Chapter 66: A Gesture of Goodwill

Shi Jing headed back to the small house that located toward the outskirt of the village.

He knew that after his action, it was impossible to remained in the village. It didn’t matter anyways, since his goal has been somewhat achieved, although in a form that was not within his control.

Fortunately, his white level mission target current condition is quite peculiar.

Being chased and hunted by the Sword Cloud Manjor, Shi Jing believed that the target wouldn’t run anywhere and remained hidden within the Forgotten Dark Forest.

Another reason he couldn’t stay at this Greenmud Village for too long is due to another reason.

[Mission: Eliminate a reincarnated soul of the heavenly court (x1).

Reward: Minor Cultivation Base x3.

Time limit: One-Year.

Failure: Death.

Note: The longer the mission is left unattended, the stronger the reincarnate soul. It is advised to complete the mission as soon as possible.]

Shi Jing fell into deep thought as he take strides toward the small house.

This mission has been in the back of his mind since sometime ago. This is because the one year time limit is about to be over.

If not for this, just the need for merit alone is not enough to cause him to venture outside and waste his precious time.

’Do I really have to kill him? The consequences is too great...’

"Xiao Yu, you can come out now." Shi Jing said, stopping just a couple of feet away from the hidden compartment in the floor.

Immediately, a rattled sound came from below. Followed by Xiao Yu bright eyes peering through the gap of the wood.

"Are they gone, Uncle Jing?"

"They are gone." He said with a nod as he watches Xiao Yu clumsily climb out the floor.

Without much thought, Shi Jing walked to Xiao Yu, placed his hand on the child’s head, and examined him.

"Uncle?" Xiao Yu was confused as to why Shi Jing was patting his head, but he didn’t stop him.

After a brief moment of silent, Shi Jing spoke with a melodic voice.

"Xiao Yu, you have a spirit root, are you willing to walk the path of immortality?"

"The path of immortality?" Xiao Yu muttered in shock. He didn’t understanding what Shi Jing meant.

After all, he was just an orphan who lived in the Greenmud Village all his life. Immortality and cultivation aside, the only ’Immortal’ he has ever witness is that Immortal Cheng!

However, Xiao Yu is a smart child, how could he not grasp some clues?

"U-Uncle Jing, are you an Immortal?"

From the way Uncle Jing appeared as well as his stories regarding the Immortal, not to mention his aloft attitude which always made him mysterious.

Xiao Yu has this guess since their first meeting.

"No," Shi Jing said, shaking his head with a slight smile," There are no Immortals in this world."

Hearing this, Xiao Yu was confused.

However, he believed Uncle Jing very much, so he quickly said.

"Uncle Jing, I want to believe Immortal! I want to walk the path of immortality, obtain great power, and make people live good!"

Hearing this, Shi Jing didn’t comment on the young child’s aspiration, merely nodding his head in approval.

With a flick of his wrist, Xiao Yu body dropped, falling asleep instantly.

Then, Shi Jing touched his storage pouch, taking out low-grade talisman and placed it on Xiao Yu’s body.

Finally, the final gift is a jade slip as well as note.

This jade slip contained the Iron-Body Transformation Body Art, which is now useless to him. It is better to hand it to this child.

The slip also contained a rudimentary Qi-Cultivation art, a derivative that he created using the Sword Cloud Manor Qi-Cultivation art as the base.

Due to his low cultivation and comprehension, this art can only be cultivated up to Peak of Qi-Refinement. Its efficiency is also low, but he knew that he couldn’t hand over the Sword Cloud Manor techniques.

Shi Jing final gift is a note. This note addressed to Elder Chen Lian, it was a personal letter of recommendation from Shi Jing himself.

With this note, if the child so wished, he can find Elder Chen and enter the Sword Cloud Manor. Shi Jing believed in Elder Chen ’desire’ for merits, and with his character, the elder wouldn’t harm Xiao Yu.

Besides this, the note also contained a trace of Shi Jing’s One Autumn Stroke sword intent.

This sword intent is capable of killing any Qi-Refinement Cultivator, perhaps even Early-Foundation Establishment cultivator with ease.

He hope that this one strike would be lifesaving in time of need.

The reason for his action is an act of repayment. Spending time with Xiao Yu has allowed him to gain some useful insight toward his own understanding of dao.

The other reason is because he is curious. To him, this is just a small gesture, but how great can a wave form from just one small gesture?

After doing all of this, Shi Jing returned back to his youthful appearance. The wrinkles on his face disappeared and he wore a pristine black and white robe.

As he leaped outside the village, he headed toward the Dark Forgotten Forest with great speed, as though he was being chased by an invisible enemy.

Occasionally, his golden pupil would lit up unnoticeably.

During this week long journey, Shi Jing would spot several villages, but he didn’t’ stop at all.

’I have a feeling I’m being followed... If my guess is correct, then this is Elder Wang!’

Back then, Shi Jing being accused of being connected to the Sword Demon inheritance was beyond what he had predicted during the inner court competition.

Right after the competition, Shi Jing immediately entered seclusion without interacting with anyone.

However, the truth was far from this.

In fact, Shi Jing would occasionally leave his cultivation cave without being detected using his ghostly concealment. His goal was to learn more about the activity of Elder Wang.

Strangely enough, Elder Wang show an incredible amount of interest at the slightest clues regarding the Sword Demon Inheritance, even more so than the Supreme Elder, Tian Long.

After all this, Shi Jing formed a plan months ago.

This plan is currently in motion.

Three day passes, Shi Jing eyes finally greeted a familiar forest in the past since his transmigration.

"Im back..." He murmured.
