Chapter 570: Chapter 569: Want to See the Guest

"""

Actually, even without a special plane, if he had booked a ticket in advance, a day would have been enough to fly a round trip.

Yusuf Zuck just hadn’t booked a ticket in advance, so if he had to squat in the luggage compartment, he still would have had plenty of time for the round trip. After all, there are so many flights from Hong Kong to Beijing that there’s probably a flight every hour between the two places.

At six in the morning, after hanging up on Devin King’s calls three times in a row, Yusuf Zuck directly boarded a flight to Beijing and hid in the luggage compartment.

In the luggage compartment, it was practically his own private jet since no one else was there. Except for being a bit cold and having a little less oxygen, it was something he could still overcome.

Devin King had called him three more times before that, but he didn’t answer. He could tell that Devin King’s use of him outweighed their friendship—if you could call it that.

To put it bluntly, Devin King is an official, and a high-ranking one at that. No matter how much he exudes the air of the jianghu, he’s still one of the officialdom. Perhaps, deep down, they don’t really respect people from the jianghu.

Yusuf Zuck didn’t want to bother him anymore, nor did he want to have anything to do with him. He wished Devin King would stay far out of his sight.

Whenever possible, avoid dealing with officials. Nothing good comes from getting involved with officials or politics!

Not just anyone can become a top merchant under the patronage of officials, and Yusuf Zuck didn’t want to be one because it’s dangerous.

In about three hours, by nine in the morning, the plane arrived in Beijing. Yusuf Zuck curled his lip, thinking to himself that without booking a ticket or using a special plane, he still managed to get back quickly, didn’t he?

He didn’t notify anyone and took a taxi straight home. It was safe in Beijing for the time being, with no disturbances. After all, the ghosts and monsters wouldn’t dare cause trouble here.

This is the heart of a nation, so how could the authorities allow fleas and lice to scurry around on their own heart?

Samuel Ross was in his villa, with no one else around, probably because he had drunk too much the night before and was now sleeping soundly on the sofa.

Yusuf Zuck hopped into the yard and then lifted the crack between the stone steps of the stairs to retrieve the Purple Glory Sword.

With a "whoosh" sound, Samuel Ross, unaware of anything unusual, suddenly burst out. Since he had reached the Truth-Seeking Realm, even in sleep, he was much more alert than before.

"You scared me! I thought we had a thief," Samuel Ross exclaimed as he saw Yusuf Zuck sneaking around and heaved a sigh of relief.

"What are you doing here?" Yusuf Zuck asked, sounding annoyed.

With a smile, Samuel Ross said, "I’m on 24-hour duty at home now. Today’s my shift."

"Nothing’s happened, has it?" Yusuf Zuck asked, holding the sword as he entered the house.

"Nothing much. Just some good news from Officer Lu; he’s split with that so-called model youth. Isaac Quintana and Memphis Blackwell were talking about it yesterday. You really have a way with things," Samuel Ross laughed heartily.

Yusuf Zuck grinned: "That’s good news. But I don’t have time for love and romance right now."

"Things are going well both with Ms. Wilcox and Louise Garrett. The investment fund has also been established, called ’Brothers Fund.’ We were a bit embarrassed, only accepting non-monetary equity," Samuel Ross said, claiming to feel embarrassed but without any sign of it on his face.

"That’s also good news," Yusuf Zuck smiled. "If you’re following me, I can’t let you all be penniless while I’m rolling in wealth. So with this fund and with Ariel Higgins managing it, it would be hard not to make money."

"There’s something else. If we have enough hands in Beijing, I need you to make a trip to Qingdao," Yusuf Zuck said as he told Maurice Singleton’s story about buying a ship.

"Sure, I’ll set off this afternoon. This is good news!" Samuel Ross immediately nodded, as he was essentially representing Yusuf Zuck to take a look.

"Discuss this matter with Marlon Shepherd too. The ship should be registered under Tianyi Investments, as Tianyi’s asset."

"Hmm," Samuel Ross nodded.

"By the way, how’s that CIA Auntie Alora doing?" Yusuf Zuck suddenly remembered the certain beautiful commander who was in the capital.

"She’s busted!" Samuel Ross laughed heartily.

"Busted? What do you mean?" Yusuf Zuck was puzzled.

"Almost got killed by that crazy woman Ariel. Ariel set up a trap, used a couple of pickpockets. When that woman was wandering the streets, they bumped into her and swapped her bag, which had a bomb in it. When the pickpockets stole the bag, they immediately called the police, and the police took her away upon arrival!" Samuel Ross said, unable to stop laughing.

"The bomb was real, not a fake, and it would have gone off in an hour. So Alora fell into the Yellow River and still couldn’t cleanse herself of the accusation."

"Haha, nice move." Yusuf Zuck burst into hearty laughter. A CIA agent sneaking into China with a timed bomb in her bag—what was she up to? Planning a terrorist attack?

"However, Ariel said that the woman would likely be sent back to her country, no big deal. A bit of diplomatic negotiation, maybe exchange a spy or two, and she’ll be released. But it’s still a good thing; at least it helped the country!"

"Haha, definitely a good thing. Send her back, and it’s all good. I was actually worried that woman might dig something up on me. Alright, nothing else, I’m off." Yusuf Zuck picked up his sword and walked out.

Samuel Ross saw him to the door, but didn’t offer to take Yusuf to the airport, as he was on house duty.

Just as Yusuf hadn’t yet left the villa complex, his phone suddenly rang. He picked it up and saw it was Ruth Wilcox calling.

"Yusuf, are you in the capital?" As soon as the call connected, Ruth asked him if he was in the capital.

"Er..." Yusuf was taken aback. He didn’t ask anyone to keep his return to the capital a secret, so Sara or Mia must have contacted Ruth, it wasn’t strange that she knew.

"Yeah, I am, but I’m just about to leave. I need to get back to Hong Kong before dark; something came up there."

"There’s a flight at two this afternoon, so you could be in Hong Kong by five. How about I book the two o’clock flight for you?" Ruth offered.

"Fine, what’s the matter? Tell me." Yusuf knew something must have come up on Ruth’s end; otherwise, she wouldn’t be asking him to stay.

"Where are you? I’ll come pick you up, we’ll talk in person," Ruth spoke softly.

"I’m at the Jade Garden compound, um, come to my house to pick me up." Yusuf said as he turned around and headed back.

"Alright, I’ll be there with Benedict Cooke shortly." Benedict was Ruth’s driver, and it seemed she was quite comfortable using him. After all, Benedict didn’t speak much—a real strong, silent type who just got things done.

In just over forty minutes, before half-past ten, Benedict pulled up in the A6 outside Yusuf’s villa.

This was Ruth’s first visit here, although she knew Yusuf had a place, she had never been because she heard that Miles O’brien lived nearby, so she couldn’t come.

"Yusuf, get in the car, we’ll talk. I won’t come down," Ruth said from the rolled-down window, motioning to him.

"Coming." Yusuf got into the car and sat in the back with Ruth while Benedict continued to drive.

"Your place is pretty big, pretty nice," Ruth said with a hint of jealousy. "I heard they were giving away a villa with each purchase!"

"Yeah, Marlon Shepherd gave it to me. There’s an even bigger one in Australia, also from Marlon. I’ve never been there; how about we make time for a vacation?" Yusuf replied jokingly.

Before Ruth could respond, Yusuf continued, "Anyway, what’s so urgent that you needed to see me?"

Ruth replied, annoyed, "I’ll settle my score with you later." She took a deep breath, "Today at noon, you’re treating me to lunch. We have some guests!"

"Guests?" Yusuf raised his eyebrows. "Heh, sure, I’m actually curious to meet them!" Yusuf guessed it; he was going to meet with everyone from the Wilcox family!
