Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1222 - 1222: Problem
Rain absorbed this information, recognizing that the challenges they faced were not merely a consequence of the ongoing power struggles but also a result of this new and potent force that had upset the established norms.
"Everyone loves an underdog… how do you call this new group?" Rain asked.
"It is a bird hard to name them of anything…" Arel said. "Even though I have plenty of time to think of titles for those people aside from the usual undead user, demon user, robot user."
"You know that you just changed a single word from those titles, right?" Rain asked.
"If I have to call them something… I guess calling them the blood kin would be pretty accurate," Arel said.
"Blood kin, huh?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "Since you mentioned them, I thought that they are a bit different from the other enemies… did you try to contact them?"
"No, they are a bit different from the others, but they aren't better," Arel explained. "Whenever they defeat another territory leader, they grow stronger because they turn them into their minions."
"That sounds interesting… even though they only arrived two decades ago, they can do this much?" Rain asked. "They might not be underdogs, actually."
"What do you want to do with that kind of information?" Elisabetha asked.
"Nothing, I just want to wait for the others and prepare to fight the enemies around while we look for the exit," Rain said. "Killing them might be difficult, but we will pull it off. I think that sparring them will be a better option, though."
Elisabetha observed Rain's forearm guard, and a knowing expression crossed her face as she understood his thoughts. The prospect of turning the defeated territory leaders into relics seemed to be the most strategic and optimal move. These leaders, presumed to be a level or two above the king, held the potential to significantly enhance their power and knowledge.
"Considering their strength and the unique abilities they possess, turning them into relics is indeed a wise approach," Elisabetha said. "Their powers could provide us with valuable insights and capabilities, making us more formidable in this challenging environment. Eventually, with Sakaki's help, they could help on the creation of new paths too."
Rain nodded in agreement, acknowledging the potential benefits of converting the conquered leaders into relics. It was a strategic move that aligned with their goal of not only surviving in this lawless land but also gaining the upper hand against the formidable adversaries they would inevitably face and the rulers of the prison.
"Sakaki and Seara will come on the third group after Terra's group, and then we will be able to study the king's abilities," Rain said. "Until then, we wait and regroup with the others."
"I can help you with that. The more people here, the merrier," Arel said. "It is quite refreshing to see reasonable people, after all."
"And in exchange, you have the chance to hear more about our history. Is that truly enough for you?" Rain asked.
"Of course, if anything happens to you all, I will be sure to pass to the future generations about your species," Arel said. "Well, sorry if this sounds like I'm killing you off already. I will just say that this already happened before."
"I guess people crazy enough to accept your help would be too naive to survive the enemies here," Rain said and then shrugged. "We are off to a very good start."
In the end, Rain decided to take a half nap while he waited a couple of hours… he still could remain alert while resting his body, and the others were awaken, so he wans't that worried. When exactly one day had passed since they arrived, he immediately got up and prepared to move.
"It seems that another battle has already started between the demon king and the robot master, but there are no signs of your friends yet," Arel said. "This could be a problem. I need a diversion to teleport them, but the diversion only works when they are from a certain distance from the enemies."
"... I will use Telepathy on them when they arrive and tell them to run away," Rain said. "If they try hard enough, they will be able to outrun those guys."
"That should be enough, then," Arel said.
"How did you learn your Teleport technique?" Rain asked.
"Hmm… that is a tough question," Arel said. "If I teach you and you mess up, the administrators will eventually change the rules here and prevent even me from using that technique. That would be a problem, even for me."
Rain sighed… that was a convenient excuse, but it made sense, so he couldn't complain.
It became obvious to Rain that Arel had developed her teleportation technique by mimicking the system of the prison. The distinct red tunnel they had witnessed was a result of Arel's modifications, enabling her to escape the radar of the administrators.
This revelation prompted Rain to recognize the need for caution; if he were to adopt and adapt this teleportation method, he would have to meticulously study and develop his own version. The goal was clear: avoid having his newfound technique sealed by the enemies within the prison.
However, he understood that such a task would demand considerable time and effort, adding another issue of complexity to the challenges in that situation.
"They are here," Arel said.
Rain immediately used Telepathy and he felt Sealyn's presence… very, very far away… like millions of kilometers away… just how much power was Arel's technique and how big was that planet? Rain couldn't tell, but that was a problem for another time.
"Sealyn, if you hear me, respond," Rain said. "Run to the mountains. We will bring you to a safer location. Don't engage in combat."
"That is a bit late, Dad," Sealyn said.
Rain groaned in annoyance and impatience, but soon, he had an idea of what he should do. He already had prepared for that, after all. He gave up temporarily on his powers…
