Chapter 358: Chapter 48: Spoils of War, Dead Man’s Wealth, and Return
The Tyrant didn’t slow down because of Tang Zheng’s fury. With an ugly look on his face, he pounced forward rapidly. Something within Doctor Jack snapped, triggering his knightly spirit. Without regard for consequences, he stepped in front of everyone, shooting at the frightful figure.
"Daddy!" Nicole cried out in horror, reaching to grab his arm, trying to pull him away.
As Julia crouched on the ground holding her daughter, giving up on fleeing, Lu Fan erected a wall of earth in front of Jack, aiming to slow the Tyrant’s advance.
Miranda had run away. Seeing the powerful Tang Zheng beaten so brutally by the Tyrant had frightened her out of her wits. Now, seeing him charge again, the only thought in her mind was escape, and a wet patch spread between her legs from sheer terror.
The Tyrant smashed through half a meter thick earth wall with sheer brute force, took the bullet’s barrage head-on, and darted right in front of Jack. Then, he whipped his leg towards Jack’s head. Doctor Jack miraculously managed to duck in time, avoiding the blow. However, the Tyrant immediately delivered a roundhouse kick, landing it on Jack’s shoulder.
Jack was hurled back as if he were a ripped sack. But before he travelled far, the Tyrant reached out and caught his ankle, swirling him in a circle before chucking him at Miranda.
As the forces arrived, the war hammer swept towards the Tyrant’s head but he avoided it. Before the second blow landed, the Tyrant got close using a propulsion, colliding with the knight, grabbed his shoulder and delivered a swift over-the-shoulder throw.
Tang Zheng charged again, only to be kicked away once more.
"Damn it!" Tang Zheng was truly frustrated. Although the knight’s strength was enough, his speed and agility were slightly inferior to the Tyrant’s. As for himself, other than good stamina, he was utterly trash. He was virtually a punching bag in front of the Tyrant.
"Sand Sphere!" The counterattack from Lu Fan was too weak. The only thing she could do was defend. She unleashed her power and the slabs on the ground began to rise, encasing the four of them.
Boom! The Tyrant’s fist struck, causing cracks in the sphere. Boom! With a second hit, the sphere shattered. Half-insane with power, the Tyrant sidestepped the knight’s blow and seized the child, Demi, from Julia’s arms. His grip was so tight that he tore flesh, causing the little girl to scream even louder.
Julia, in tears, attempted to bite the Tyrant’s arm, forgetting that such an attack would be useless. As a result, she was slapped across the face and hurled away. Half of her face swelled up immediately, and she lost several teeth. Had the knight not interfered, the Tyrant’s slap alone would have been enough to sever her fragile neck. Julia passed out from the shock.
Seeing that defense was useless, Lu Fan attempted to flee, but was targeted by the Tyrant. He leapt over Nicole and slammed his foot into little Lu Fan’s back.
Lu Fan shrieked, sent skidding across the road surface like an ice hockey puck struck at full force. Her pretty face was scraped raw, leaving a trail of blood.
The Tyrant threw Demi at the knight, then seize Nicole by the head. He brought her to face him, grinning maliciously as he prepared to crush her skull.
"No!" Jack tried to shoot, fearing he might hit Nicole. He wanted to rush and fight hand to hand, but his scapula had been shattered and ankle broken. He couldn’t even stand. Seeing the knight arrive in time, he cried out in relief, only to shriek in fear the next moment.
With one hand clutching Demi, the knight seemingly intended to pulverize Nicole along with them. He aimed his war hammer at the two, but the Tyrant performed consecutive somersaults and landed beside Jack. A fierce kick sent Jack flying again, and immediately, one of the Tyrant’s hands gripped Miranda’s right ankle, and another hand grabbed her stomach.
Miranda’s once-beautiful face contorted immediately. She could feel a great tearing force affecting her upper thigh, which terrified her into wetting herself again. As tears streamed down her face, she was about to plead for mercy, only to wince as a tearing sound echoed.
Miranda’s right leg was torn away by brute force. Freshly spilled blood gushed from the wound, the pain almost driving her unconscious.
Yet, the knight swung his war hammer effortlessly. The hammer stopped beside Nicole’s cheek - not a hair’s breadths from her - and did not harm her in the slightest. The knight then once again dashed towards the Tyrant.
The Tyrant threw the mutilated bodies at Tang Zheng and the knight, then darted towards Lu Fan. He knew those two were most challenging, hence he was dealing with the others first, simultaneously tormenting his prey psychologically.
"This damned bastard." Tang Zheng was enraged from the moment Lu Fan was hit. Now, seeing Miranda’s leg flying towards him, he immediately punched it, sending it flying. Recalling how he had touched that same leg, once adorned by silk stockings, the day before, Tang Zheng seethed with rage, especially as the Tyrant rushed towards Lu Fan. His rage was at its peak.
Lu Fan had not given up the struggle. Knowing that her uncle would come to rescue her, as soon as she stopped rolling, she released her power. The soil rose in circles around her, forming a protective earth shield.
Boom! The earth shield was blown apart. Just as little Fan was about to wield her Alice kitchen knife, firm in her resolve to stab the Tyrant even at the cost of her life, Tang Zheng, enveloped in a red mist, appeared beside the Tyrant. He delivered a mid-air drop-kick to the Tyrant’s head.
"Go Uncle Go!" Lu Fan cheered, immediately pulling out her pepper grinder, which had completed its cooldown cycle. She aimed to spray the falling Tyrant but didn’t get the chance to do so.
Tang Zheng sprung from his legs, like a crossbow arrow being released, and in an instant, he caught up to the Tyrant. Then, with a powerful swing of his right hand, like a whip, he struck the Tyrant’s head.
