Chapter 458: Chapter 16 - Beat him to death!

The soldiers in charge of the guard around were shocked by the sudden fight and quickly loaded their guns, their muzzles pointed at the group of civilians. The atmosphere became tense in an instant.

The frightened children wept loudly, adding to the confusion.

"The man’s nephew of Base 3 dares to fight, he’s fed up with life?" A naturally intrusive character, the opponent’s adjutant shouted at Tang Zheng. he ran to his superior to help him.

Tang Zheng had exerted enormous strength to that kick, the officer’s body writhed on the ground like a maggot, and after trying to get up three times without success, a layer of cold sweat appeared on his forehead. He felt like his intestines were twisted together, the pain was unbearable.

The members of the Central Hammer Squad fearlessly raised their rifles and held them against the soldiers. Only then did the soldiers realize that their boss had kicked an iron plate.

"I want to kick him too. That guy made me stand for so long, he should pay some price!" Lu Fan was indignant, "Why should we take this? We can always just leave."

"Go ahead, without our protection, you will die by tomorrow." The officer, with a look of smug satisfaction on his face, exclaimed, then gasped in pain, "Get him, lock him in the Black Prison!"

"Looking for death." Qin Yan pulled the trigger at the officer. If it hadn’t been for Dantai’s quick action in raising the muzzle, that guy would have been shot full of holes. Even though he was unharmed, a succession of bullets hitting the ground in front of him scared him enough to wet himself.

"This guy is a total wimp." Xu Biyun laughed when she saw a man wetting himself for the first time. Liu Yue couldn’t help laughing too. They weren’t afraid of trouble. Wherever their captain goes, they can go too.

"Tang Zheng, can you control them?" Zhang Hongtao, dissatisfied, berated Tang Zheng, "Ordinary people like us need a place to stay too."

No newbies echoed with Zhang Hongtao, they were in a daze, not knowing what to do.

"Heh, well said." The officer, supported, walked over. Seeing that Tang Zheng did not respond, he thought that he had backed down, so he spat on Tang Zheng’s face.

Watching this, the three women were as enraged as cats with their tails stepped on. Lu Fan raised his rifle and fired at the military police officer’s calf. The bullet penetrated his flesh and broke his right leg. Qin Yan also fired and broke his other leg. Noticing that the deputy was reaching for his gun, Pang Meiqin shot him, blowing his body apart.

Dodging the spit, Tang Zheng instantly caught the collar of the military police officer’s clothes and punched him, smashing all the teeth in his mouth, and his nose.

"Leave him alive." Tang Zheng, shaking off the fresh blood and saliva from his hand, stopped Lu Fan from acting. Little Lolita broke the officer’s calf, and the muzzle moved up, breaking his thigh. She then aimed at his lower body and fired two shots.

All the men who saw this scene nearly dropped their jaws. A sweet and pretty little loli was so fierce, they couldn’t help but hold their crotches, especially when they saw the officer’s clothes shredded in the crotch area, with a mess of bloody flesh underneath, they took a deep breath.

"What kind of people are these?" Seeing little Lolita easily holding a chainsaw gun and aiming at them, the soldiers shivered and instinctively looked for shelter.

The gunfire attracted many soldiers. Seeing Pa En, who had broken both legs, being held in the air, some people hurried to report to the Lieutenant General, while others jeered, encouraging Tang Zheng to beat him harder – clearly Pa En had a poor reputation and had offended many colleagues.

The crowd was in chaos. Onlookers were asking about how the conflict had started, and when they heard that Pa En was beaten into such a state because he spat at Tang Zheng, they all felt sorry for him. If you want to exploit and oppress, you should choose an easier target.

Xu Biyun and Liu Yue looked at each other and fired two more shots at Pa En, clearly showing their standing. Li Muqing, who was hiding behind Tang Zheng, pulled out a dagger and stabbed it towards Pa En’s stomach. She also wanted to show her stance.

"Let’s go, he’ll be useless as a hostage if he dies." Tang Zheng knocked Li Muqing’s dagger away, calling his comrades to get in the car. Steady running footsteps were coming from afar, and he didn’t want to be surrounded.

Now everyone’s choices were clear. Chu Baichuan and his wife ran towards the Hummer. An Ping’s brothers, five female models, plus Gao Wei Dantai, all ran without hesitation. Gao Yu cursed, then followed. Tan Hui also followed behind Dantai.

Sun Bowe took a step back with his small group, opening a clear line of separation from Tang Zheng. Back in the truck carriage, he had successfully taken the title of Group Leader. Dong Bai and Zhang Hongtao were a little way off, but they still had a dozen or so supporters.

Although Tang Zheng had crushed the Beastmen’s motorcycle troops, some newbies were not grateful, especially remembering the sense of impending death they faced when sitting in the truck carriage, these people had begun to resent him because it was not fair.

"Tang Zheng did not kill the Beastmen, he would have died otherwise, so there is nothing to be grateful for. We survived because of luck." This was Sun Bowe’s malicious words to manipulate the others.

Some newbies stayed neutral. They knew that if Tang Zheng hadn’t arranged their truck in the middle, they might all have died. Look at the last carriage, two-thirds of the civilians were dead there.

The command vehicle and the Hummer had not driven more than 200 meters when they were blocked by a fleet. After all, this was a human base with tight security. This delay allowed more than ten Forest Tanks and countless cannons to surround them.

"Get out of the car, you are under arrest." A man said loudly through a megaphone, his tone not friendly at all.

"I told you not to be impulsive, now what?" Gao Yu complained looking at those dark muzzles, he regretted not staying back.

"Pull out an Iron Tyrant to pave the way." Lu Fan took out Alice’s apron, "Anyway, I would rather die than surrender."

"Hold on, it seems like there might be a turn of events." Dantai made a silence gesture, another unit rushed out from the base and confronted the man who was shouting. It seemed that they were there to protect Tang Zheng and the others.

In the following half hour, Tang Zheng and others were surprisingly left alone. The base was in chaos, with a brief exchange of gunfire breaking out at some point.

"What’s happening?" Lu Fan asked, confused.

"A power struggle, it seems. What else could it be?" Dantai had seen a lot of such incidents.

Headed by Lieutenant General Dai, the pro-war faction that had been preparing for a long time launched an attack on the number three man in the base, a representative of the conservative faction. The gunshots earlier, naturally, were part of the purge of ’enemies’.

An hour later, the other unit retreated --- apparently, a winner had been decided. Dantai saw the latter unit had prevailed and laughed, "We should be safe now."

"Tang Zheng, are you there? Open up." Marcus drove up to the command vehicle in a Hummer and yelled, "It’s safe now, come out. No one’s going to hold you responsible."

"What about the third-ranking figure in the base? We killed his nephew." Lu Fan, carrying a rifle, opened the car door and walked over to the Hummer. He hopped on the hood, rapped on the glass and asked, "Anything to eat? I’m hungry."

"He’s now a prisoner. His nephew was always getting into trouble. If he hadn’t died today, he would’ve been executed anyway." Kaia took out a bar of chocolate and gave it to Lu Fan, blaming Tang Zheng, "I knew you were trouble. You haven’t even entered the base and you’ve indirectly gotten a lieutenant general and five major generals killed."

"I like that. Tang Zheng, I’ve asked the soldiers about your experiences. What do you think? Are you willing to join me?" Marcus wanted to recruit Tang Zheng; that was the real reason why he had come to lobby him.

"Don’t be in a rush to refuse. The base operates on a distribution system. Without military merit, you only get one meal a day, so everyone tries to join a strong squad." Dom explained, earning a glare from Carmine. He didn’t particularly like Tang Zheng’s style.

"Give me two days to consider." Tang Zheng needed some time, at least to get used to the base environment and understand Marcus’s character.

"Sure, Kaia, you take them to the civilian barracks." Marcus, full of cheer, patted Tang Zheng’s shoulder, "I like that you can take care of your subordinates. I’ve got to head off now, got work to do."

"We won’t be searched this time, right?" When they entered the base, Lu Fan saw that Pa En’s corpse had been removed, the bloodstains covered up, and the soldiers on duty had been changed.

"You were just unlucky, only Pa En would do something like that." Kaia suddenly felt that it was Pa En who was unlucky; he ran into these unconventional guys, torture a beastman with bare hands, how could that coward handle it?

"The men’s camp is up ahead, you guys go on your own, there’ll be someone to show you around." After a ten-minute walk in the base, Kaia pointed to a camp up ahead and instructed Tang Zheng, "Women, come with me."

"Don’t we get dinner?" Lu Fan, touching his stomach, pouted at the brightly lit base, "What a waste of energy."

"Sorry, you’ve missed dinner time." Kaia was helpless.

Tang Zheng took out two packets of instant noodles and three pieces of candy from his backpack and handed them to Lu Fan. That was the last of the food he could take for the day.

"There’s still hot water, right?" Little Lolita stuffed the two packets of noodles into Ai Yixin’s hands, laughing, "Compared to those newbies who get nothing to eat, I’m pretty lucky."

Ai Yixin tried to refuse, but was overruled by Little Lolita who insisted that she needed the nutrition as a pregnant woman.

After giving a few words of instructions to the women, Tang Zheng and the others entered the camp, but were stopped by the guards after just a few steps. After a series of questions, they were led to the quartermaster.

"Barrack 308, bed six, find it yourself." The quartermaster was in the middle of a card game with three soldiers and seemed to be losing big. He casually gave them a number and ignored them.

The guard pointed out the way and left. It took them several minutes to find barrack 308. But as soon as they stepped in, they had to step back out again --- the smell was unbearable. The odor of sweat and feet mixed with a musty smell hit their nostrils and made them want to vomit.

"You can’t be serious, we have to sleep in there?" Gao Yu’s face fell, "I’d rather sleep outside, that smell is too much."

"Don’t like it? Then get out!" A group of seven or eight shirtless men came out, looked at Gao Yu, then suddenly kicked him.

......

PS, I went out to buy some noodles earlier and just realized I don’t have any hot water as I was about to make them.

I didn’t manage to update the 10000 words today, how sad! (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian.com and give a recommendation ticket or monthly ticket. Your support is my biggest motivation.)
