Chapter 523: Chapter 2: 4 Types of Ability
"S-grade artifact, Mechanical Lion Roar Cannon, when armed, temporarily mechanizes the right arm, achieving S-grade defense. It houses a built-in reactor that can emit positive electron cannons. After firing thrice, it enters a three-minute cooldown period, during which it can only be used as a regular laser gun,"
When Tang Zheng placed this mechanically-textured lion on his right arm, it spread like a proliferating plant. Mechanical modules extended from it, embedding themselves into his arm and then coiling upwards, transforming his entire arm into machinery - so much so that even half of his chest felt heavy and rigid.
Tang Zheng took out the Thunderstorm rifle and fired twice; indeed, it was undamaged. The only regret was the long cooldown time and the absence of any spiritual power attack effect.
"But it’s not bad for defensive equipment." Tang Zheng made a fist, feeling slightly awkward. Survivors could wear two pieces of Level A protective clothing, but no higher. So, in a sense, his right arm had an additional layer of defense.
The lion’s head cannon nozzle on the mechanical arm could retract too, transforming into a liquid metal covering his arm - this appeared less unnerving.
With the wristwatch unlocking complete, and looking at the listed inventory on it, Tang Zheng finally had a grin on his face. Although there were no top-quality items worth thousands of points, there was plenty of supplies, especially spiritual power bullets and hand grenades, which he lacked the most. Of course, it also had about a dozen seeds, sufficient for his use.
"It’s unfortunate that there are only two first-aid kits. The lack of healing potions is really too much. There are three bottles of ’Sweet Spring’ for stamina recovery, though." Tang Zheng realized that even the conqueror’s house did not have surplus food. They tried to convert points into resources to arm themselves and survive better.
After tidying up and taking a bath, Tang Zheng sprawled on the bed. He took out the Star Seed he had received as a clearance reward and prepared to use it to activate Furious Queen’s fourth ability. The Endless Slaughter World had given Tang Zheng a strong sense of crisis. In the war, he was like an ant. If he weren’t moderately strong, he would have died long ago.
"Having one more survival trump card is not bad, even though my body would be weak after using the ability, I can recover using the Sweet Spring." To resurrect Li Xinlan, Tang Zheng did not have extra points to strengthen his body, so he could only waste the Sweet Spring. Since he had it captured, he could persevere for one more round.
Although seeds of all levels could activate abilities, Tang Zheng still chose the Star Seed. Indeed, the better the seed, the more the activated ability would fit the user. Of course, Trojan didn’t reveal this secret. Not all survivors would be willing to use a Star Seed, of which some might not even get one until their death. Just look at how scarce it was by noticing Dantai Qin Yan and other powerful players’ empty pockets.
Back home, Tang Zheng could finally enjoy a sweet dream without any worries. Coupled with the coma from activating the ability, he fell into a deep sleep.
At ten in the morning, Tang Zheng woke up from his sound sleep and realized a woman was lying next to him. This situation shocked him, completely dispelling his drowsy mood.
"Could it be sister Xiu Ru?" Tang Zheng hurriedly lifted the blanket, but was met with an unfamiliar girl.
About seventeen or eighteen years old, with an oval face, large, delicate eyes, and luminously rosy lips that offered an enticing appeal like dew-misted fruit.
Tang Zheng covered her with the blanket, moving slightly too abruptly and waking her up.
"Master, you’re awake." The girl gave him an endearing smile, not at all shy, and sat upright boldly.
"Who are you?" Tang Zheng’s tone bore a hint of annoyance.
"I’m your servant, summoned by the Seed Ability." The girl jumped off the bed and lunged at Tang Zheng, hugging him tightly: "Daddy!"
"You called me what?" Tang Zheng was startled and subconsciously looked at the door. If An Xiuru were to see this scene, he would feel like throwing himself into the Yellow River.
"Master, you gave me life, so what’s wrong with calling you daddy?" The girl pouted, unhappy with Tang Zheng’s indifference, and tightened her arms around his neck.
"Impossible, my ability can only last five minutes." Tang Zheng tried to dislodge her, but failed. He then released his Seed Ability, only to discover in disbelief that the girl in front of him was indeed his summon.
"I’m not a combat class. I’m a priest, my ability is recovery and healing." After speaking, the girl jumped to the floor to pick up her clothes, a plain white priest robe with half sleeves.
"Ugly, don’t want." The girl half-dressed, abandoned it, and darted off outside, "I’m going to see if there are any clothes in the next room’s closet."
Without the girls’ introduction, the new ability had already emerged in Tang Zheng’s mind. A girl named Divine Guardian, who can double the strength and agility of survivors during combat, lasting five minutes, with a cooldown time of thirty minutes. But her healing and stamina recovery skills can only be used after combat ends.
"Seems a bit underwhelming. The only advantage is probably saving on healing potions." Tang Zheng stroked his chin, considering the idea of using her as a meat shield wasn’t bad too.
"If I die, I can only be summoned again after seven days." The girl introduced herself while ruffling through the clothes.
"Can you go back?" Tang Zheng wanted her to leave.
"Master, do you hate me?" The girl’s eyes welled up with tears, but she soon started laughing, "How do I look?"
The girl spun around, proudly showing off her figure.
Tang Zheng held onto his forehead, his head aching relentlessly.
"Being with me will gradually enhance your constitution, making you feel refreshed, energised and full of vitality. Don’t you feel it?" The girl paced through the living room with her hands behind her back. "In about thirty days, I can double your constitution, but the prerequisite is we need to sleep together every day."
There came a clicking sound of the door from the foyer, scaring Tang Zheng into a cold sweat. He hurriedly waved his hand to cancel the summoning, and was about to greet An Xiuru when he saw clothes the girl had carelessly strewn all over the floor.
"Damn," Thought Tang. He wanted to hide the clothes, but it was too late.
"Tang Zheng, you’ve disappeared again for half a month. What have you been up to?" Dressed in a white professional suit, An Xiuru stepped into the living room. Seeing the clothes thrown all over the floor, she was taken aback, and then a blush crept over her cheeks.
"It’s not what you think," Tang Zheng hurriedly replied. He didn’t want to be mistaken for a lingerie thief.
"I know," An Xiuru replied.
Tang Zheng was just starting to breathe a sigh of relief, when An Xiuru followed up with a sentence that made him almost choke on his own blood.
"Do you also like these underwear? Actually, I’m not usually this bold, but I do it to avoid leaving any traces on the skirt," An Xiuru quickly explained, fearing that Tang Zheng would think she was a wildly unrestrained woman. But saying such things to a man made her feel unbearably embarrassed, her cheeks almost bleeding from the blush.
"No," Tang Zheng had never felt so awkward before.
The living room fell into an awkward silence, with a hint of ambiguity lingering in the air.
"Tang Zheng, I like you," An Xiuru, being the mature older sister, quickly regained her composure and took the opportunity to confess her feelings, trying to probe Tang Zheng’s thoughts.
"I’m flattered, Sister Xiu Ru. In fact, I do understand what love feels like," Tang Zheng gave a bitter smile, slumping onto the sofa, "There are some things I can’t explain, but I have a high chance of dying. Talking about love, it’s too luxurious for me."
Tang Zheng didn’t dare to provoke even Qin Yan for fear of hindering her happiness, let alone An Xiuru. He didn’t believe that he could safely return from the Trojan Horse Game every time.
"Can I ask why?" asked An Xiuru, her face ashen as she took his explanation as a tacit rejection.
Tang Zheng shook his head.
"Heh, I was just joking, and you took it seriously, silly boy, I was just playing with you," An Xiuru tried to save face with self-deception. She picked up a pair of silk stockings, pretended to be calm, and went into the bedroom. But Tang Zheng saw the tears on her face.
It took about twenty minutes for An Xiuru to regain composure and come out with an unaffected manner.
"Are you hungry? Let’s go out for lunch," An Xiuru tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "The diamonds you left have all been sold – for over ten million."
"Oh, just give me two million. You can keep the rest for yourself," Tang Zheng needed to send money home, and a lottery win was the perfect cover.
"You’re quite generous," An Xiuru frowned upon realizing that Tang Zheng was not joking, but she hesitated to elaborate. "Never mind. How long can you stay this time? Another three days?"
"Fifteen," he responded.
"Do you need me to spend time with you?" An Xiuru asked, her lips trembling for fear of rejection.
"Yes," Tang Zheng didn’t want to ignore the feelings of An Xiuru and simply held her hand and walked past her. He completely failed to notice the hidden camera that had been reinstalled in the room.
"A girl who can vanish out of thin air, Tang Zheng, you’re becoming more and more mysterious," Mu Nianqi, wearing pajamas and just awake, switched on the monitor, catching everything that had happened. "I indeed lost some memories. Seed Ability? It seems familiar."
"According to my character, I should have left some clues behind, wondering where it might be. Is there a piece of false memory in my mind created to make me forget certain things?" He watched Tan Zheng’s retreating figure and smirked. "This is quite difficult."
