Chapter 551: Chapter 25 Four Women
Victoria glared at Tang Zheng, which suddenly improved her mood a lot.
The whimsical look she gave him amused Tang Zheng, and he wondered what her reaction would be if he pulled the blanket off her.
"Help me break the curse." Victoria’s voice softened, not only because she felt like vomiting her lungs out but also because of the foul smell that filled the tent, plus the embarrassment of a man seeing her in her underwear was too much for her to handle.
"Why should I?" Tang Zheng asked, securing that she’s okay, he wanted to leave. He had a lot of things to do.
"You..." Victoria didn’t expect such an answer, and seeing Tang Zheng wants to leave in a nonchalant manner made her so angry that she tried to stop him, ended up spinning her ankle and fell towards him. But seeing her vomit on Tang Zheng’s body made Victoria laugh with pleasure.
"I’m scared of you." Tang Zheng felt embarrassed to stay and summoned the Priest to uncured her curse, then hurriedly left.
The soldiers and workers were already surrounding Jasons’ tent, demanding an explanation but then had to bend over and vomit after shouting a few sentences.
"Calm down, there will be a way to fix this." Jason didn’t want to tell them that Tang Zheng can break the curse instantly for selfish reasons.
The exploration team was in a catch-22 situation, unable to reach a consensus till noon after being attacked by a monster and warned by a note.
When the emotions of Jason and others were stable and they were scared to retreat, some high rewards and the statements about needing golden beetles to cure the curse persuaded them to set off again.
The exploration team didn’t have any doubts because Tang Zheng showed them the Book of the Undead.
"Will they die?" asked Emma, sitting in the truck, watching the silent and worried looks on the faces of people in the fleet.
"Most likely, a pity that they have no way out," said Pang Meiqin, who was driving the car. She was chewing gum, holding a DV in one hand, and filming the desert scenery outside.
Tang Zheng sat in the back, guiding Emma how to use firearms. There were piles of weapons and ammunition on the co-driver seat and inside the car, enough for a local battle.
After the monster attack incident, Tang Zheng still felt that it would be safest to keep Emma with him at all times.
Being able to occupy two pickup trucks, the newcomers naturally didn’t have this privilege and had to squeeze into the truck with the ordinary workers. This kept the mature women and the hostesses complaining as they’d never suffered in this way before.
"Instead of this, might as well let them go back," Emma hesitated and asked, "Can’t you remove their curse?"
"Sorry, there are too many of them. It will drain my strength to a level where I won’t be capable of fighting." Except for this, Tang Zheng cannot tell Emma that he needs cannon fodder and these people are used to distract the mummies.
Emma fell silent. She felt pressured knowing that for the sake of returning the crown, more than a hundred lives will be lost.
"Don’t worry, once we find the golden scarab, we can break the curse, and by then, let them go," said Tang Zheng to ease her mind. "Our goal is the Abu Simbel Temple in Aswan, the real hardships are still to come."
"Thank you for helping me," Emma grabbed Tang Zheng’s hand. Thinking how he’s been carrying everything since the time they met, she felt relieved.
Pang Meiqin glanced at the rear view mirror and sped up a bit.
The carriage had gone silent, Emma didn’t let go of Tang Zheng’s hand while he was leaning on the seat back and fell asleep, and gradually, an intimate atmosphere started to hover over.
Nothing dangerous happened for one and a half days. The fleet safely entered the Getala Depression. They camped next to a mini oasis. They lit up a campfire, but the camping ground’s atmosphere was dreary, none could smile after getting cursed.
It was time for Tang Zheng’s patrol at midnight. He carried a rifle on his back, stepped out of the tent, did a round around the camping area, and then lay on the roof of the pickup truck, looking at the Orion in the night sky.
"What are you thinking?" Pang Meiqin suddenly appeared beside him, nuzzling into his side with a ghostly smile. "It’s such a long time since we chat."
Tang Zheng didn’t respond. Pang Meiqin climbed into the carriage, shoved his shoulder, and said, "Move over."
"There’s no space." Tang Zheng moved the muzzle of his gun away to avoid accidentally injuring her.
"Forget it." Pang Meiqin leaned against the roof of the carriage and laughed, "Did you start feeling a bit lost and uncomfortable because I haven’t been clinging to you lately since you think I can protect myself now?"
"No." Tang Zheng admitted honestly, "You call what you do self-protection? It’s more like running away. How many times have you violated my orders? If it weren’t for the fact that we all entered the game at the same period, I would definitely not care about your life or death."
"Ha, you speak like you can determine my life and death." Pang Meiqin grabbed a sheet of iron, exerted all her strength, and surprisingly left a dent with a creak, "I don’t have a seed ability, but continuous use of the seed can continuously increase physical fitness."
"I don’t care."
"You’re not angry? Heh, stop pretending. I could hear the frustration in your voice." Pang Meiqin suddenly bent her head down and kissed Tang Zheng’s cheek. Then, as she touched his face, she complained, "I was just fooling you earlier. I’m such a trash. Despite having been through six more rounds than Chu Baichuan, I still can’t beat him. Isn’t that infuriating?"
"The disparity in seed abilities." Tang Zheng recalled that Ai Yixin seemed to have never activated her ability, and had used all of her seeds to exchange for props useful for survival.
"You look down on me because I would do anything to survive, even becoming your female slave would be no problem. Would you like to try some heavy tastes? I’ve learned quite a few techniques from island country movies." Pang Meiqin hummed, her eyes slightly moist. Fearing that Tang Zheng would see it, she immediately lowered her head.
Tang Zheng remained silent.
Pang Meiqin’s red lips moved slightly, but in the end, she didn’t say anything. She jumped down from the carriage and left with heavy thoughts. She knew she was the least popular one in the team. The only reason the others did not quarrel with her was because of Tang Zheng’s face. Honestly, aboard Bohemian, she felt like crying out of grievance when she saw Dantai throw the stolen seeds to Xu Biyun. It was a flagrant slap in the face.
"I want to survive, what’s wrong with that? In this survival of the fittest environment, isn’t it all about using all resources to survive? It doesn’t matter if you guys look down on me, I just need to survive, that’s right, survive strongly." Pang Meiqin’s eyes filled with tears, but she struggled, refusing to let them fall.
Watching those ants crawling in the sand for food, Pang Meiqin knew she could not die. Otherwise, there would definitely be no chance of reincarnation. She wasn’t Qin Yan, Lu Fan, or an old soldier, nor was she Li Xinlan.
"Meiqin." Tang Zheng stood next to the pickup, unsure of what to say. Roughly twenty meters away was Pang Meiqin’s desolate and lonely figure. The pang of regret and unease, the bitterness of agony and struggle... In the face of all the cruelty of the Trojan Horse Game, she had to resist alone.
"What is it? Do you want to do it? Let me tell you, I’m not interested anymore." Pang Meiqin turned her head, scoffed at Tang Zheng, wanted to hide her loss of control, but then two seeds were thrown over and fell at her feet.
Pang Meiqin didn’t feel happy looking at those two jade stones with halos and a dreamy golden color for the first time, instead, they felt like a hot potato. But she still picked them up.
"Yes, this is me, isn’t it just me unscrupulously doing everything to survive!" Pang Meiqin picked them up, stuffed them into her pocket, and turned away. Once she saw the figure leaning in the shadows of the pickup, she couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. They streamed down her face, fell on the dry gravel.
Tang Zheng decided to patrol once more.
"Tang Zheng, what are you doing?" Ruan Feifei came out from under the moonlight, looking at Tang Zheng with a smile on her face.
"Patrol!" Tang Zheng said without expression.
"Hehe." Ruan Feifei giggled, covering her mouth. She knew how to seduce men, knew how to create an ambiguous atmosphere.
"Are you planning to take my night watch shift?" Tang Zheng furrowed his brows slightly.
"Tang Zheng, thank you for your seeds. Although you slapped me four times, I don’t resent you." Ruan Feifei touched her cheek and found a topic to start a conversation. She wanted to bridge the gap between them.
"Are you trying to get rid of the curse?" Tang Zheng asked. Without sniffing, he could still smell the rotten flesh odor coming from Ruan Feifei after she’d been cursed.
"No, everyone in the camp stinks. What can I fear? Isn’t it just losing face?" Ruan Feifei showed her determination, "You promised me, to help me keep watch at night, let me activate the seed ability."
