Chapter 597: Chapter 4 Absolute Blast_3
"Are you interested in joining the swimming team?" The bald coach was growing more fond of Tang Zheng by the minute. If given a bit of training, this guy could definitely become a world champion.
"Let’s go another round, I didn’t use my full strength just now." Tu Jinxin swam back and bellowed, unable to accept the previous outcome. He thought Tang Zheng had just been lucky, after all, he had been leading the whole time.
"You’re shameless, aren’t you?" Even An Xiuru thought that Tang Zheng had just won by sheer luck.
"Sure, but you need to drink five mouthfuls of pool water first!" Tang Zheng grinned at Tu Jinxin, showing no dissatisfaction; he was quite a gentleman.
Tu Jinxin struggled. As a member of the swimming team, he had swallowed pool water before. But it was a different story doing it in front of a crowd - too humiliating.
"Don’t drink if you don’t want to, defeated competitor." Tang Zheng was about to leave, "Oh, remember our bet. Apologize and then get out of the swimming team."
"Fine, I’ll drink. But the bet stands for the next round." Tu Jinxin had made up his mind. The citizens immediately started to egg Tang Zheng on, urging him to agree.
"Sure, go ahead."
Grinding his teeth, Tu Jinxin shot Tang Zheng a glare, jumped into the pool, scooped up some water with his hands and sucked it into his mouth. Seeing this, the citizens clapped and cheered.
"Satisfied? Let’s get on with it." Tu Jinxin prepared once again; he was more than eager to beat Tang Zheng now.
"Hehe, as you wish," Tang Zheng was indifferent.
The gun fired. This time, Tang Zheng’s dive was two lines quicker than Tu Jinxin’s, instantly gaining some distance. However, that was quickly nullified by Tu Jinxin’s all-out effort and then surpassed by three meters. Tang Zheng was once again the pursuer.
Just a little bit more,
Just a little bit more,
Keep going,
The whole swimming hall was suddenly silent, apart from the sound of the two men splashing into the water, no other sound could be heard. Everyone was fixed on Tang Zheng chasing, cheering for him in their hearts. They couldn’t understand why, but watching him slowly catching up stirred up long-lost emotions and filled their chests with fiery passion.
Ding ding - the two almost simultaneous whistles caught everyone’s attention as they looked towards the temporary referee.
"1 minute 49 seconds 73, the challenger wins."
When the referee announced Tang Zheng’s victory, the citizens began to cheer. The bald coach could hardly contain his excitement. He knew how difficult it was for an athlete to shave even a fraction of a second off their personal best after they reached their peak.
"This guy is a genius." The female coach was marveling at Tang Zheng’s physique.
"No way, one more time." Tu Jinxin glared at Tang Zheng with bloodshot eyes, full of animosity. He didn’t believe that was his full potential; it was undoubtedly due to his emotions being affected. As long as he calmed down, he could definitely defeat Tang Zheng.
"Alright, drink up." Tang Zheng’s reply was as concise as ever.
Without hesitation, Tu Jinxin drank again. He didn’t care about the onlooking citizens anymore. All he wanted to do was beat Tang Zheng, otherwise, he would be haunted by this for his entire life.
"Third round, get ready."
The gunshot sounded again. This time, it was Tu Jinxin who was a line faster. Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the exciting chase from behind began all over again, with deafening cheers echoing all around.
"1 minute 49 seconds 36, the challenger wins."
"Again," without waiting for Tang Zheng to say anything, Tu Jinxin glared viciously at Tang Zheng, taking a swig of the pool water directly. But he inhaled too sharply, choking himself and sending him into a fit of coughing.
"Did I say we were going again?" Tang Zheng looked at Tu Jinxin, clearly amused. The latter almost choked on his rage.
"You’re an athlete, you can definitely handle a fourth round. Isn’t anything less taking advantage?"
"Yeah, let’s take a break before starting again."
The citizens were jeering, aiming their ridicule at Tu Jinxin.
"Shut up, this kid looks healthier than a cow. Did you see him panting?" Tu Jinxin almost broke into a torrent of abuse. But after seeing Tang Zheng unaffected, he decided to take a break and calm himself down. He had indeed lost his cool earlier.
"Are you good to go?" The bald coach stared at Tang Zheng as if he had discovered treasure and swore that he would recruit him at any cost.
"No problem."
Both men returned to the pool edge, readying their stances.
"Fourth round, get ready."
When the starting gun went off, Tang Zheng shot into the water like an arrow, and then furiously started swimming, going full throttle.
Though the citizens were hoping for another thrilling comeback, Tang Zheng didn’t give the seeded player any opportunity at all. After diving in, like a tuna, he swiftly started to swim, breaking through the waves and charging forward relentlessly.
"Holy crap, is this guy even human?" A group of athletes almost dropped their jaws in astonishment.
Amidst the rhythmically quick splashing, the whole swimming hall fell completely silent. Like a savage shark, Tang Zheng was not the little tuna anymore. His arms were like sails filled with blistering wind, powerful and robust. Every time he moved his body, a large splash of water would be stirred up.
Three meters,
Five meters,
Eight meters,
Tu Jinxin was left far behind. Now, even a fool could tell that Tang Zheng had been fooling with him in the previous three rounds. His extraordinary strength was clearly well beyond his own.
There was no whistle, there were no cheers, just pairs of wide-open eyes and stunned faces.
"Hey, you forgot to time it." Tang Zheng teased the temporary referee a bit and swam back. When he passed by Tu Jinxin, he noticed the frustration and anger on his face. Tang Zheng was sure that he was probably fuming.
"No, it’s not possible, I can’t lose. You must have used a stimulant!" Seeing Tang Zheng nonchalantly swim past him, and the seven meters left to the end, Tu Jinxin couldn’t hold back anymore – he screamed.
"Idiot, who roams around with stimulants on them? Is your brain filled with water or what?" One of the citizens shouted, setting off a round of laughter.
Tu Jinxin’s face turned the colour of a pig liver.
"Genius, you’re definitely a genius." The bald coach handed a towel over and started to dry Tang Zheng himself, "Although we didn’t record that time, it was almost a world record. You could definitely make the top three."
The bald coach was almost incoherent. To hell with Tu Jinxin - even with more training, he would only be Olympics level at most. But Tang Zheng in front of him could definitely win a gold medal.
