Chapter 476: Chapter 34 - Meeting and Hitchhiking

The Hummer, leaving dust trails and countless curses of anger in its wake, made the soldiers tread lightly on the highway at the sight of fresh blood on its hood.

Looking at Tang Zheng’s brazen display, other drivers were left wide-eyed in anger. However, seeing this as a rare opportunity, they hit the gas and followed behind him.

After travelling another four kilometers, Tang Zheng pulled over and slowed down. The other cars didn’t wait for him and whizzed past.

"Let others lead the way," Tang Zheng said, deciding not to be the trailblazer. An Ning didn’t use the anesthetic, so when she woke up from the coma, she was sweating buckets from the pain. She tightly held onto her brother’s hand but was too weak to speak.

"Damn, that’s wild," Gao Yu admired Tang Zheng’s brazen approach and wished he could drive the Hummer himself, hating the sheer energy it took to travel on foot.

"Stop the chatter, and let’s move!" Chu Baichuan showed a worried face. The influx of routed soldiers into Tuokey Town had him worried about his wife’s safety. He slapped himself hard, blaming himself for his inability to protect her.

"Why not hijack a car?" Dantai coldly stared at the passing cars and suddenly rushed out into the highway.

"Are you insane? No one’s going to stop for us," Gao Yu followed but doubted Dantai’s plan. Many soldiers were trying to hitch a ride, but even fellow soldiers weren’t willing to help, let alone these civilian reserves.

Tang Zheng ignored the outstretched arms pleading to stop and drove on. However, after about ten kilometers, he pumped the brakes and pulled over.

Seeing Qin Yan and the others, Li Meilian’s face fell. This likely meant she’d see less of Tang Zheng.

A desert-colored Hummer parked beside them. A frustrated major stood by, smoking as his four fully armed subordinates found themselves in a standoff against a group of women blocking the road, urging them to move.

"Can’t you see we have a pregnant woman that needs care? Have you lost all your humanity? Aren’t you, soldiers, supposed to protect us civilians? Where is your honor? Did a dog eat it?" Pang Meiqin, holding the chainsaw gun, stood at the front, spitting words at the soldiers, alongside Han Mei and Liu Qian, who vented their anger non-stop. Xu Biyun and Liu Yue, on the other hand, remained silent, merely gripping their rifles and standing their ground.

Zhang Ying and Tan Hui were assisting Ai Yixin while Qin Yan was calculating how to take over the Hummer. If Ai Yixin walked anymore, she’d miscarry.

"Stay in the car and fire if anyone tries to get in." Tang Zheng jumped out of the car.

"Uncle," Lu Fan was kneeling on the car hood with his rifle ready, prepared to give anyone a warning shot before resorting to stealing another car. The sight of another Hummer stopping nearby put him on high alert. However, he quickly recognized the familiar figure and broke into joyful surprise. He held back his urge to hug Tang Zheng and continued to monitor the soldiers.

"Tang Zheng." All the women present greeted Tang Zheng, visibly relieved that a reliable man had finally arrived.

"What’s going on?" The major glared at Tang Zheng and cursed under his breath. Initially, he’d decided to offer Qin Yan a ride upon noticing her beauty, hoping to win her over. He hadn’t expected to end up held hostage by a group of women. His Hummer couldn’t fit all of them, and stuffing them inside would be next to impossible.

Tailgated by the Beastmen, no one had the time to gawk, but they couldn’t help but stare in curiosity as they passed by.

"Looks like they’ve been causing you trouble. It’s my fault for not disciplining them properly," Tang Zheng apologized, giving Pang Meiqin and Qin Yan a glance. Qin Yan understood and shrugged off Ai Yixin to squeeze herself into Tang Zheng’s vehicle.

"How’d a civilian like you get a Hummer?" The major said, relaxing his guard slightly despite his furrowed brows, and looking at the windshield of the Hummer behind him.

"I’m a driver. Want a smoke?" Tang Zheng had already approached him, pulling out a cigarette from his packet, hand extended.

"Heh, well-mannered." The major remarked mockingly, reaching for the cigarette, only for his vision to blur as Tang Zheng’s punch came to meet his gut. As a soldier, he regained his bearings quickly, attempting a parry, but the force of the punch was too much for him. Taking a blow to the gut, he threw up the contents of his stomach and lost consciousness, barely held up by Tang Zheng, or else he would have crumbled to the ground like a dead dog.

Qin Yan and Pang Meiqin also sprang into action. Being enhanced themselves, they had no trouble knocking down the four soldiers in a matter of three seconds.

"This is the Qi Hai acupoint, right? I heard that hitting it too hard can cause permanent damage," Lu Fan jumped off the vehicle hood, only joking about not caring whether the ruthless major lived or died.

"What are you staring at? The military police are on a special mission!" Tang Zheng’s brutal punch left the passing soldiers in awe. This civilian was too aggressive, he dared to punch the major. A few soldiers were even tempted to snatch the car for themselves but thought better when they heard his words. While they didn’t really believe him, they couldn’t deny his overwhelming combat power.

Lu Fan and Pang Meiqin already had their guns cocked and ready as a show of intimidation, while Xu Biyun and Liu Yue were on alert, giving off a murderous aura.

"Let’s not waste time. Get in," Tang Zheng didn’t assign seats, which would have shown favoritism. With Pang Meiqin there, she would surely take the initiative.

Sure enough, all the girls wanted to be with Tang Zheng. Seeing this, the long-legged stewardess fumed in annoyance.

"Biyun, you guys take this one."

"No worries, we won’t be separated." After comforting the women, Tang Zheng returned to the car. As soon as he opened the door, Little Lu Fan screamed in fright.

An Ning, who had lost both legs, was as scary as a human pole.

"Tell me about your experiences over the past few days." Tang Zheng tugged at his collar slightly, his expression somewhat gloomy, "Where are the other women?"

Aside from the antisocial Li Muqing and the unlucky Li Meilian, all the slightly smart women immediately approached Qin Yan for companionship in order to survive.

"Thirteen of them died. Eight female high school students attacked our dormitory, and I got stabbed." Pang Meiqin deliberately pulled open her tight top to reveal her bandaged chest for Tang Zheng to see.

The two Hummers had not even driven ten meters before they were forced to stop again. Ruan Zhimin, the big-breasted girl from Vietnam and another man, stood in their way.

The driver, Xu Biyun, clearly didn’t have Tang Zheng’s ruthlessness. Scared, she stepped on the brake, which forced Tang Zheng to stop side by side with her.

"What the hell are you doing? Are you suicidal?" Liu Qian stuck her head out the car window and cursed. The big-breasted woman, who was chewing gum, pointed her gun at Liu Qian, causing her to quickly retract her head.

"Wait in the car." Tang Zheng slammed the car door shut, stopping Xu Biyun who wanted to get out. "Next time you encounter this situation, just drive straight through. I’ve got your back."

"Ha-ha, nice to see you again. We could use a lift." Ruan Zhimin chuckled insincerely and straightforwardly made a request. They didn’t want to waste their precious time and energy on the road.

"What if I say no?" Tang Zheng surreptitiously glanced around, looking for a place to dispose of dead bodies. Unfortunately, there were too many people around.

The chewing gum in the big-breasted sister’s mouth paused. Tang Zheng’s eyes were too sharp, and his intent to enter a conflict was crystal clear.

"Fighting among ourselves now is just internal strife. The Beastmen are our real enemy. Don’t you want to go back alive?" Ruan Zhimin’s tone softened. He wasn’t stupid enough to challenge Tang Zheng at this point, not when all the windows on the two Hummers were rolled down, revealing all of his subordinates inside.

"Ants can kill an elephant if there are enough of them. Let’s endure this for now." Ruan Zhimin sighed deeply in his heart but kept a smile on his face. He was about to open the car door. Even if there would be a fight, he wanted to first figure out the strength of his opponents.

"You sure are making yourself at home." Tang Zheng stopped him with his hand.

"What? Are we going to fight? Even if I don’t survive, half of the people here will die. Plus, the soldiers are watching us. If we drag it out, it’ll be trouble." Ruan Zhimin was a Conqueror who had survived ten battles. When angry, he naturally carried a ruthless and decisive aura.

"You can get in. As for them, get lost. Then we can be allies." Tang Zheng pointed at the big-breasted sister and the man. He wanted to sow discord between them. If Ruan Zhimin hesitated for even a moment, it would be an opportunity. Unfortunately, Ruan Zhimin was cautious and refused to hesitate, immediately rejecting the proposal.

As they argued, several passing non-commissioned officers, accompanied by some old soldiers, had had enough and quickly approached, ready to seize the car. They didn’t fear confrontations with civilians.

"I didn’t seize a major’s uniform. What an oversight." Tang Zheng cursed himself silently for making such a mistake.

"There are many soldiers here. Do you plan to kill them all? Then you will no longer have a foothold in the base." Ruan Zhimin did not dare to remove Tang Zheng’s hand forcibly and move forward. The situation was currently in Tang Zheng’s favor, so he had no choice but to submit.

"Fine, you can get into my car." Tang Zheng chased away Li Muqing and Li Meilian and allowed these formidable characters to ride with Xu Biyun and others. It was just like inviting a lion into a rabbit cage.

The Hummers started again, moving away from the pursuing Beastmen, but the atmosphere inside the car was incredibly tense. The big-breasted sister gripped her rifle tightly, on guard against any possible sneak attacks.

Lu Fan also lost interest in chatting and just stared at them. Fortunately, everyone was unaware of each other’s Seed Abilities, so they didn’t dare to act rashly and risk killing each other.

The short 20-minute drive felt like an eternity. However, they had to stop outside of Tuokey town because a temporary defensive line had been established there, and tens of thousands of routed soldiers were being blocked outside. Under the deterrent of the gaping muzzles of the cannons, they had no choice but to follow the order to form a queue.

The civilians were picked out and driven to the side. They were forced to crouch down with their heads held in their hands. The whole town was under martial law. Not even a fly could cross over.

A team of fully armed military police saw Tang Zheng’s Hummer stop and immediately surrounded it.
