“Nair…”
Sapphire cooed as she nuzzled against the scars on Nitey’s chest, a little memento from their harrowing battle against the imposter Charizard several months ago.
“Nite…” Nitey chuckled, feeling a little ticklish at his mate’s touch as they leisurely floated on the lake’s surface, his tubby belly serving as a bed for Sapphire to rest on.
Both their humans along with the nurse girl were out on a “sleepover” tonight and there wasn’t enough room in the tiny apartment to accommodate two adult Dragons. So Sapphire’s flashy servant man prepared some food for them in a magical sack and the pair of Dragons decided to Fly off and have an intimate little outing of their own.
“Nair… Dragonair…” Sapphire whined as she nibbled playfully on Nitey’s wavy antennas. The Dragonair has been feeling envious of Nitey ever since his Evolution, an unfortunate part of her competitive nature, despite her human’s assurance that she should just take her time and steadily build up her foundations first.
“Nitee…” The Dragonite groaned, his newly acquired antennas were super sensitive, so Sapphire’s teasing was especially discomforting. However, Nitey’s reaction seemed to have gotten a rise out of Sapphire as the Dragonair wrapped her serpentine body around Nitey and doubled down on her teasing.
“Drago! Dragonite!” Nitey splashed and squirmed in the water in protest, but Sapphire was heedless of his cries. So eventually, he dove into the water to wrestle with the mischievous Dragonair.
Draconic and Electric auras crackled and intertwined, completely disrupting the rest of the local wildlife who all swam off in fright as the lake flashed and boiled. Until eventually, an exhausted Dragonite floated back up the surface, limbs splayed to the side, with a triumphant Dragonair poised atop her conquest.
“Nite… Dragonite…” Nitey grumbled, complaining about how unfair it was that Sapphire had wrapped her noodly body around his neck and kept chomping at his antenna.
“Nair! Dragonair!” A win was a win, Sapphire proclaimed. Though she was fully cognizant of the fact that her mate went easy on her — Nitey was foolishly charming that way, very unlike the vulgar brutes of her clan.
“Nair~” Sapphire nuzzled against Nitey’s bulbous cheeks in appeasement then proceeded to gently press her snout against his like what she saw the humans on TV do — an act that Lilian often practiced with her pillow as well, though Sapphire had no idea why.
“Drago-nite…” Nitey pouted and let out an exaggerated huff, but still raised his newly acquired arms to embrace Sapphire in a cuddle. The Dragonite loved hugs, both giving and receiving. Though it wasn’t until he acquired arms of his own that he truly understood the joy of holding someone in his embrace — finally being able to sympathize with his human, much to Nina’s chagrin, who often complained about Nitey using her as a “human plushie” when they slept.
The two Dragons stayed that way for some time, merely indulging in each other’s touch as they basked in the chilling flow of the glassy lake under the glowing moonlight.
“Dragon… Dragonair…” Sapphire cooed, asking for the umpteenth time what it was like to have wings and limbs.
Nitey let out a throaty chuckle. There wasn’t much that he could say that wasn’t already said, but he knew that his mate was just being antsy about her Evolution — Sapphire was adorable that way.
In truth, it did feel weird, to suddenly have so many appendages grow out of his body. Nitey had always taken pride in his elegant serpentine form — his human’s favourite. However, he had looked forward to growing wings as well, to finally be able to Fly into the skies and explore the world with his newfound family.
Nitey recalled that Nina said something about how some Dragonair in a cartoon was able to Fly with their ear wings as well, but they never did figure out how. And if the girl couldn’t find any clues on that little red device of hers then it was probably all just a fantasy.
It was quite uncanny actually, how Nitey got used to his new limbs so quickly. Nina said that it might just be the instincts hidden within his Dragonite ancestry awakening with his Evolution. And it did feel that way — the way that Nitey just automatically knew how to move his hands and grab things, something that he initially thought would be a problem when he was still wriggly noodle Dragon.
Though there was still an adjustment period of course. Many things that he used to do so naturally worked differently now that he had limbs. Swimming, for example. There was genuinely a frustrating period of time where he couldn’t swim as fast as he used to, so Nitey had to relearn how.
Then some of his older battle moves were just more awkward to use now, like his signature Double Tail which didn’t have quite the same reach with his Dragonite form’s stubby tail. Where before he could use the full length of his serpentine form, now he had to get so close that he might as well use his fist — something that he was currently working on with Nina, which was to develop a combination punch move. And given how quickly he could charge Type Energy now, being able to let out a fury of punches on command might just be for the better.
“Nair. Dragonair!” Sapphire whined, knocking Nitey out of his musings. The Dragonair was already feeling bored of their inaction. The Blackthorn Dragon had always been more restless than the carefree Nitey.
“Niitee…” Nitey stirred from his rest, asking if Sapphire wanted to go on a little trip in the skies, eliciting enthused cries and more kisses from the Dragonair. And with that, Sapphire coiled around Nitey’s belly like a belt as the Dragonite shot into the skies with a loud boom, sending a violent shockwave through the calm surface of the pristine lake and rustling the nearby trees.
“NAIIIRRR!!!” Sapphire cried out in excitement as they whistled through the skies in Extreme Speed, before Nitey slowed down to a leisurely cruise around the skies of Mount Moon to take in the scenery — motes of light dotting the cityscape of Pewter, like a sea of fire licking at the base of the mountain. And in the distance, separated by a dark ocean of trees was the imposing figure of Mount Silver, its granite body gleaming under the moonlight.
Sapphire’s eyes sparkled as she took in the passing stream, more eager than ever to Evolve and acquire wings of her own.
Then, as the air settled, Nitey burst forth once more, once again breaking the speed barrier as he flew south, across the ocean.
“Niiiite!!!” The Dragonite cried out in joy and flew lower to the sea, crashing against an encroaching wave in a burst of salty foam while he reached out with his claws to draw a line in the water.
Along the way, a massive Tentacruel, glowing a sinister red, emerged from the waters to strike at the two intruding Dragons. But Nitey was indifferent, as if a slow and lumbering mushroom head like that could ever catch his speeding form. Here in the air, Nitey reigned supreme — there was scarcely another species that were faster Flyers than a Dragonite.
Nitey flew and he flew, past the Orange Islands, like colourful jewels of the sea, and headed westwards, towards Hoenn, where the pair of Dragons could feel the call of an immense concentration of Dragon Type Energy.
***
Nitey recalled his youth, when he was still a Dratini. This was a time where he had just met Nina and was filled with curiosity for the wider world.
Back then, the girl would often tell him stories, to coax the hyperactive Dratini to sleep. One of his favorites was about a Dragon sanctuary to the west, guarded by a secretive tribe of Draconids — supposedly, humans with the blood of Dragons flowing through them.
Nitey had always wanted to go. And since he now had wings and was accompanied by a Dragon from the Blackthorn clan, he figured now was a good opportunity to do so. After all, the human Dragon Tamers were all friends right? Surely nothing could go wrong.
“Naiiirr…” Sapphire awed at the powerful sensation suffusing her very being. Before them was the fabled Dragon sanctuary of the Draconids, a destination that every member of the Blackthorn clan aspired to visit at some point in their lives.
The sanctuary was a sea of ancient trees, each rivaling the size of a human building, set amidst rocky spires, akin to spears cast down from the heavens, and stormy mountaintops, each large enough to make Mount Moon look like a toddler in comparison.
To the side, beyond the mountain range, was a desert; endless sand dunes marked by bottomless canyons, like someone had cracked the earth and left behind an eternal scar.
But most impressive of all was the ‘Cradle’. A rocky formation at the center of the sanctuary, where all the biomes converged. From the surface, the cradle-like formation looked like a massive egg — an egg that had long since hatched, leaving behind a broken and hollowed shell. And both Nitey and Sapphire could tell that this was the center of it all — the source of the intense Dragon Type Energy that they had been feeling.
“Sala. Salamence!”
However, before the pair could get any closer to the Cradle, they were intercepted by an unfamiliar quadrupedal Dragon with a pair of red crescent wings and scales of bluish hue.
“Nite. Dragonite!” Nitey halted and greeted the other Dragon with a smile and a friendly wave, just like his partner taught him to do, merely eliciting a haughty scoff in return from the Salamence.
“Nair! Dragonair!” Sapphire cried out in rebuke. Her pride as a Blackthorn Dragon would not allow her to be belittled in any way, especially by some wild, untrained cretin.
“Sala!!!” However, the Salamence was not backing down, persisting with his warning that the two foreign Dragons had no right to encroach upon their sacred land and that they should get lost before he made them.
Sapphire twitched in anger and bit back with her own rebuke as the two Dragons flared their aura at each other.
Meanwhile, the good natured Nitey was at a loss as he looked back and forth between the two. Unsure of how to defuse the situation. That was until Salamence said something demeaning about the pacifist Dragon and invoked the ire of Sapphire, who then urged her mate to go teach the lowly wild Dragon a lesson.
Nitey sighed, feeling hesitant about the situation. He didn’t want to risk causing any problems for his partner. But as the Salamence continued to run his mouth and insult the “weak” and “wingless” Sapphire, even Nitey was beginning to feel his patience tested.
“Nite! Drago, Dragonite!” Nitey chided, demanding that the rude Dragon apologize to Sapphire first if he wanted them to leave.
However, the Salamence just sneered and further flared his aura, challenging Nitey to make him if he could.
“Drago…” Nitey growled, his temper finally snapping as the Draconic blood within him boiled with rage.
“DRAGO! DRAGONIIITE!!!” Nitey exploded and unleashed his dominating aura in a challenging roar. He was Nina’s partner, a Dragon trained by the Cerulean Gym and forged in the crucible of battle against a Mega Pokemon. As if some measly wild Salamence, who wasn’t even an Alpha, could intimidate him with such paltry aura.
Salamence groaned and faltered, backing off slightly from the sudden pressure that engulfed him. However, his retreat did not last long as the Salamence scowled and roared back in defiance, to challenge Nitey to a battle of supremacy.
“Drago…” Nitey growled, gladly accepting the challenge and even graciously allowing the pathetic Salamence to pick his venue of choice.
Salamence scowled, but conceded to the advantage all the same as he flew off towards the desert, atop a barren, rocky plateau which served as a perfectly confined arena.
As they flew, other Dragons converged as well, the cries of challenge and battle having piqued their interest; Flygons and Vibrava from the surrounding sand dunes, curious little Altarias and unevolved Swablus, Noiverns gliding silent through the air, Garchomps with their rocket fins, and even other Dragonites and a handful of Salamences.
There was also a little red Dragon that Nitey had never seen before, but she seemed really friendly as she circled around Nitey with words of encouragement and a friendly wave, much to the chagrin of the jealous Sapphire.
Upon reaching their destination, Nitey fretted over where to deposit his flightless mate, until the friendly red Dragon offered to help by enveloping Sapphire in her aura and levitating the Dragonair next to her.
“Nite-nite!” Nitey cried out in thanks and made a mental note to ask Nina about the mysterious Pokemon when he got back. His partner had made sure to educate him on all the species of Dragons they might encounter in the future, but he couldn’t recall ever seeing anything quite like little red before.
Silence descended as both combatants settled on the piece of ancient rock, a sandy breeze brushing past their hardy scales. It wasn’t the most ideal environment for Nitey, but no matter, he would make it work.
“SAAA!!!” One of the elderly Salamence roared out, prompting the other spectating Dragons to join in as well, each with their own distinctive cries. And before long, the entire sanctuary was saturated with Draconic roars that echoed throughout the night sky.
The moment that the cries suffused and calm settled, Nitey exploded into the skies with a loud boom. Meanwhile, Salamence let loose an indiscriminate Dragon Breath, lighting the darkness with purple Draconic flames.
Nitey scoffed as he soared through the air. Espy was always going on about how wild Pokemon were uncivilized brutes, and that Salamence’s reckless outburst was just proving her right.
The Dragonite danced, twirling and twisting in the skies, summoning storm and lightning in his wake. Part of Nitey’s adjustment involved learning how to dance again with this new, more cumbersome physique of his. It was a good thing he received plenty of help from his seniors at the Cerulean Gym.
On the bright side, although Nitey had lost his weather manipulation orbs, that aspect of his abilities remained intact and was more potent than ever. In fact, he could feel a dense sphere of energy roiling within his abdomen, like a miniature exploding sun.
Salamence roared and met Nitey’s domain with a Hurricane as he flapped his powerful wings and chased after the Dragonite.
However, Nitey was unfazed. Merely continuing to dance in place, the Mystic Water pendant tied to his collar gleaming a brilliant blue to feed the orange Dragon with the Water Type Energy needed to form a tidal wave — a wave that encompassed Salamence’s Hurricane and subsumed it, forming a Water Spout in its place.
This was a move that Nitey had been working on with Nina recently. It was inspired by the Gyarados from the first ever Star battle that they witnessed many years ago. Nitey hadn’t gotten to the point where he could maintain both Hurricane, Surf and Whirlpool at the same time just yet. But with Salamence generously providing the foundational Hurricane, all Nitey had to do was hijack it by changing the very element of the move.
Salamence roared as the Water Spout closed in, completely consuming the brutish Dragon and sucking it into its violent vortex. Storm clouds converged, unleashing crackling Thunder that struck at the eye of the whirlpool.
“DRAGOOO!!!” Nitey roared out in rage and dove into the whirling mass of water to latch onto the struggling Salamence, his fist crackling with Electric Type Energy as he repeatedly laid into the opponent Dragon.
“SAAAA!!!” Salamence howled in pain, but fought back all the same, clawing at Nitey and slamming wings infused with Flying Type Energy at the Dragonite.
However, the Salamence’s claws could barely reach Nitey who was choking him from behind. And his wings, while powerful, could barely contend with the violent tide fighting against them.
One move that did hit though, was a Dragon Tail from Salamence’s long slender tail — a trait that definitely did not invoke jealousy from the chubby Dragonite. Nope, couldn’t have been Nitey. Must have been a different orange Dragon with an infuriating stubby tail.
And Nitey certainly did not defy Nina’s ban on his use of Outrage to mildly infuse his punches with more power to retaliate against Salamence. Nope, nuh-uh. Couldn’t have been him.
As the Water Spout dissipated into a thin, refreshing shower, the two Dragons crashed loudly onto the rocky plateau; Salamence heaving, bruised and battered, with Nitey saddled atop him, glowing blue and purple, and crackling with Electric Energy, his eyes glowing a faint red in Outrage.
“DRAGOOO!!!” Nitey cried out once more and infused his other fist with Water and Dragon Type Energy — this was the punch attack that was going to replace his Double Tail — and proceeded to pummel Salamence relentlessly. Thunder Punch followed by Nitey’s new punch, then again and again and again, until Salamence fell unconscious on the ground.
“DRAGO! DRAGONIIIITE!!!” Nitey roared in triumph, prompting a wave of celebratory roars in return from the surrounding Dragons, to congratulate the newcomer on a battle well-fought.
“Naiir!!!” Sapphire charged into Nitey’s embrace, coiling all around him and nuzzling affectionately against her mate with a passionate gaze. The Dragonair felt an intense desire to be intimate with Nitey after witnessing his might.
Nitey jolted at Sapphire’s overbearing touch, the residual Outrage fading from his eyes. “Nite?” The Dragonite lightly shook his head and looked around to take in the fiery gazes surrounding him. He had a feeling that they’d be held up by a whole bunch of troublesome matters if they didn’t leave now.
So Nitey cried out once more, to thank the Dragons of the sanctuary for their warm welcome and apologise for the commotion. But before he left, he made sure to Fly up to the little red Dragon and gave her a hug, then bidding farewell and heading home, concluding a very eventful night.
“Nite…” Nitey sighed in exhaustion. The Dragonite was contemplating what to say to Nina when he got back, to explain the bruises on his body. Meanwhile, Sapphire was pestering him to make a stop somewhere secluded where they could engage in intimacy without reserve.

Author's Note:
So I've been replaying Pokemon SoulSilver lately. Just to see if I could come up with any novel ideas for Part Three along the way.
It's been many many years since my last playthrough so my memory is quite spoty. But What. The. Fuck! Since when was Bugzy so damned OP?!!!
Stupid Scyther and their stupid U-Turn! My team kept getting wiped over and over and over again. Took me at least half an hour of constant reloading just to beat him.
That's it, I'm gonna have Nina and Nitey go in and steamroll that stupid twink!
I'm not even gonna give him the dignity of a battle, it's just gonna be a smash cut to a smouldering crater where the his stupid Gym used to be.
I went into Part Three with a simple rule. Each Gym Battle has to be challenging and meaningful in some way or another. But I'm gonna break that rule just for you Bugzy. You stupid little twink. Just you wait.
On a side note, this week has been shit. The sort of week that just won't stop sucking. Really makes me wanna just curl up in bed and not wake up.
So hopefully you guys are doing better out there, living the good life.
