Chapter 524: Chapter 523: Dragon Gate Order

Rachel Fournier emerged, donned in a set of men’s coarse robes that were quite oversized and simply washed. However, when she strode out with large steps, Westin Wilcox, Caleb Wilkinson, Ruben Larson, and Alan Newton were all taken aback, because prior to this, Rachel’s appearance had been beyond recognition, and they were well aware of the gravity of her injuries.

But now, even the scar on her face had disappeared, and her hands, the fingernails of which had been pulled out, had actually grown back.

They looked at Rachel as if seeing a monster.

"Congratulations," Yusuf Zuck laughed heartily, noting a change in the aura of Rachel, who had just advanced into the Truth-Insight realm, resembling that of a lofty figure.

Rachel glanced at the four and sighed, "I didn’t expect to turn a misfortune into a blessing and make a breakthrough into Truth-Insight all at once. Thank you."

"Truth-Insight?" Upon hearing Rachel’s words, the four were shocked once again. They knew that they were merely beginners themselves, and the deceased Sect Leader of Mount Emei hadn’t even reached the Grandmaster level yet, but Rachel had already achieved Truth-Insight?

"Congratulations, Martial Aunt Harley," the four immediately congratulated in unison.

"Hmph, you four blockheads," Rachel scowled at them and said testily, "Do you think that villain, after using you, would let you off the hook? Luckily you still have a conscience, otherwise, I would have asked Yusuf to slaughter you."

"Yes, yes, Martial Aunt’s reprimand is right," they all acknowledged, humbled before Rachel’s seniority by a generation, and although they belonged to the orthodox sect, they neither possessed natural treasures nor received a true inheritance, so it was already quite an achievement for them to have made it to the threshold.

Rachel suddenly sighed and said, "All you want are the secret scrolls passed down from Mount Emei. Actually, it’s no problem to give them to you. I’ll retrieve the scrolls later; you can just take them and have a look."

"Thank you, Martial Aunt," the four rejoiced, but then they exchanged glances and Westin bowed, saying, "Martial Aunt, now Mount Emei is without a leader. Please, take charge and ascend to the Sect Leader’s position, and we four will serve you with loyalty."

"Not interested," Rachel immediately rejected flatly, "You treasure that Sect Leader position as something precious and honorable, but you fail to realize that in the eyes of my master and me, it’s worthless."

"Please agree, Martial Aunt. After this upheaval, if no one takes charge, Mount Emei’s future is at risk. Please consider the centuries-old lineage and inheritance of our sect," Westin and the others pleaded on their knees. With Rachel having received the true transmission and achieving Truth-Insight, her becoming the new Sect Leader was only proper. With such a move, Mount Emei would rise as a powerful sect rather than remain in its half-dead state as before.

In the past, even though their sect was orthodox, the orthodox Sect Leader had also just reached the threshold, not even a Grandmaster, so he was not highly regarded.

Now a major change had occurred, but it also brought a turning point. If Rachel took over as Sect Leader, then their Mount Emei would have a Truth-Insight grandmaster, and who then would dare to look down upon Mount Emei.

"I don’t have time, I still need to go to Hainan..." Rachel frowned and said.

"As long as Martial Aunt assumes the Sect Leader position, the four of us will take care of the secular matters in the sect; Martial Aunt can enjoy leisure and pleasure, do whatever you wish without any delay!"

"Hold on, let me interject," Yusuf, who had been listening for a while, suddenly cut in, "If Martial Aunt Harley takes over as Sect Leader, are there any traditional restrictions, like one must not marry or anything like that?"

"There used to be such restrictions, but not anymore," Westin and the others, being old and sly, immediately explained, "What era are we in now? The relations of kinship are the most righteous principles of Heavenly Dao. Martial Aunt is still young, of course, she can marry and have children, this would be a blessing for our Mount Emei!"

"Who said that?" Rachel glared and said, "The ancestral teachings clearly state that the one seated as Sect Leader cannot marry, so how come you’re saying it’s allowed now?"

"Since you can’t marry, then don’t take the position," Yusuf immediately agreed, chuckling with glee.

"You say just don’t take it as if it were that simple?" Rachel seemed particularly conflicted, glaring back at Yusuf, then suddenly gritted her teeth, "Fine, go ahead and prepare. Keep everything simple, pay respects to the ancestors, get the name engraved on the tablets, and that’s it."

"Yes, yes," upon hearing Rachel’s decision, Westin and the others were overjoyed.

Yusuf, however, was stunned and frowned at Rachel, saying, "Harley, what are you doing?"

"I’m not up to anything." Rachel Fournier suddenly blushed. "It’s none of your business."

"Fine, you can assume the position if you want, but Westin Wilcox and you guys listen up, remove the rule from the ancestral teachings that the Sect Leader must not marry." Yusuf Zuck said coldly.

"What does it have to do with you? Look, those things I told you before, I was just playing around. Don’t take them seriously," Rachel Fournier had thought she was crippled and disfigured, and thus doomed, which is why she had the courage to tell Yusuf Zuck she liked him. But that was all it was, just a liking, she hadn’t considered anything more.

"I know, and you don’t think about it either. Even if you don’t marry me, marry another man. Who lives as an old maid their whole life? Are you silly?" Yusuf Zuck stared at her and said.

With a "pfft," Rachel Fournier was amused by Yusuf Zuck.

"Alright, alright, you guys go get ready. Record Yusuf Zuck as an honorary guest in the clan records and prepare a new set of clothes for me," Rachel Fournier said with a laugh, waving her hand towards Westin Wilcox and the others.

"Yes, we’ll be right back, right back." Westin Wilcox and the others all lived in the urban area of Mount Emei, and they each had their own clan or school. In the Earth Realm of Sichuan, they were considered influential figures, so preparing these things was no big deal for them.

Once Westin Wilcox and his group had left, Rachel Fournier beckoned Yusuf Zuck with her finger and gave him a meaningful look.

Yusuf Zuck, puzzled, followed Rachel Fournier into the courtyard.

"This token was left to me by my master. Actually, both my master and I don’t know what it’s for, but if someone else wants it, I won’t give it up," Rachel Fournier huffed.

"What kind of token? And where did your master get it from?" Yusuf Zuck asked curiously.

"It’s a ’Dragon’ Gate Order inscribed in traditional characters. My master got it from my grandmaster, who made a point before dying that this token is very important and must not fall into the hands of villains. But the Sect Leader thinks you’re not bad, so I’ll give it to you. Take it and study it, see what the token is used for!"

"Dragon Gate Order?" Yusuf Zuck found it bizarre; he had never heard of a Dragon Gate Order. He knew of a dragon head cudgel from movies, which was fought over by Hong Kong gangs—the one who got it became the leader.

Could this Dragon Gate Order be of the same nature as that dragon head cudgel?

But that didn’t seem right either. According to Marcus Escobar, there were many such tokens.

"It’s no use to me; you keep it..." Yusuf Zuck shook his head.

"Do you want me to die?" Rachel Fournier countered.

"Uh... right, right, give it to me. Don’t keep it, give it to me." Yusuf Zuck nodded repeatedly. If the item stayed with Rachel Fournier, it was likely that others would come after her, and she might not be safe. But with Yusuf Zuck, it would be secure. How many people in the world could snatch treasures from him?

"But don’t advertise it. Just the two of us need to know about this thing. If that Dragon Gate Order turns out to be a key to a treasure vault, and once you’ve figured it out and dug up the treasure, share half of it with me!"

"Fine, if there’s treasure, I’ll give it all to you for your dowry!" Yusuf Zuck laughed heartily.

"I like that idea. I’ll take it." Rachel Fournier was generous by nature, so she also laughed heartily.
