Chapter 475: Chapter 33 - What’s there to fear? Charge on!

"Damn it, die!" Tang Zheng was thoroughly enraged, turning around while running, he aimed his gun at these old soldiers!

"Don’t rush..." A bunch of soldiers were startled, their throats instinctively shrunk, and they uniformly shouted out, but unfortunately, before the end of their chorus, the blue thunderballs were spewed out from the muzzle, howling towards them.

The two women, drenched in blood and pieces of flesh, were also frightened. The thunderballs struck the shabbily equipped soldiers, instantly turning their upper bodies into minced meat. A storm of fresh blood swept across in an instant. As the two women passed by, they couldn’t help but took a look back and immediately felt nauseous.

Most of the dead soldiers had their heads blown up, leaving only their thighs and waist,

The Beastmen running towards them saw this, they all screeched to a halt in unison, their ugly faces full of astonishment.

Tang Zheng gave a cold snort and fired at them, counting the ones he hit, but the situation was still critical. Li Muqing was panting heavily; she was already having trouble keeping up because the Unicorn Protective Clothing she wore could only provide one-third of the enhancement. An Ping, after days of exhaustion, was too tired to carry a person due to the exertion.

"Ah, can’t wait anymore." Tang Zheng originally wanted to keep Hellfire as a trump card, but the current situation forced him to act. The Iron Canned Head guard team was too oppressive, and the three people behind him definitely wouldn’t be able to make it through.

Three seconds after arming, Tang Zheng flew towards the dozen or so guards, locked them in directly, and fully opened the rocket shells on his wrist step. He had not used the Gatling Machine Gun because he couldn’t penetrate their defense.

The Beastman guards opened fire, the bullet barrage hit Hellfire with a tingling sound, but in the blink of an eye, six Beastmen were knocked out by the force of the rocket shells, who died from the shock instantly. The rest were taken care of by his palm’s Impact Beam.

"Damn, made a mistake." Looking at the four people left behind, Tang Zheng knew he had made a mistake. He quickly flew back, grabbed Li Meilian with one hand, and said to the other two, "Hold my neck and waist, quickly."

Tang Zheng accelerated, shooting straight into the sky, followed by a series of bullets chasing him.

A few seconds later, out of the range of the bullets, Tang Zheng slowed down and flew towards the defense line in the air. It was impossible for the human body to withstand too fast a speed in the air. Although it was uncomfortable, there was no life-threatening danger. However, six seconds later, the radar started to sound an alarm; he was locked on by an anti-air missile.

"It’s called injustice if I’m killed by humans." Carrying burdens, Tang Zheng had no confidence in dealing with those missiles. He could only fly at a distance of seven or eight meters from the ground, but the bullets might hurt them. Some Beastman artillerymen and machine gunners began to attack them with all their strength, who were just too conspicuous and drew all the hatred.

Tang Zheng originally intended to jump over the defense line, but the timer ran out on Hellfire. In the end, he could only land with four people on a barracks atop the defense line. Soldiers who had noticed them earlier immediately surrounded them, pointing their guns at them.

"Where’s the power armor, hand it over." A staff officer ran over panting, pushed away the soldiers, glanced at Tang Zheng and others a few times, and impatiently asked for Hellfire.

"What armor?" Li Meilian played dumb.

The staff officer snorted, too lazy to talk, and waved his hand. The soldiers immediately pounced on the five of them, the hands of the two women were handcuffed; they cried out in pain. An Ning was even pulled down from An Ping’s back and fell to the ground.

"Damn." Just like the good people of Liantang Town who could not stand such a rough attitude, they burst into abuse, and suddenly sprang out, caught the staff officer, and stuck the muzzle of Lewan under his chin, "Let them go, or kill him."

"Killing me will do nothing; this thing is specifically requested by the major general; he will send others." The staff officer pretended to be calm, trying to deceive Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng wouldn’t fall for that, he jammed the muzzle up, knocking it against the staff officer’s chin. The latter bit off a small piece of his tongue, his face twisted from the pain.

The twenty or so soldiers around looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

"Another tricky problem." Tang Zheng was annoyed, he could kill all these people, but how could he break out? While he was hesitating, An Ping saw his little brother was injured and his face crinkled up. Annoyed, he directly released an air cannon, turning the two soldiers who caught him into minced meat, and then he killed two more soldiers next to An Ning.

Tang Zheng responded quickly and quickly shot these people. Luckily, the soldiers’ target was Tang Zheng, otherwise, the two women would be in trouble.

"Three shots landed." Tang Zheng looked at the bullet holes on his body, once again thanking the Firefly, but someone needed to be scolded, "Can’t you be calm next time?"

"I’m sorry." An Ping apologized, and then tried to carry his brother on his back, but An Ning refused, and the two started arguing.

"Don’t waste time, let’s go quickly. With the sound of gunfire, people will come." Tang Zheng was unfamiliar with this place, he could only withdraw towards the small town based on his sense of direction. However, his worry was unnecessary. The defense line was collapsing. Besides the soldiers brought by the staff officer, no one had time to bother Tang Zheng. Either they were defending or they were packing up their belongings and running away. The entire defense line was filled with scenes of the end of the day, a sight of trepidation.

"We can’t hold on any longer." Gazing at the retreating soldiers devoid of any will to fight, the Lieutenant General, who had long abandoned any hope of victory in this war, swallowed a bullet in suicide. The Major Generals, meanwhile, were busy regrouping their troops, retreating from the defence line. They aimed to conserve their strength.

Now, the only thought consuming everyone was to retreat back to the base. Given its relative safety, the desire to reach there made the defence lines crumble even faster, with several sectors already broken through by the Beastmen.

Following the flow of people, Tang Zheng weaved through the cacophonous barracks without fear of getting lost. He supported the two women, who were about to collapse from fatigue, on each side. It was what he thought the right thing to do.

The creaking sound of tires rubbing against the ground reached his ears, and the engine noise didn’t stop, indicating the vehicle’s readiness. While the other soldiers didn’t react, Tang Zheng felt a surge of energy.

"Hurry up, this way, don’t let the prey escape." After turning three corners and walking less than 20 meters, Tang Zheng saw a military Hummer parked in a refined courtyard. A Lieutenant Colonel was directing four privates to move his personal items from his bedroom into the Hummer.

Many soldiers rushed past the front door, only sparing a glance at the Lieutenant Colonel before hurrying away.

"What are you looking at? Believe it or not, I could kill you right here. Get lost!" The Lieutenant Colonel’s iron blue face giving Tang Zheng a murderous look as he drew his revolver from its holster.

Tang Zheng was faster. He let go of the two women and immediately grabbed the rifle hanging from his chest and started firing. The Lieutenant Colonel, greedy and wretched, showcased good military skills in evading but was no match for Tang Zheng’s indiscriminate barrage, turning him into minced meat.

One of the privates, who had just finished loading the boxes into the Hummer, was startled. How did a civilian kill his superior officer? Subconsciously gripping his gun, he caught sight of six or seven blue Thunderballs coming his way from the corner of his eye.

Looking at the four fallen soldiers, Tang Zheng’s mouth twitched a little. He considered whether he had acted too ruthlessly. Yet for the sake of secrecy and to obtain the vehicle, he had no other option. Run back to the small town dozens of kilometers away on foot? Even if he himself could manage, the others would definitely not make it.

Without Tang Zheng’s command, the two women crawled up and ran towards the Hummer. An Ping was a bit drained, almost tripping, until Tang Zheng steadied her with a hand.

"What’s all this stuff?" Li Meilian, grabbing the things crammed into the Hummer, yanked out a large pile indiscriminately and threw them out. After making space, she climbed into the vehicle, slamming the door shut with a thud.

Tang Zheng climbed into the driver’s seat and seeing that the key was already inserted, sighed in relief. He immediately started the engine but, given his lack of experience in driving, he didn’t handle the throttle well and shot out with a swish. Luckily, he hit the brakes on time, avoiding a crash into the wall.

"Maybe I should drive instead." Li Muqing breathed heavily, the close shave startling her. She didn’t want to die in a car crash.

"With your shaking hands and legs, you want to drive?" Tang Zheng disregarded her comment, started the engine aggressively, and burst out of the courtyard. Following the tire tracks left behind, he quickly found the retreat route.

The asphalt highway was jam-packed with fleeing soldiers, intercepted by the blaring sounds of horns. About a dozen Hummers got stuck on the highway, slowly inching forward.

Amongst the soldiers, the old soldier rogues were fearless, paying the Hummers no mind. After all, they were using their feet while the vehicles moved at the same speed. Considering they didn’t mug the cars at gunpoint, it was already a favor. Plus, when they spotted vehicles belonging to Lieutenant Colonels and others ranked higher, they would have already stepped aside.

"We’re not at a traffic light, yet we are slower than those walking." Li Muqing complained, glaring at the old soldier rogues, wishing they would disappear.

"Tang Zheng, run them over." Li Meilian added, frustrated, but was startled when she realized the Hummer was accelerating with clear intent to mow down the soldiers.

Tang Zheng honked the horn furiously, his final warning. After running down the fifth unlucky guy, thousands of eyes on the highway turned to look at them in shock, then disbelief. This time, the soldier rogues didn’t dare to behave bossy anymore. They ran towards the sides of the highway well before the Hummer reached them. However, they never stopped hurling abusive words at them.

The five unlucky guys, blown away, turned into bloody pulps. One of them even hit the windshield before rolling over the roof towards the back, leaving a trail of blood.

Tang Zheng swaggeringly switched on the wipers.

The cries of shock were followed by a round of angry cursing. Someone finally couldn’t tolerate it anymore, chambered a round, and opened fire at the Hummer.

The two women instinctively curled up.

"Why the fear? This is bulletproof." Tang Zheng scornfully glanced at the iron blue-faced soldiers through the rear-view mirror. Let them curse. The windows were closed, they couldn’t see the occupants, the vehicle wasn’t even his. "By the way, that Lieutenant Colonel is already dead. If he knew I was using his Hummer so arrogantly, I wonder if he’d die of anger once again." (To be continued. If you like this novel, please vote, your support is my greatest motivation.)
