Chapter 557: Chapter 30 Little Lolita’s Main Battlefield
The pure gold cobra in the mummy’s hand seemed to come alive, as if imbued with life, lunging out like an electrified crossbow arrow as the man in charge bent over it. Its mouth wide open, it spat out its tongue with a hissing sound and bit viciously into his neck.
The man in charge gasped, stumbled backwards, and reached to grasp the cobra. But before his hand could even touch it, his body stiffened, like he was poisoned. Then his vitality seemed to drain away, visibly ageing, his skin withering, his hair falling. He had turned into a living mummy.
Hiss. The crowd of spectators collectively drew in a chilling breath, backed away a few steps, their eyes wide with terror, staring incredulously at the scene.
Hiss. The cobra left the mummified figure and slithered back onto the mummy, biting into its neck, likely nourishing it with the life essence it had taken.
The crowd scattered chaotically, a few unlucky ones who weren’t quick enough were knocked down and trampled over, leaving the scene in utter disarray.
"Security." Mai Lu pulled out the handgun at his waist, signaling for the guards to maintain order whilst pushing through the crowd towards the stone coffin.
Bang bang. He had just fired two shots at the pure gold cobra when the the mummified figure which had been lying on the ground with a vacant stare suddenly sprang up and viciously flung itself at him, apparently in an attempt to guard its master’s revival.
Seeing this horrifying scene, the whole place erupted into chaos. The workers hired to dig up the tomb were all fleeing.
"Protect Jasons and Aima." Tang Zheng drew his Demon Slaying Holy Flame and rushed at Mai Lu. They couldn’t let this guy, who knew about the golden scarab, die.
Tang Zheng fired his gun, and the golden flames shot out from the weapon, instantly shredding the mummy’s head to pieces. However, the creature didn’t die. Even without its head, the lower half of the body continued on its trajectory, slamming Mai Lu to the ground.
Lu Fan released his ability. Two ropes made of compacted sand shot up from the ground, circling around the corpse’s ankles and tearing it off balance, with two more hauling Mai Lu away from the corpse.
Tang Zheng fired again, turning the once ambitious man into a pile of flesh.
"Move, take cover." Tang Zheng fired at the mummy in the coffin. The creature was as nimble as a cheetah, first it sprung vertically five meters into the air, then plummeted like a heavy bomb towards Tang Zheng.
Boom, the surroundings of the tomb echoed with the tremors of an earthquake, sand dust swirling, leaving a five meters deep pit under the mummy’s feet.
Whizz, the pure gold cobra lanced towards a worker, silencing his cries for help with a savage bite, then creating a new mummy out of him before pouncing onto the next closest target, generating new undead soldiers for its master.
The security guards started shooting at the mummy and the cobra, and some of them targeted the bandaged mummy.
"Let’s get out of here, quickly." Hu Xiaoyan was scared and tugged at Qin Yan’s sleeve. With the crowd thinning continuously, the newbies were falling back and taking cover behind the Conquerors.
The mummy raised its head and let out a bellow, causing the ground to start shaking again. After a few seconds, it seemed like the tomb was on the verge of collapse. The massive stone pillars were trembling and dust particles kept falling.
Boom, just as everyone had managed to run less than twenty meters away, hoards of black scarabs crawled out from the pit leading to the tomb. They were all over the place, forming a three-meter high surging ’wave’, it washed away everything nearby.
A few workers who were lagging behind were immediately devoured. And the security guards and soldiers who were shooting at them became the primary targets. The beetles were advancing in a tidal wave; their sheer number produced a skin-crawling rustling sound as they moved.
The newbies turned pale at the sight of the fist-sized scarabs. Jasons wasn’t faring much better and started running wildly.
Qin Yan and the others began to fire, but the regular bullets could only kill a dozen or so beetles — it was like trying to put out a fire with a cup of water. And using the Thunderstorm rifle was ineffective on them.
One of the rules of the Trojan Horse Game was that in spirit-type games, regular ammunition could also harm spirits.
As he saw a layer of beetles crawling past his feet, Tang Zheng was also forced to retreat. The bandaged mummy followed him persistently. He murmured under his breath. After having jumped out a dozen meters with a few bounces, he turned around abruptly, drew out the Undamaged Ultimate, and started to fire at it.
The bandaged mummy was immediately knocked to the ground, but it wasn’t dead.
"To my side." Lu Fan shouted, stamped his right foot onto the ground, releasing his ability. A wall of sand two meters thick rose up from the ground with a rumble. It appeared five meters in front of Little Lolita, acting like a dam, blocking the scarabs.
"Hmph, the desert is my battlefield!" With a wave of her small, fair hand, Little Lolita commanded the sand on the ground to swirl around and rise, just like air convection current, forming four tornado pillars and smashed into the swarm of scarabs. The enormous impact instantly crushed the beetles into a pulp, splattering their juices everywhere.
A dust cloud arose as the sand pillars disintegrated, covering everything. Sand and dust plumed, blocking the sky. Then, just like quicksand, it completely swallowed up a large group of scarabs. Under her control, it hardened like concrete, completely entrapping them.
This massive attack visibly shocked the newbies, even the Chu Hometown couple and Dantai were taken aback. They knew that Little Lolita was strong, but they didn’t expect her to be this powerful.
"Hmph, peasants, worship me!" Lu Fan raised her chin slightly, a bit smug as she mimicked a line from an animation, declaring herself proudly.
Thwack, Tang Zheng lightly tapped her on the head. The little Lolita immediately clutched her head, pouting and looking at him unhappily.
"Do you want to use up all your life energy? Just dig a pit and bury them, why make it so complicated?" Tang Zheng ruffled Lu Fan’s hair, looked at the bandage-wrapped mummy that was slaughtering the workers, and turned back to ask, "Who’s going to take care of it?"
"I’ll do it!" Chu Bai Chuan broke his silence, and Xu Biyun also indicated that she would join the fight. Tang Zheng was satisfied and dissuaded Dantai, "You’d better not, mental impact isn’t suitable for this fight."
Dantai was frustrated, he really didn’t have a way to deal with spirit-type monsters.
"Fanfan, help restrain the mummy." Of course, Tang Zheng wouldn’t let just the two of them go all out. Little Lolita’s sand rope binding technique was absolutely proficient, it was clear that she had trained it in private.
One afteranother, ropes made of sand whizzed out from the ground like octopus tentacles, wrapping around the bandage-wrapped mummy. Although it was agile, it couldn’t get away from the net formed by the ropes that covered the sky and sun.
The bandage-wrapped mummy was restrained and immediately started to struggle. It almost broke free, breaking the sand ropes in pieces, but little Lolita quickly condensed more sand ropes and tightly bound it.
"Phew, mission accomplished!" The little Lolita took a deep breath, stealthily wiped the sweat from her forehead, and a wave of exhaustion began to spread throughout her body. This kind of widespread use of her power consumed the most life energy, and she couldn’t hold on for much longer.
"Rest for a while!" Tang Zheng patted Lu Fan’s head. Without his command, Chu Baichuan had already rushed forward and grabbed the mummy’s head without caring about the dirt.
"Die!" With Chu Bai Chuan’s roar, an explosion burst from his palm, enveloping the mummy’s head. It was like it’d been swept by a flamethrower, and the hot shock wave blew away the sand.
Boom, boom, boom, three fire dragons shot out in a row, and the high temperature even melted the nearby sand.
Xu Biyun, standing not far away with her rifle, had already summoned the sand golem to stand by. The moment Chu Bai Chuan retreated, the golem clenched its fists above its head and then hammered down heavily, smashing the mummy’s body, which had already been baked crisp by the high temperature, to the ground.
After tens of rounds of hammering, the bandage-wrapped mummy was completely blasted into pieces.
Chu Bai Chuan went over to check the war results. Suddenly, a pure gold cobra slithered out from the sand and shot towards his neck. Ai Yixin let out a scream, covering her mouth in surprise.
Bang, bang, Tang Zheng, the Old Soldier, and Dantai’s muzzles smoking, accurately hitting the cobra and flipping it over. However, only Tang Zheng’s Demon Slaying Holy Flame achieved results, blasting it into two segments.
"What a pity, the gun is too shabby." The Old Soldier shouldered his rifle, pondering about getting a good spiritual attack firearm. Otherwise, dealing with this type of monster would be too difficult.
Except for the unlucky ones who died, there wasn’t even a bird left around the tomb. Mai Lu’s legs were shaking, and he looked at Tang Zheng’s group in disbelief.
"Is this the power of the gods?"
George and the soldiers were also staring at this group of Easterners, because after all, superpowers are quite rare.
"It’s my power." Little Lolita proudly snapped her fingers, the sand formed an arm and grabbed Mai Lu’s calf, "Tell me where the Golden Scarab is, or else you’ll be buried underground."
"Is that the arrival of the Pharaoh?" Mai Lu’s nerves were a bit short-circuited, and he pointed tremblingly at the remains of the bandage-wrapped mummy, "If you kill it, will there be a punishment?"
Mai Lu had been a tomb raider for so many years; originally, he wasn’t afraid of any supernatural stuff. But when he saw it unleash its divine power and turn the person in charge into a mummy, he was terrified if he wasn’t.
"Yes, so this time we’re here to seal them!" Little Lolita said solemnly, pretending to be serious, "Queen Nefertari wants to revive her king and establish a new empire, and we must stop all this. Otherwise, the whole of Egypt will be walking mummies, and humans will become slaves."
Lu Fan casually made up a story. After she finished, she smacked her lips, feeling pretty good, not realizing she had the potential to make up stories.
"Twenty million dollars, I’ll give you the scarab," Mai Lu didn’t want to stay any longer. Whether the Eastern girl was telling the truth or not, he planned to leave Egypt and make a living in America after getting this money. He heard that women there are very open, they sunbathe on the beach without swimsuits.
"Greedy ghost!" Victoria rolled her eyes, even at this time, this guy didn’t forget to lower the price.
"Twenty million, can’t be less." Mai Lu didn’t want to clean up the mess; he just left directly.
"I’ll give you twenty-five million, but you have to accompany me to find the Tomb of Ramses II." Jasons wanted a professional guide. Since he could find the Golden Scarab, he must know a lot about tombs.
Mai Lu hesitated; this was a big sum of money. (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to come to qidian.com to vote for it. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
