Chapter 539: Chapter 15 Book of the Undead

Ignore the girl’s begging eyes, the snapback-wearing rich kid was striking up a conversation with the flight attendant from England for the third time already. He spoke in a jarring English, stumbling through the exchange. When she bent down to ask what he needed, his eyes practically tore off her clothes, all but sinking into the slick valley of her cleavage.

"Bloody disgraceful," The reporter coughed with an affected air of dignity, completely despising the snapback-wearing young fellow. He then pretended to be dizzy and asked for a fourth glass of water.

Zhao Guangji was growing more and more audacious, openly leering at the swaying buttocks of the flight attendants as they walked by. Had Lin Weiguo not slapped him, it seemed he would have dared to grope them.

"I wonder what it’s like in the first class cabin. It’s so unfair. Why do Tang Zheng and Jasons get to sit there?" Jia Honglang, despite being somewhat of a name himself, felt irked having to squeeze into the economy class with the rest, even finding it a hardship to appreciate the flight attendants. "We have the same surname, Jia. Why is there such a huge gap in our standing?"

"His surname is William, you idiot." The older lady rolled her eyes at her husband. The more she looked at him, the more annoyed she felt. It wasn’t just because of the mistress situation. Seeing Tang Zheng’s attitude towards her made her realize that if she continued to do nothing, she’d certainly end up as cannon fodder. Although controlling billions in assets might seem minuscule compared to the financial whales, her experience and street smarts were more than enough to handle the situation. However, watching her husband ogling at the flight attendants without striving to perform better infuriated her.

"Why did I choose this loser?" The older lady looked at Jia Honglang. She had no feelings left for this man. The argument with the mistress was merely due to possessiveness. She didn’t want others touching her things, even if it was a piece of trash. "No, things cannot go on like this."

"Hu Xiaoyan, I have something to tell you." The older lady decided to take action, considering this greedy and cowardly fool to be a perfect candidate for conversion.

"Sister Manli." Hu Xiaoyan, the mistress, shrank back, still somewhat afraid. She had stabbed Manli that day, and if it wasn’t for the Trojan Horse game, she would have to face jail time.

"Don’t be afraid, just a bit of air sickness. Come, chat with me." The older lady casually comforted Hu Xiaoyan, but her eyes were scanning the newbies, seeking individuals she could make use of.

"Sir, are you feeling unwell?" The flight attendant stood next to Tang Zheng, her smile warm and inviting as she placed a blanket on his laps. A handsome young man, wealthy, and radiating an oriental reserve charm, the perfect candidate for a one-night stand.

Lu Fan, leaning in his seat, dozing off, pricked his ears up when he heard this.

"Thank you, this gentleman is a British billionaire, perhaps you’ve heard of him." Courteous and attentive as the flight attendant might be, Tang Zheng didn’t mind giving her a leg up.

The flight attendant was quick-witted, seizing the opportunity to have a small chat with Jasons. Due to regulations, she managed to slip her business card into his hands after a brief exchange and left the scene.

"Boring." Jasons, waiting for the flight attendant to leave first class, immediately screwed up the business card into a ball and tossed it over to Victoria sitting beside him. Women like these, although pretty, were a dime a dozen to him, and he didn’t care much.

"Why aren’t we on my private jet?" Jasons frowned, glancing surreptitiously at Qin Yan and Dantai, sitting in the front row. Both were as fit as professional soldiers.

"For safety. The dried mummy corpses could chase after us." Tang Zheng explained casually. He had noticed a pattern — whether it was punishment troops or game monsters, they generally chose the time when there were fewer normal civilians around to launch their attacks. Travelling on a private jet would be like sending them an invitation to come and kill us.

"Dried corpses? Didn’t know they’d show up this early." Jasons looked serious as he scanned the surroundings. He then feigned calmness, "No problem. Once we reach Paris and meet up with the foreign legions, we’ll be safe."

"Uncle, isn’t it too dangerous?" Victoria looked a little worried. Crossing her legs, her skirt rode up to her upper thighs, exposing her garter stockings. She quickly sat up to adjust the hem of her skirt.

"Don’t worry. We can deal with ten of these." Tang Zheng kept his concerns to himself. If it wasn’t such a waste of time, he would prefer traveling to Egypt by land. Even if danger lurked, they could escape in time. After all, his hypotheses weren’t exactly reliable. If a monster attacked and destroyed the plane, at least two-thirds of the team members were expected to die. He did have thirty parachutes, but they would be of little use to the rest of them. If they had to plummet down from the stratosphere, it would be tantamount to a death wish.

While Jasons was comforting his niece, Victoria, his eyes were fixed on the Book of Undead in Tang Zheng’s hands.

This lamb-skin book, about an inch and a half thick, was a little larger than an A3 paper. The cover, made of well-tanned, tough hide, was adorned with the sphinx and the pyramid. The edges were inlaid with gold and jewels. Though aged by centuries, the entire book retained a deep red shade. A hole in the center of the cover suggested a missing piece, which probably accounted for the locked pages.

"My love for you is irreplaceable. When you walk by, you take my heart with you!"

Tang Zheng did not understand the ancient Egyptian language, but he speculated that this was a love letter Ramses II wrote to his wife, Nefertari. The red-inked words left marks that, even after a thousand years, seemed to be filled with love, exuding an aroma of honey. It appeared to penetrate the heart with its sweetness.

"The Golden Scarab should be able to unlock it." Jasons moved to touch the book, but Tang Zheng quickly pulled it away. This frustrated Jasons, but he held his anger in check.

"Don’t your team members ever bathe? They have a terrible body odor, the flight attendants are avoiding them like the plague." Victoria, not a fan of Tang Zheng, sneered at him.

"This stain is left by a monster, you all will experience it sooner or later," Tang Zheng watched the beautiful woman in front of him, compared her with Aima, found each has its own merits.

"You’re lying," Victoria thought Tang Zheng was trying to scare her, her expression unchanging, "Are all Easterners cowards?"

The flight attendant just now came over with juice, trying to make conversation with Tang Zheng, but she had hardly spoken two sentences when a sudden change occurred.

Three spiral black clouds emerged above the plane, and the monsters with short limbs that could drop pieces of paper rained down like hail. In no time, they filled the entire first-class cabin. Jasons and Victoria looked horrified seeing the ugly creatures falling on them. Instinct prompted them to stand up, but their safety belts confined them; all they could do was watch helplessly as the monsters drooled and bit into them.

"Oh, monsters!" Victoria’s shrill scream drew the attention of the passengers and flight attendants, all confused because ordinary people cannot see these monsters, but in Victoria’s eyes, they were feeding on the passengers’ souls.

Aima’s scream got stuck in her throat as an entire dozen monsters stuck to her, drowning her. From a distance, it looked like clumps of squirming meat, sickening to the core. Aima was almost suffocating, with just one arm flailing about.

Tang Zheng didn’t have time to unbuckle his seat belt and stood up outright, tearing the belt off with sheer brute force. He then threw a punch at the monsters sticking to Aima; the four or five creatures that were hit flew off like baseballs hit by a baseball bat, splatting into meat paste as they hit the cabin walls.

The passengers were shocked, their eyes popping out as they stared blankly at Tang Zheng and the broken seatbelt - could a human even do that?

Hearing the commotion, the other two flight attendants briskly walked over, wanting to calm him down.

Bang, bang, bang, over a dozen monsters exploded all at once, spreading a black mist throughout the first-class cabin. The ordinary passengers who breathed it in turned light-headed and fainted, before going into convulsions. The mist was hallucinogenic to ordinary people, who began to have nightmares.

"Why didn’t they all explode?" Lu Fan found these monsters different - instead of exploding and disappearing, they emitted a shrieking noise that left people dizzy. She didn’t hassle to unbuckle her seatbelt, instead drew her handgun and started shooting, killing every monster around her.

Qin Yan and Dantai were doing the same. Their shooting skills were so good that they didn’t have to worry about stray shots. The monsters exploded into a pile of black meat paste as they were hit, scattering everywhere.

Tang Zheng quickly killed the monsters stuck to Aima, stood protectively in front of her, pulled out two handguns and started firing, killing the monsters.

Victoria’s screaming intensified, bullets whizzing past her, threatening to hit her at any time. The monsters exploded, spraying her with stinking black meat paste which nauseated her to no end.

Two minutes later, the monsters, which were not that dangerous but irritably annoying, disappeared, a stained note fluttered down inside the filthy cabin.

"The Golden Scarab can open the Book of the Undead, the spells written there can remove the curse on you!" reads the note.

"Have you lost your mind, are you trying to kill us?" Victoria’s arms flailed in the air, bodies covered in sticky liquid, furious, and unbuckled her seatbelt and walked up to him, her hands raised to slap him.

Smack, Tang Zheng caught her wrist, while Lu Fan and Qin Yan aimed their gun at her. The uncle didn’t want to hit women, but they didn’t hold the same reservations.

"Let go of me," Victoria shrieked, regretting joining this adventure trip.

Jasons, who was sitting on one side, was thrilled after regaining his calm, his face overflowing with joy, "Yes, this is it, she knows I’m here, haha, I’m sure."

"Insane," Lu Fan glared at him and put her gun away, speaking to Victoria, "Uncle never misses, what’s there to fret about?"

"The captain must have heard the gunshots, hope they aren’t misconstruing this as a hijacking. Qin Yan, see if the newbies are hurt?" Tang Zheng helped up the flight attendant, ready to take her to the restroom, when the whole plane lurched forward and began descending rapidly.

Looking out the window, the clouds soared upwards at breakneck speed.

"Damn, has the pilot and co-pilot both fainted?," a worried Dantai rushed towards the cockpit. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian.com to vote and recommend. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
