Chapter 527 - 6 Mummy Chase

Chapter 527: Chapter 6 Mummy Chase

The other party was clearly unfriendly, viewing them as prey. Tang Zheng and Dantai exchanged glances and immediately took up defensive positions with their guns. They had no intention of running away; they wanted to test the strength of their opponents. If they couldn’t even handle the first wave of monsters, they might as well be dead.

Six monsters were running wild in the middle of the street, blocking out the street lights and casting long menacing shadows. Even though their view was blurry, their grotesque appearances were seared into their minds.

They were dried corpses whose gender was impossible to distinguish. They were grey, rotten and ragged with skin and flesh stuck to their bones, resembling emaciated refugees who died of starvation in Africa. Their bellies were caved in, revealing stark rib cages, and they emanated a nauseating stench.

Dantai, crouching down, opened fire with his M60E4. The bullets drew a dark red line of fire in mid-air and struck the dried corpses.

The bullets went clean through without causing any damage, only blasting away some dried flakes of flesh.

"Use spiritual power bullets," Tang Zheng shouted, holding his gun steady against his shoulder to counter the recoil that could cause the muzzle to bounce.

The bullets, glowing green, penetrated into the bodies of the dried corpses, blowing palm-sized holes in them and causing chunks of flesh to collapse and fall off. But they didn’t die; they were still sprinting full pelt.

"Not effective enough," Dantai frowned. After firing a few rounds with his Thunderstorm rifle with no effect, he quickly swapped it for his M60E4 and switched to psychokinetic magazines.

"Shooting them in the head doesn’t kill them either." Tang Zheng replaced his ammo clip and resumed firing within a second.

Bullets striking the head of a dried corpse achieved nothing more than blowing its skull away without causing death; it only caused a slight backward tilt, which allowed the others to overtake it.

Just as Tang Zheng emptied his second clip, the six dried corpses had already closed into a range of five meters. They crouched down and sprung up suddenly, lunging at them like crossbow arrows.

Tang Zheng’s expression remained calm as he unleashed bullets at one of the corpses. As it lunged towards him, he swung his rifle with one arm.

The butt of the rifle struck the creature’s head, causing its upper body to pause while its lower body propelled forward due to inertia. Without hesitation, Tang Zheng kicked its spine. Despite the strength of his kick easily killing a wild boar weighing over a hundred pounds, the corpse merely tumbled away, with not even one of its bones breaking.

"Damn, they’re hard to kill," Dantai muttered. Having acquired a new skill in gun martial arts, he was able to continuously shoot while punching and kicking at the three corpses surrounding him, sending chunks of flesh flying and further saturating the air with an unbearable stench.

"Are these monsters also cursed?" Tang Zheng held his breath and decided not to engage them directly. He retreated, swapped his M4A1 for the Demon Slaying Holy Flame Shotgun, and pumped a round into the chamber. He thrust it towards one of the corpses, pressing the muzzle directly against its head.

With a mighty rumble, an oversized buckshot loaded with golden flames was unleashed, blasting away proportionately large chunks of the corpse. The resultant force propelled it back through the air, and the residual flame effect set alight the edges of its wounds with golden flames.

"Nice gun," Dantai’s eyes lit up; he hadn’t expected Tang Zheng to have a powerful prop like that.

As Tang Zheng killed his third corpse, Dantai also started to unleash his power. He put away his machine gun and brought out a Damascus Scimitar, cutting a corpse into two halves.

The curved knife was enveloped in a green glow, clearly having a spirit-hitting effect attached to it.

If these six corpses encountered the novices, they would undoubtedly suffer heavy losses in the ensuing chaos. But Tang Zheng and Dantai were formidable; they annihilated all six monsters in less than three minutes.

There were dismembered body parts all over the concrete road surface. Some of them had only half a head and an arm left and were still alive. They were crawling towards Tang Zheng, trying their best to bite him.

Tang Zheng took out his Gauss Sniper Rifle and switched to energy beam ammo. He pressed the muzzle against the corpse’s head and fired but noticedno effect, which disappointed him.

Dantai finished it off with a final chop. He looked at Tang Zheng’s Demon Slaying Holy Flame Rifle and then hopped onto the bus, "Let’s go. Qin Yan and the others might be under attack."

"At least I’m not cursed," Tang Zheng checked his body and sighed with relief.

Back in the square, Qin Yan and the others were still safe and had not been attacked. They felt relieved. Now they had a bus, a place to rest. Their tension eased after a long day, and they soon drifted off to sleep.

"I spotted a woman wandering near the museum. I’m not sure what she’s up to. Could it be Aima?" Lu Fan leaned against the car window, monitoring his surroundings with his telescope.

"Let me see." Chu Baichuan took the telescope but only caught a glimpse of the woman’s retreating figure. However, he soon spotted another scantily dressed woman speaking with a man.

"Okay, your turn to keep watch. I’m going to sleep." Lu Fan smirked as if he had succeeded in a sly plan.

Chu Baichuan merely responded with a grunt, his eyes unwavering from the pair in the distance. They seemed to have reached an agreement and were heading towards an iron gate by the side of the museum.

A man enveloped a streetwalker under his arms,

"Damn, how daring!" Chu Baichuan watched with glee, but after a glance at his sleeping wife, he slapped Zhao Guangji, "Go, report once you see Aima."

"What does Aima look like?" Zhao Guangji dared not fight back, reluctantly accepted the task with a grimace.

"How should I know." Chu Baichuan responded nonchalantly, disregarding him, took off his clothes, covered his wife, and took a rest nearby.

"A bunch of bastards." Zhao Guangji cursed under his breath, but all the discontent vanished as he saw the couple making out, taking out his mobile phone, secretly snapping several photos.

"At eight in the morning, the cleaned up British Museum officially opens, with tourists coming in one after another. Tang Zheng and Qin Yan disguise themselves as a couple for reconnaissance.

"I want to go too, we could pretend to be a family of three" Lu Fan pouted and complained, following Tang Zheng’s retreating figure while the others looked at Dantai eagerly, inquiring about breakfast.

"Meiqin, you take the three newbies to buy food." Dantai had been given secondary command and out of the group, only a few could speak English, making the long-legged stewardess the obvious choice.

Pang Meiqin took the British Pounds given by Dantai and pointed her index finger at the lingerie woman, noble woman, and female host.

"Add the young starlet Chen Hong, come along." Pang Meiqin enjoyed the superiority that came with giving orders. After all, besides the mistress, the rest had higher statuses than her.

"Those six dried corpse monsters are kind of like mummies, let’s go to the Egypt Exhibition Hall first." Tang Zheng, having bought two tickets and confirmed the location of the Egypt Exhibition Hall, led the way.

Entering through an archway, Tang Zheng found himself overwhelmed by a sea of gold. Little wonder, the amount of metallic artifacts from Egypt was excessive: golden sphinxes, golden masks, golden coffins for pharaohs and only a few statues retained their original gray tone.

"Tang Zheng, it looks like its finger moved?" Qin Yan pointed at a mummy resting in a glass cabinet with a solemn expression.

There were seven mummies like this, and beside them stood over a dozen colorfully painted stone coffins, all of them opened. Inside, mummies wrapped in bandages lay with arms crossed over their chests.

"I don’t like this place, it’s creepy." Even though warm sunlight came through the skylight and sprinkled onto the floor, Qin Yan felt a wave of cold, goosebumps appearing on her skin.

"Nice crown." The crown made from pure gold and assorted gems exuded an antique charm. Tang Zheng noticed it because, for a moment, he seemed to see a crack appear on the inlaid ruby, revealing an eye.

"Let’s wait for Aima at the entrance."

In thirty minutes, without any results, Qin Yan left with Tang Zheng. As soon as they entered the hall, they saw a woman with long brown hair and a backpack walk in. She stood in the middle undisturbed, took out a red banner, put it over herself, and started loudly proclaiming the museum’s atrocities through a loudspeaker.

The museum visitors began gathering around her. Within five minutes, a large crowd had formed and the staff anxiously tried to get her leave, but met with violent resistance.

The woman with brown hair lifted her leg, fiercely kicking a worker in the crotch. The poor guy immediately fell down, clutching his lower body, and gasping for breath.

Tang Zheng felt a sense of cringe, after which he took an interested look at the brown-haired woman. Clad in a black professional outfit, it tightly wrapped around her impressive figure, her chest seemed to be at least a D cup, her leggy form wrapped in stockings, standing in the middle of the hall in silver-grey high heels, she cut a seductive figure, no wonder she managed to attract so many tourists to listen to her in such a short time.

Tang Zheng was decent at English, and as per the woman’s speech, she claimed that the museum obtained an artifact from her grandfather using underhanded tactics. This is the reason she decided to protest and take it back.

Naturally, the museum management wouldn’t allow someone to cause a ruckus, they had already dialed for police. Three minutes later, a police car arrived with a siren and, subsequently, four robust policemen rushed into the hall.

The woman with brown hair attempted to resist once more, using the same trick, her long black stocking-clad leg knocked down a male officer. However, she was apprehended and escorted into a police car.

"Excuse me, sir, what’s the woman’s name?" Tang Zheng asked a cleaner, giving him a tip of ten British Pounds.

"That mad woman is called Aima! She’s stirred trouble in the museum for almost a month now, has been taken in by the station three times and still hasn’t learned her lesson." The cleaner was clearly angry at Aima’s slander, "She’s nothing more than a clown, our museum would never take artifacts from others."

It took a lot for Qin Yan to suppress her urge to spit in the cleaner’s face, if all these exhibits in the museum weren’t taken, then where did they come from? The former sun never sets empire had collected many valuable items from around the world through their powerful force.

"What a hassle, we’ll have to go to the police station now." Tang Zheng was frustrated, cursing why did she have to dye her naturally blonde hair. If he had known this woman was Aima earlier, he would have stepped in to prevent her.
