Chapter 550: Chapter 24: Blow Them All Up
Lu Fan quickly stabilized the panicked camp with his bravery and the promise of bounty, sparking the fighting desire of the foreign soldiers. Just like hungry wolves, they pounced on their enemies. Jasons, who was hiding in the RV, held admiration for Little Lolita.
"Indeed, specialization leads to perfection. I wonder how strong Tang Zheng, who trained such a robust Little Lolita, is?" Victoria watched the Oriental youth, who was driving with one hand and sweeping the rifle with the other, her eyes full of interest.
"This isn’t even a big deal. Our group leader wouldn’t even bother directing this." George, sitting inside the pickup truck, was sullen. He found out that Little Lolita was coping better than him.
"Stand by." Lin Weiguo was too lazy to counterattack. From the attack methods of the armed group, it was clear that they were an unorganized crowd. Without the advantage of surprise attacks, they were unable to breach the camp.
Only Qin Yan and Dantai were calm, holding their rifles, casually lying on the ground, and leisurely adding fuel to the campfire.
Chu Baichuan protected Ai Yixin behind him, his expression serious. He tried to shoot at every point of enemy firepower to kill them and relieve his wife’s danger. The male newbies calmed down, their faces grew flushed as excitement and tension replaced fear. They fired at the enemy pickup trucks, relishing the chase despite missing their targets.
Ruan Feifei and Yu Manli shot Qin Yan a glance, wanting to be as cool as her, but it wasn’t possible. With bullets whizzing in the camp’s airspace, they couldn’t help but be jittery, their chests heaving and fingers trembling.
Tang Zheng dumped the empty ammo clip, discarded his rifle to concentrate on driving, stepped on the gas, and the sturdy and durable pickup truck stirred up dust on the hard sandy road. He didn’t slow down and charged forward like a sharp sword, soon catching up with the pickup trucks of the armed men.
Pop, pop, pop, the large-caliber machine gun sprayed a half-meter-long muzzle flame with bullets triggering a sand pillar. It soon caught up with a pickup truck, creating a chain of deep holes in the metal, bisecting the machine gunner.
The soldiers were thrilled when they saw the top half of a robed man with his intestines trailing being ejected.
Little Lolita’s shooting skills were quite exquisite, as the bullets pursued and killed the driver. The whole windshield was splashed with fresh blood and broken flesh. The uncontrolled pickup truck wobbled and stopped after moving a dozen meters.
Lu Fan turned the gun and aimed at the next target. About twenty seconds later, he probably hit the ammunition box, reducing the pickup truck into a ball of fire.
"Monster." George watched in awe. Even on such a bumpy road, the pickup truck was bound to be jolted, but it didn’t affect Little Lolita at all. Her arms seemed to contain immense power, deftly controlling the heavy machine gun, coupled with perfect instant calculation ability, controlled the trajectory of the bullet to near perfection.
"Just standing steady in a jolting vehicle is no simple task."
"Doesn’t she know fear?" Even professional soldiers would instinctively tense up upon hearing bullets whizzing past them.
"Without a few years of shooting experience and firing hundreds of thousands of bullets, you can’t train such shooting skills."
A hundred experienced soldiers watched in awe, as Lu Fan stood out with a heavy machine gun, suppressing the opponents. The pickup trucks recognized the enemy’s strength, trying their best to avoid him.
In everyone’s eyes, Tang Zheng’s pickup truck was like a shark breaking into a school of sardines. Everywhere it went, pickup trucks scattered because a slight step slower, and they’d be blown up by Lu Fan.
The battle lasted only about ten minutes before the armed men fled.
The destroyed pickup trucks were overturned on the sand, smoking. Little Lolita lost interest in the chase.
"Uncle, stop, let’s check out the spoils of war." Standing in the back of the vehicle, Lu Fan shouted loudly, slapping the roof of the car.
After Tang Zheng stopped the car a few meters away from a scrapped pickup truck, Little Lolita, with her rifle slung behind her, jumped down. First, she cautiously fired a few more shots at the three armed men’s bodies in the carriage, then ran over.
Opening the car door, the blood-soaked driver fell out, stirring up a cloud of dust. Lu Fan quickly dodged, then searched their pockets.
"A bunch of poor bastards." Only finding a few crumpled Egyptian pounds and six coins, Little Lolita complained discontentedly, shouting, "All yours."
The soldiers watched Little Lolita search bodies and pick up spoils of war proficiently, seemingly not disgusted by the corpses. They were amazed, and as soon as they heard what she said, they cheered. After all, even a mosquito is meat.
Driving the pickup truck back to the camp, the combination of Lu Fan and Tang Zheng was greeted with enthusiastic cheers by the workers. Little Lolita was beaming, jumping into Tang Zheng’s arms, hugging his neck, giving him a smacker, and then waving at the hired help.
A lolicon, at this moment, everyone in the camp labeled Tang Zheng as such.
There were over two hundred people in the fleet, aside from the one hundred foreign legion soldiers, the rest were high-wage hired workers. Exploring and digging the pyramid can’t all be left to the soldiers, professional skills are needed.
"Tang Zheng, good job." Jasons, along with Victoria, rushed over and said to everyone, "A reward of ten thousand US dollars each, triple for those who fought just now."
There was greater cheering. Hearing workers praise the boss for his wisdom, Jasons was satisfied. He wasn’t short of money, what he needed was to maintain his absolute say in the exploration team.
"Oh no, my snake meat is going to get burnt." Little Lolita suddenly cried out, jumped off of Tang Zheng, taking his hand and pulled him into a jog.
At midnight, Tang Zheng and the others dared not sleep, waiting for the arrival of the punitive force. However, nothing happened until dawn when the small, rotund monsters suddenly attacked.
A swirl of clouds appeared above every tent from which the creatures jumped out, landing on the sleeping faces of human beings. They opened their huge mouths and bit down fiercely.
People awoke in shock, running out of their tents shirtless. They each had four or five monsters clinging onto them, creating a horrifying sight. Some soldiers tried to pull the monsters off forcibly, but it resulted in tearing off small patches of their own skin, causing blood to spurt out.
Bang, bang! George pulled out his handgun and fired at the creatures. Immediately, the foul dark liquid sprayed everywhere. The liquid seemed to have corrosive properties, causing severe burns on their skin.
The monsters began to emit sharp noises that made everyone dizzy and nauseous. Some, with weaker constitution, knelt on the ground and started vomiting.
The entire campsite was completely overwhelmed by the unendurable stench and pervasive fear.
At the instant the monsters attacked, Chu Baichuan, who was on guard duty, promptly raised the alarm and punched away the monster that was springing towards his wife’s body. The newbies quickly sprang to their feet, but they were still too slow for the swift monsters.
As soon as Tang Zheng woke up, he saw several black shadows lunging towards him. He immediately blocked his head, rolled over to evade and pulled out his gun to fire.
The monster that had fallen to the ground charged again, only to be hit straight on with a bullet and exploded on the spot. Viscous liquid splattered everywhere, and black mist billowed out.
Except for Xu Biyun and Pang Meiqin, who reacted slightly slower and were seized by the monsters, everyone else in the Conquerors was fine. The newbies, however, were in a pitiful state. Liu Hui’ai tried to tear off the monster clinging to her face, which resulted in tearing off the skin on her forehead, causing her to scream in pain.
Chen Hong and Cai Nan were simultaneously terrified, letting go and not daring to pull it off forcibly. They cried and called for help from Tang Zheng, "What should we do?"
"Don’t panic, don’t run around." Tang Zheng ran to the nearest mature woman and shot the monsters on her body one by one. Lin Weiguo and Qin Yan also started to assist the newbies. The monsters’ attacks weren’t that strong; it was just that their additional effects were too disgusting.
After dealing with the monsters, their twenty-person tent was completely uninhabitable due to the foul smell. Moreover, the effect of "Curse of the Shadow" took place, causing everyone to start vomiting. No one was fortunate enough to escape it.
Tang Zheng summoned the priestess and removed the curse from Ai Yixin, Aima and the rest of the Conquerors. The housewife glanced at her husband who was nearly vomiting out his gall, but she did not dare to demand anything more.
"Save the potion for later, my stamina still holds up." With half of his stamina depleted, he suddenly felt fatigue surging throughout his body.
"Tang Zheng, allow us to have a mouthful of the potion." Chen Hong, whose mouth was smeared with gastric fluid, pleaded with Tang Zheng, "I can’t stand it."
Tang Zheng ignored her, slipped out of the tent and went to find Jasons.
"There aren’t any potions left for those people outside either, you have to tough it out." The whole campsite was filled with sounds of vomiting. When Dantai pulled up the curtain of the tent and stepped out, he could only see chaos unfolding.
The monsters didn’t have high defense power and were quickly dealt with. However, soon the soldiers began vomiting and discovered rotting flesh on their bodies which caused them to panic and start questioning what was going on.
Tang Zheng burst into Jasons’ tent. The old man was already safe, but the rot that had started on his face rendered him unable to face people.
"Remove the curse from me, I’ll pay whatever amount." Jasons grabbed Tang Zheng’s arm.
Tang Zheng snatched the note from his hand, snapped his fingers, and the priestess appeared. A white halo was scattered over Jasons, and the rotten flesh on his face visibly started healing.
Jasons stared at himself in the mirror and let out a long sigh of relief, saying, "Go check on Victoria."
"Think about how to stabilize the convoy." The warning on the note read ’Stop proceeding, or everyone will die’. Tang Zheng didn’t believe that the soldiers would still have the courage to continue on.
Victoria, who was only in her underwear, was stabbing a monster with a dagger. Her frenzy escalated to an unprecedented level. She didn’t even realize when Tang Zheng stepped in.
"It’s dead already." Tang Zheng knew the woman was scared stiff. He tapped her shoulder, only then did she realize he was there. She immediately lunged her dagger towards the man who barged into her tent.
Smack! Tang Zheng seized her wrist and twisted, and the dagger fell onto the ground. Because of her violent action, her bust shook, tracing out a curve.
Vomit. Victoria was about to curse, but the nauseating feeling rushed up her throat, forcing her to squat on the ground and vomit.
Tang Zheng bent down, picked up a blanket, and gently covered her body. He was quite chivalrous.
