"Don’t be so sensitive. If there were ghouls, she would have been chased down and eaten already," Gao Yu grumbled. Just as Li Meilian began to relax, Wang Yu’s cursing turned into a hysterical scream, her pleas of ’save me’ pierced everyone’s ears. In less than ten seconds, all noise ceased.

What remained of the twenty survivors leaped up as if springs were beneath their butts. They instinctively took a step before stopping again. Having seen the state Gao Yu was in, no one wanted to be the pioneer.

"Old Gao, Qin Yan, let’s head up!" Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste time. The obedient Lu Fan climbed onto his back and turned on the flashlight.

"Are you some kind of monster? You’ve got so much stamina?" Old Gao gave in, totally impressed with Tang Zheng. He ran almost a thousand meters with two women and a child on his back, without even panting.

"You can do it too, after enhancing your body." Tang Zheng brushed it off, feeling a bit down. One more newbie had died.

Li Meilian suddenly found the flashlight unbearable, wishing she could just throw it away.

Once back on the road, footsteps, gunshots, and panting noises mixed together, creating an atmosphere of panic. Gao Wei, a decent shot, and Tang Zheng formed a pair and cleared the way of all ghouls. This made the people following behind feel incredible relief.

The rhythmic sound of gunfire in the darkness, accompanied by muzzle flames, was strangely mesmerizing.

Then six more ghouls leapt out from around a corner, and two were immediately taken down,

"Changing ammo clip, Tang Zheng, do you have bullets for the type 81?" Gao Wei warned Tang Zheng to keep up the firepower and took down the third one.
