like looking at a panther—a deadly beast that could tear you apart in seconds, yet you can’t help but admire its strength and beauty. Your hand itches to touch it, constantly wondering how its pelt might feel. Isn’t that far more thrilling than a predictable, goody-two-shoes man whose every move you can already guess?"

Valeria smirked when she saw how Kyra’s eyes little by little sparkled under her enlightenment. "A dangerous beast leaves you guessing while a tamed one plays it safe! In some situations, safe is a good thing but in a relationship, it can be monotonous."

Kyra kept nodding her head like a little chick pecking on rice. The more she heard this, the more logical it sounded. No one could blame the young woman for being easily influenced by her friend. After all, in her twenty two years of life, she was never in close contact with any man and didn’t show the slightest interest in dating.

"And the same thing applies to women!" Valeria exclaimed once again.

Kyra tilted her head. "What do you mean?"

"Us, women, have to–"

"Ahem!"

Before Valeria could explain further, a loud noise interrupted her from behind giving her a good jolt. As she turned around, Valeria caught the man’s tall stature towering over her. His displeased eyes stared down at her as if he was looking at an ant that needed to be stomped out.

Valeria shuddered involuntarily. Meanwhile, Kyra was frozen stiff just from the man’s sudden noise. She was even more nervous and confused when she saw how dark the man’s expression had become.

With a deep frown on his face, James asked while leering at the bad influence, "Are you finished?"

Valeria gulped with much difficulty as she grinned awkwardly in an attempt to defuse the situation.

The two women had continued their conversation as though James was invisible until now. Hence, they failed to notice how the atmosphere inside the room had grown more and more suffocating as their incessant chattering rang in the air.

Although Valeria only planned to lightly tease the man at the beginning, she ended up becoming more excited as she talked about Orlando. In the end, the two girls had completely forgotten about James.

And now they had to face his ire. "So, what exactly are you planning to teach her?" James asked, his gaze cold as it moved between the two girls before settling on Valeria.

Valeria was speechless. "Umm..."

Initially, he had intended to indulge their playfulness, curious to see just how bold they could be. But to his surprise, they had let their guard down and proceeded to casually chat about men. He couldn’t help but wonder if this was a regular occurrence. Just how indecent had their conversations been so far?

James narrowed his eyes on Valeria. It’s clear that this woman is the source of bad influence.

If his woman needed to learn about men, then she should learn it from him and not some other people. Valeria should not concern herself with Kyra’s choice of men either, whether it was some dangerous beasts or even house pets. He would be the one to teach her everything!

As the man’s anger grew more intense, Valeria instinctively shrank back. Kyra’s support felt meaningless now, and escaping seemed like the better option. Yet, Valeria couldn’t help but feel indignant.

In the past, she was often angered by the man’s cold demeanor whenever she visited the mansion to spend time with Kyra. Her cheerful greetings would always be met with a curt hum, as if even speaking a single word to her was a burden.

She had hoped this time would be different, that she might finally gain the upper hand. But reality struck her with its harsh truth.

Lately, Valeria had been preoccupied. The attention Kyra’s company received after her challenge with Lila had kept her busy, leaving her with no time to text or call Kyra, let alone hang out. She had been eager to finish her tasks and plan a get-together. But just as she wrapped things up, news came that Kyra had been admitted to the hospital.

Worried, Valeria had rushed over the very next day. But before she could spend enough time with Kyra, the man had already shown up, his behavior as unpleasant as ever. Frustration bubbled within her, and finally, she decided to act.

As they said, regrets often come late.

Valeria let out an awkward laugh. "Hahaha...what do you mean? I ain’t teaching her about anything. I was just talking nonsense! Right, Kyra?"

However, before Kyra could even answer, her friend had already bailed on her. "Well, I have to get back to work now. Let’s catch up later. Bye, Kyra!!"

Without any hesitation, her dear friend rushed out of the room leaving her with James alone. Kyra slowly lifted her head and her eyes were instantly met with his.

James approached her with steady, measured steps, his calm demeanor betraying none of the storm raging within him. As he took a seat in front of the young woman, a faint smile tugged at his lips. Reaching out, he gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I was planning to talk about our relationship," he began smoothly, "but it seems your concern lies elsewhere right now."

As his smile widened, Kyra’s heart shuddered in nervousness.

"There’s nothing wrong with being curious."

Cupping her cheek with one hand, he leaned in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. "But perhaps you’d prefer a practical lesson over a verbal one."

Before she could react, James had already pushed her into a compromising position in one decisive move. In an instant, she found herself beneath him once more.

"What do you say, sweetheart?" he asked provocatively, unbuttoning his shirt with deliberate ease. "I assure you, I’m an excellent teacher."

Kyra was at a loss for words. In that moment, she somewhat understood what Valeria meant by a dangerous beast.
