Chapter 483: Chapter 38 Newbie’s Death

Tang Zheng cleared out the nearby Beastman Grenadiers with a heavy machine gun, then ran over, straightened the bullet chain, and began shooting, creating havoc among the enemy ranks.

Lu Fan withdrew his ability and began sprinting with all his might towards Tang Zheng, leaving behind even Gao Yu, who had twice enhanced his body. However, the little Lolita’s shorter legs fail her, and she is quickly caught up.

Pang Meiqin outpaced everyone and stopped after she reached Tang Zheng’s side, acting as his auxiliary shooter. This long-legged stewardess knew better than to show up at the right moment; otherwise, if bit by Tang Zheng, she’d definitely be left behind. This, along with the pressure from the more beautiful women like Li Muqing, prompted her to act.

"Don’t stop, keep running," Tang Zheng yelled at Qin Yan who was also ready to stop. The Beastmen had now attacked their positions, and these soldiers, who were civilians just a few days ago, were now in full retreat, running as far as they could without having the will to resist.

At this point, the first ten trenches on the west side were completely breached. The supervising team was overwhelmed by the retreating soldiers and could only protect the battalion leader as they retreated.

Chu Baichuan held Ai Yixin while running for his life. Suddenly, he slipped, dropping her into a trench. This caring husband was scared and despite his bleeding lips, he rushed to his wife’s side with a look of distress.

"Don’t worry about me. Save yourself," said Ai Yixin sweating profusely. Her protective clothing soaked through. Had it not been for the two cheap pieces of protective clothing, she would have miscarried long ago due to the sudden bumps. The fall had given her a hard blow.

"Bullshit. We will survive this," Chu Baichuan scolded. Without another word, he lifted his wife. Because of her large pregnant belly, he couldn’t carry her on his back and had to hold her in his arms. Deprived of the use of his arms for balance, coupled with the crisscrossing trenches on the ground, Chu Baichuan slipped again and fell into the trench.

"Hurry up!" Tang Zheng roared loudly, restraining the Beastman Grenadiers pursuing Chu Baichuan instead of retreating.

Several newbies around Sun Bowen and Zhang Hongtao died. On the battlefield, aside from their minimal experience, they only had their luck.

Gasping for breath, An Ping carried his feverish brother with a broken leg and sprinted away. Given his height, his legs were short, limiting his pace. As a barrage of bullets hit the ground around him, he stepped into thin air and fell to the ground.

"Are you okay?" An Ping got up quickly and rushed to help his brother.

"Don’t worry about me," said An Ning, pale as a ghost, rolling after the impact. He shrugged off An Ping’s hand.

Ignoring him, An Ping stubbornly tried to carry his brother. Seeing this, An Ning became frantic. He slammed the ground with his fist and yelled at his brother, "What’s the point of going to such lengths? Even if I make it, I won’t survive!"

"Brother Tang is suppressing the Beastmen, but he won’t hold for long. I’ll buy us some time." An Ning took the rifle from his brother’s hand, trying to buy him some time.

"Don’t waste time," An Ping completely ignored these warnings.

"What are you dawdling for? Hurry up!" Having used up the bullet chain of the heavy machine gun, Tang Zheng grabbed an unattended chainsaw gun next to him and charged forward. Now, only these four were left at the back. If Tang Zheng left, none of them would likely survive.

"Stupid brother," An Ning was irritated. He glanced at Tang Zheng and suddenly shouted at An Ning, "Watch out!"

An Ping immediately turned around to protect his brother, aiming his gun, ready to shoot. But there was nothing but open space in front of him. All approaching Beastmen had been killed by Tang Zheng. When he turned back, he saw An Ning smiling at him, a straight knife buried in his chest.

An Ping was instantly dumbfounded and reached out to stop the bright red blood that kept flowing.

"Now... I ... am... really... going to die. Go, live... on ... brother," An Ning said and tried to pull out the knife, but An Ping howled, stopping his hand.

"Save... me... bro..." An Ning looked at Tang Zheng, but before he could finish his last words, he closed his innocent black eyes and bowed his head to one side.

A knife left stabbing can kill someone quickly, even without being pulled out.

"Move." Tang Zheng yanked An Ping, but the boy swatted his hand away.

"No. I have to take him with me," An Ping’s vision blurred with tears, making his brother’s face blurry. An Ping wiped it away, insisting on carrying him.

"Do you want your brother’s death to be in vain? Look at his chest, he has been preparing for this day for a long time," Tang Zheng unceremoniously lifted An Ping by his collar and threw him towards Chu Baichuan and his wife.

"An Ning!" An Ping roared, tears streaming down his face. He saw that a piece of his brother’s protective clothing at the chest had been cut away, apparently he had been preparing to commit suicide.

"Resurrection costs ten thousand points, so you must survive," Tang Zheng said with deep emotion. He had never imagined that An Ning, who was always snot-nosed and seemed weak-willed, would be so decisive in the face of danger. Not everyone had the courage to calmly face death and give their chance of survival to someone else.

"Let me go." An Ping shouted, his lips bloody from biting them. He believed his brother had died for him.

"You’re carrying An Ping’s life now. Committing suicide would be disrespecting him." Tang Zheng ran to Chu Baichuan’s side and urgently said, "Let me hold her. You’re too weak."

"You’re insane." Chu Baichuan cursed his wife and didn’t have time to answer. He was arguing with Ai Yixin. Seeing An Ning commit suicide to avoid being a burden, she had gone crazy and tried to bite her tongue and kill herself. Fortunately, Chu Baichuan had been quick to react and had shoved his fingers into her mouth, otherwise, Ai Yixin would have become mute.

"You can’t kill yourself by biting your tongue," Tang Zheng cursed. These four made him feel helpless, compared to those newbies who only cared about themselves, he wished they could survive.

"Let go, the beastmen are coming." An Ping pulled the trigger to continue the fight. He was still angry, but he didn’t seem likely to do something stupid.

"You’re too slow; you’re too weak. Let me carry her. Run!" Tang Zheng slid one hand across Ai Yixin’s back and onto her chest, the other hand hooked onto her thigh. Despite only touching her protective clothes and thin clothing, he could still feel her full figure. But Tang Zheng didn’t have any other intentions and simply wanted them to speed up.

Chu Baichuan was initially frustrated, but watching Tang Zheng run as if over flat ground, leaping forward several meters each time and landing steadily on the ground, he was relieved and followed closely behind, ready to give them some protection.

Qin Yan and Lu Fan were lying in a ditch, constantly firing to cover Tang Zheng and the others. Xu Biyun, Liu Yue, and Pang Meiqin were next to them, as well as Dantai Zongqi. The other people were still running. These women realized their physical limits and didn’t want to waste a single second lest they get left behind. As for Gao Yu and Tan Hui, they didn’t want to run madly with Tang Zheng; other people’s lives were not worth as much as their own.

Zhang Hongtao’s luck finally ran out. He had no protective clothing, and the machine gunner shot him. His body was riddled with holes, and half of it was shattered, revealing ghostly white ribs.

Aside from the unwise Pang Meiqin, newbie failures like Liu Qian and Han Mei surprisingly activated their seed abilities. These were of the defense type, so they were able to hold on longer.

"Run, run." Tang Zheng roared angrily. Although he was moved by Qin Yan and the others waiting for him, it was a terrible idea. With Tang Zheng’s stamina and speed, even if he carried another woman on a short run, they wouldn’t fall behind.

Zhang Ying was running, her hair disheveled and sweat covering her face. Her office lady’s skirt was too inconvenient. Suddenly, she stopped, grabbed the hem of her skirt, and ripped it open, revealing her bare legs encased only in flesh-colored silk stockings.

Ruan Zhimin and the big-breasted sister exchanged glances. They were tempted to take down the Trojan squad while they had the chance. Tang Zheng wouldn’t even know who to retaliate against if they just ran away.

"Ruan Zhimin, don’t cause trouble, or I’ll kill you guys first," Tang Zheng warned. He didn’t know what the Vietnamese were thinking, but it never hurt to issue a warning. Without the bulletproof ability of their protective clothing, he and Chu Baichuan would have died several times over by now.

"Protect your heads." Listening to the bullets whizzing by, constantly flashing past his head, Tang Zheng was scared. He was not yet strong enough to dodge bullets.

The two-kilometer death race nearly depleted everyone’s stamina. As soon as the routed soldiers crossed the defense line, they immediately collapsed to the ground, not wanting to move at all.

"Quick, get to the back, don’t disrupt the line of defense." Some sergeants were running on the battlefield, telling the routed soldiers to scram. They couldn’t wait to hear these words, and without anyone fussing over them, they struggled to walk towards the rear.

The soldiers’ gazes were all fixed on Tang Zheng. There was no choice; after all, everyone had watched him run over two kilometers while carrying a pregnant woman, they couldn’t help but admire his mental and physical resilience.

"Your wife is lucky to be married to you." A sergeant watched Tang Zheng walk past and took out three chunks of jerky from his pocket, placing them on Ai Yixin’s stomach.

"No, she’s not..." Ai Yixin’s face flushed crimson, but she was panting so hard that she couldn’t speak and ended up coughing several times.

"She’s my friend’s wife, Lu Fan. Give him two cans of food." Tang Zheng didn’t want Chu Baichuan to get upset. Hearing this, the little Lolita took off her backpack, and using it as a cover, she took out three cans of food from her wristwatch and handed them over.

Chu Baichuan didn’t care about these things, as long as his wife was safe, nothing else mattered.

"Thank you." The sergeant waved the cans and said quietly, "Walk towards the left. The group leader from the 17th battalion is rather nice. Even if we’re just cannon fodder under him, we can always get a full meal."

Tang thanked him. He knew they couldn’t possibly leave the town; they had to face whatever came at them. The busty sister cursed him earlier for being too liberal and showing off, but she was dumbfounded. She had never expected that an unimpressive sergeant would be able to help them out.

With three cans of food, Tang had exchanged them for a chance at survival. The routed soldiers who were regrouped by other battalions were immediately reorganized and sent back to the battlefield. Meanwhile, his group got the chance to rest where they were.

The scent in the camp was nauseating, a mix of fresh blood and sweat. More than a dozen men saw Tang Zheng give the sergeant cans of food and walked straight towards them, asking for some. One guy even went as far as to try and grab the little Lolita sitting next to Tang Zheng.

"Get lost." Tang Zheng slapped the soldier’s hand away. He noticed there were other Trojan squads here. They were really unlucky. However, the other party didn’t want to give up and punched Tang Zheng in the face. (To be continued. If you like this book, please visit qidian.com to vote for it and support the author.)
