Chapter 581: Chapter 49 Successive Deaths in the Temple (Third Watch, 10,000 words) _2

Chu Baichuan couldn’t find a shortcut, so he had to brute force his way through by knocking down the four stone statues.

Hu Xiaoyan was in a tragic situation. If she had remained calm and thought it through, following Chu Baichuan, she wouldn’t have had to die.

Inside the temple were pathways constructed from overlapping bricks, leading to various tombs. As soon as they stepped in, they felt a wave of coolness, and the lighting was quite good, giving no sense of damp and darkness.

The newbies had considered slowing down and wait for Tang Zheng to kill the queen before hurrying, but who could guarantee that there were no monsters cutting them off from behind? In this dangerous environment, it was still safer to stay with the good group leader.

Yu Manli was also urging them to run faster.

"Take the right side, the tomb of the Second Pharaoh is in the northwest corner." Despite having the blueprint of the temple drawn by Aima on his back, Tang Zheng still had to stop and decipher the route without a guide, which wasted too much time.

Aima leaned against the wall, gasping for breath, and the entire lung was burning with pain. If it wasn’t for the agility and stamina boost from Daylily’s halo, she would have collapsed long ago. However, it could only last for five minutes and it would take thirty minutes after that for Aima to use it again.

"Keep going." Tang Zheng drew his Dragonbone Curved Knife, marked an arrow on the wall, and continued the sprint. Approximately a hundred meters later, he entered a burial chamber.

"Profaners, leave the holy land!" The ones who scolded Tang Zheng were the six handmaidens of the queen. They were holding curved knives in their right hands. The handles were inlaid with a lot of gold and jewels and the blade was sharp, gleaming with a silver line in the somewhat dim burial chamber.

In their left hands, they held a cobra, its body smeared with gold powder, depicting various strange priestly patterns. The serpent was alive and its peanut-sized eyes stared at Tang Zheng, while its forked venomous tongue kept sticking out, hissing.

Tang Zheng made the first move, without replying, he pulled out a Terminator and sprayed bullets at them. The bullet shells flew and left pockmarked bullet holes on the stone wall.

"Profaners, your souls shall eternally fall into hell." The six handmaidens cursed in unison, bursts of black halos exploded from their bodies, enveloping the entire burial chamber, the bullets had no effect, they directly passed through their bodies.

As soon as Tang Zheng was struck by the black halo, he immediately felt a wave of dizziness and nausea, his vitality was rapidly leaking away, even his skin was dehydrating and shriveling.

"It’s a curse." Qin Yan reminded loudly, taking a sip of the potion, and feeding Aima a sip too.

While drinking the potion, Tang Zheng pulled out the Demon Slaying Holy Flame and fired crazily.

The six handmaidens were dressed in ancient Egyptian royal clothing, wearing brassieres made of thumb-sized pure gold leaves, which only covered a small portion of their breasts, exposing their wheat-colored skin. As their bodies were smeared with olive oil symbolizing auspiciousness and luck, they appeared lustrous. Their lower halves were clad in linen triangle panties, just covering their privates, embroidered with various pure gold ornaments.

From their necks down to their thighs, they also had tattoos of a venomous cobra.

Tang Zheng showed no mercy, shooting a handmaid in the lower abdomen, causing her to bleed profusely.

The six handmaidens yelled in unison, extended their left hands and their cobras shot out towards Tang Zheng, while they split into two groups to pounce on Tang Zheng and Aima.

Dantai jumped out with his Damascus curved knife in hand, blocking in front of Aima.

Tang Zheng opened fire and blew up a cobra. Amidst the mist of blood, he launched gun forward and knocked another off, then his left hand’s Snow Aide yanked fiercely, splitting a snake in two.

Meiqin kept watch behind, while Lu Fan took out sand from his wristwatch, making it spread out quietly on the ground like flowing water, and once the snakes fell on the ground, they were entangled by the sand-made ropes and not able to break free.

The handmaidens’ breasts were violently jiggling due to their intense movements, and the olive oil smeared on them was even flinging off, extremely tempting. However, the faces of Tang Zheng and Dantai were as cold as ice, not swayed at all. Dantai cut off one handmaid’s right arm, while Tang Zheng stabbed another’s lower abdomen, and then gave it a whirl, followed by a horizontal slash, the unfortunate maid’s waist cleaved open in an instant, with blood splattering.

Upon seeing the situation unfold, Yu Manli and Chen Hong, who had been following from behind, were taken aback. Life and death truly waited for no one in moments of hesitation. Otherwise, there would not be even an opportunity to regret.

When there was enough sand in the burial chamber, Lu Fan immediately released his abilities. Large hands materialized from the sand, gripping the ankles of each maid, restricting their movement. Tang Zheng and Dantai did not miss this opportunity, and killed them instantly.

All six maids beheaded, their hearts pierced, lay on the ground as their blood seeped out beneath them. Apart from Xu Liangmao and Cai Nan, who each got a case of goosebumps, no one even looked back at them.

"Which way should we go next?" asked Tang Zheng, looking at the three passages in the burial chamber. He asked Aima for directions.

"The middle one."

The group set off immediately. However, as they were passing by the six corpses in the middle of the burial chamber, a black light flashed out from the maid’s bodies. Their snake tattoos came alive, wriggling out from the skin, attacking the closest enemies.

Dantai and Tang Zheng who were at the front were helpless as Qin Yan stepped in front of Aima. The two snake tattoos charged towards her, biting directly at her neck and shoulder. Their venomous fangs pierced the protective clothing, scratching the skin and injected venom.

Qin Yan activated her ability. The bitten area softened and swirled like jelly, barely having any reaction to the venom. After it solidified, the venom was expelled but some residue still remained, causing her head to spin.

In a split second, Pang Meiqin’s neural response speed burst forth, narrowly avoiding the attack. As a result, the unfortunate Cai Nan, who was behind her, watched in horror as the snake tattoo shot directly at her face. The poisonous snake opened its venomous fangs and bit her lips. She had the chance to only let out a single scream before slumping onto the ground from the injected venom.

Realizing that he couldn’t dodge, Lu Fan swiftly raised his right hand to block his face. As the snake came biting, he immediately grabbed its tail and ripped it off. He then begun whipping it onto the ground as if it was a snake itself.

Yu Manli adopted the same approach. She used her left hand to block and then, with both her hands grabbed the poisonous tongue. She used brute force to tear it in half.

Xu Liangmao tried to dodge, but his clothes were caught by Chen Hong. He failed to dodge and thus served as her human shield.

Dantai and Tang Zheng rushed back. In a few swift moves, they beheaded the snake tattoos. Yu Manli and Xu Liangmao were not as well-prepared; their protective clothing compromised. They were poisoned and laid paralyzed on the ground. As for Cai Nan, she foamed at the mouth, eyes rolling into the back of her head as she clutched her throat, gasping for air intermittently. This venom could induce suffocation.

"The queen’s methods are too treacherous." Lu Fan couldn’t help the shudder that ran down his spine. If Qin Yan had been any slower, Aima would certainty have died.

They fed a curse-removal potion to the poisoned people, but it had no effect. As Tang Zheng was summoning a daylily, preparing to neutralize the poison, he heard Lu Fan yell a warning about a possible explosion. He then dove towards Aima. At the same time, a wall of sand rose up as if to bury the six decaying bodies.

Without questioning Lu Fan, Tang Zheng instinctively dived towards Aima. Protecting her was his topmost priority even if it meant putting himself in harm’s way, otherwise it would be game over. Just as he was about to turn back to see what was happening, the bodies of the six maids started to swell, before promptly exploding.

Simultaneous explosions echoed as maid’s bodies blew apart after snake tattoos flew away. The residues deactivated the self-explosion prohibition. After a flash of black light, they burst open. Blood and flesh splattered, leaving six groups of black mist that began to spread inside the burial chamber.

The members of the Trojan Squad were immediately knocked aside by the blast, losing consciousness, vomiting blood.

"Hold your breath and leave." As the group leader, Tang Zheng gave the orders. As soon as he inhaled the black gas into his nostrils, he noticed that the skin on his arm shriveled up. Without any delay, he grabbed Aima with one hand and Lu Fan with the other, and sprinted towards the central passageway, with Qin Yan right behind them, chugging down a bottle of curse-removal potion.

Chu Baichuan, who had come by following the marker, was taken aback on witnessing this sight and backed away without any further pursuit.

"Where is Cai Nan?" While giving Aima a mouthful of the potion and handing the bottle to someone else, Tang Zheng noticed that they were short of one person. Cai Nan was the most severely poisoned and certainly had no way of moving, she must have been trapped in there.

"Damn! This method is beyond treacherous, it’s truly vile." Even the usually silent Dantai couldn’t help but curse out loud. The maids didn’t even stop trying to cause harm even in death. The average person, after escaping from the snake tattoos, would certainly let their guard down. The timing of her explosion was impeccable, and even if one wasn’t killed in the explosion, the poisonous mist was sure to take their lives. (To be continued.
